I have natural dark hair with red tones. Dying blonde at home is always a little damaging. I got my hair to icy white blonde with bleach and white lady toner. For maintaining and root cover ups I didn’t want to continue to tone with 20 vol & put my hair through double processing. I used this protein filler on wet hair. Left on for 20 mins and got from 613 barbie blonde to icy white. Great to maintain shade! I was so surprised, no damage, no purplish tones, with my ends being damaged normally my ends pick up more of a tint. But with this roots to ends are same perfect shade. Will continue to purchase. Amazing!

For $5 you can’t go wrong. I like this when dying your hair blonde. I put it on my clean, towel dried hair. I comb it through & make sure to get it evenly saturated. If it’s dripping squeeze your hair with a towel or whatever. I put on a cap & leave it in for 20min. I then apply my hair color. Nice even color with the added protein=perfect dye job. I highly recommend. It’s much easier to apply than the neutral one. That one is very liquidy whereas this one is a thicker consistency.

Can’t believe I’ve never tried this before. Regardless of what color, toner, bleach I use I always turn orangey. This has also happened with salon services. I was just about to color my hair darker than I wanted but tried this.
I used a day after coloring applied heavily to the roots then mixed with neutral filler on the rest of my hair. Left on 20 minutes then washed and conditioned. Came out such a nice tone, not brassy, not purple, just neutral. A few days later I mixed with conditioning mask, covered with a shower cap and left it on 20 minutes. Perfection.

After using the neutral protein filler and having great results, I decided to try the platinum version. The platinum version is a dark purple, quite like Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo. I have medium blonde hair (probably around an 8N) that I lighten with Ion’s 10A or 10V. Lately I’ve been using ash as I have more issues with red/gold tones than I do with yellow tones. I followed the directions when using as part of the coloring process. After touching up the roots, add a 1/2 bottle to your color and process for 15-20 minutes all over. I noticed that it seemed to get purple where my hair was really light so I chickened out after about 8 minutes and rinsed it out. There were no purple tones so next time I’ll go the 15. I’ve also used this to tone my roots which have a tendancy to get gold. It works quite nicely without having to double process my hair with a toner. The directions were to add this filler directly to your hair for 15-20 minutes then rinse. I left it on around 10 minutes while I was taking a bath and it toned down the gold. I will definately use this every time I color my hair from now on.

I’ve got a little bit of orange at the root due to starting to do my color at home. Natural shade: a neutral level 7 blonde, 8 in the front. After three different color boxes in a row (Preference Les Blondissimes Extra Light Natural Blonde, followed by ColorSilk Ultra Light Ash Blonde, then finally Preference Les Blondissimes Extra Light Ash Blonde) turning my roots orange, I’ve admitted the problem is with me. What to do?
Unfortunately, Clairol Shimmer Lights only does away with yellow brassiness – not gold & orange brassiness. After hearing raves about Professional Protein Filler in #3 Platinum and seeing the word “orange tones” as something it tones out written on the bottle ($4 at Sally with the membership card!), I knew I had to try it. After two 30-minute goes this week at saturating just my roots with this product, here’s the outcome: slightly less orange roots after the second time (most of this area passes for gold now), with the overlap at the top of my head under the root area being a nice pure white baby blonde. The length of my untouched hair is a buttery blonde. You read it right: that’s 3 tones from root to tip. Three blind mice.
You might be horrified at the mental image, but I’m not. See, I can see past this temporary troll hair because I know it’ll end well. I’ll run this baby through the length of my hair after my next shampoo to render the rest of it platinum blonde as it is at the top. No 5-lippie rating for this product because it didn’t eradicate my quarter inch of orange and gold roots as it states it does right on the label. Not sure what product will; but I’m not the first natural blonde in the world to get orange roots & get rid of them, so I’ll eventually come across my HG for that. But at least I know Professional Protein Filler in #3 Platinum is very effective in getting all the light gold & yellow out!
A nice bonus? Unlike Shimmer Lights, this does not dry out my hair that day in the least. In other words, no dread factor in using it.
