From the Zoologist Website:
“Huge trees quake at their approach, vulnerable leaves shuddering as the ground rumbles under heavy footsteps. They come with appetites as massive as their lumbering bodies. Nothing is spared from their bottomless hunger – trees stripped bare, roots upturned, even the tiniest blooms cannot escape their grasp. When the behemoths move on, they leave behind a path of destruction. Yet what often looks like carnage is actually a renaissance. The elephants fulfill a vital role – purging the delicate ecosystem, allowing new life to flourish.
From beneath a canopy of lush, damp foliage, the complex aromas of Zoologist Elephant emerge. Into a mixture of invigorating Darjeeling and incense, swirl hints of coconut and cocoa. With the patience of a foraging herd stripping the bark from a thicket of trees, the fragrance dissipates gradually. What is revealed is the core of the perfume – a beautiful and satisfying blend of woody notes, which dry down to an elegant, natural sandalwood scent.”

Initial notes are prominent magnolia with spicy undertones and an overall blanket of fresh cut grass. This scent reminds me of warm spring days when the flowers are in full bloom – the once dead and dormant landscape has come back to life with the kiss of the sun and gentle rains resulting in lush vegetation inducing excitement and anticipation for the coming months. The scent is fresh and earthy, but not so innocent. The introductory crisp notes relax into a gentle, unobtrusive sophistication, reminiscent of the nobility and calm confidence of the elephant. The layers mingle together much the same as fireflies among a field of wildflowers on a mild summer evening, giving the impression that once innocence is evolving into something more mature, yet still whimsical with a free spirit. The spicy undertones only deepen this scent and do not overpower its freshness. I cannot isolate the patchouli chord, if you are sensitive to, or not a fan of, this aroma.
Great scent for patio dining, outside concerts, picnics or an anticipated first date early in the evening.
