This perfume has moderate sillage and longevity. As others have mentioned it is mix of amber and sandalwood. I did not dislike the scent but there was an off putting, slightly synthetic note that I found very strong. I tried wearing this scent several times but I kept smelling that strange note.

This is not an amber scent so much as it’s a sandalwood amber scent. Certain sandalwoods crawl right up my nose and hurt (the well-made but nasty Bois de Vanille, for example) and I cannot bear them. This falls into that category. There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with Baltic Amber, but the sandalwood is too too much and I had to run screaming to scrub within a literal two minutes. For those with more stomach for sandalwood, maybe wait it out to see if it becomes the glory the other reviewers tout. If you also don’t much like sandalwood, avoid at all costs. Argh.

Amber is one of the most beautiful fragrances out there and can come in many varietal interpretations: Anne Pliska is an orange tinged aldehydic wonder relying very much on sweeter pungent variety of amber. Today is a look at Voluspa’s Baltic Amber candle which takes a beautiful journey through amber. At first the scent of Baltic Amber is creamy, just a tinge of coconut, but underneath it lies a beautiful hint of fir needles never letting it become sickeningly sweet. As the candle burns longer a tinge of cherry tinged smoke starts to come through the creaminess. The fragrance progresses to smoky wood soaked amber scent yet never hits a single rough edge with the creamy use of the vanilla. The candle burns clear and long, although it could be wished that the candle had better throwing power in scent, yet the scent that is there is utterly gorgeous for an interpretation of amber. It adds the ambiance of a perfect cool autumn in the mountains with smoke and mist intertwining. I definately recommend this to those that love the scent of amber. I think this scent would be greatly appreciated by those that enjoy Luctor et Emergo People of the Labyrinths fragrace. And yes I am deeply hankering to get the room spray.

Yummy! This is indeed a great fragrance at a great price (a huge bottle for $18-$20!!). It’s a smokey, caramelly, cherry-ish amber-vanilla which smell amazingly expensive (very similar to Keiko Mecheri Genie des Bois). Plus the bottle and box are super-cute. I’ve used this as both a room spray and as a fragrance (use with a light hand as it is strong) and it’s really quite amazing. This line is also sold at some really nice, cute, high-end boutiques. While I tend to order a lot online, I actually found this in a cute boutique in the Venetian Hotel – so it was fun to buy too LOL! All in all, this is a great buy!

I’m surprised this hasn’t been reviewed yet, it’s a nice fragrance at an outrageously good price ($18 for 100mL bottle). The notes are amber, sandalwood, cedar, and vanilla. It’s a warm, rich amber tinged with sweetness, but not foody. The woods lend a dry, dusty quality that balances the vanilla nicely. It’s also a nice balance of masculine and feminine; I imagine either sex could wear this easily. The box is labeled as a room fragrance, but the bottle says it’s for room and body — I’ll use it as a perfume.
