EDIT 11/15/19:
Gave this a second try and it seems to work a lot better all of a sudden! I don’t know if it’s the weather, that I’m using coconut oil and other oils as part of my bath routine or what, but now I’m getting the sexy, dark scent I smelled the first time I opened the tester I got from my rep. It does fade but it never really disappears on me now like it had when I first got it. I am no fan of overwhelming perfumes and unfortunately Avon has a few that are like being smacked in the face with scent. You can taste it, in fact. This doesn’t have that quality, thankfully. Glad I gave this a second chance.

Perfume is a personal thing. I’ve smelled perfumes on other women that when I try them smell worse than sweaty flip flops, and then I’ve found some that stink at first scent but dry down into something beautiful. And I won’t even try to go into how long perfume lasts between people.
Sadly, this perfume starts out kinda sexy and dark, and just…fades. I got the EDP spray before Xmas and tried it out for a month. I’d been considering rebuying it once the spray was empty but at the price Avon is asking for it and no better than it performs, I’m going to pass. I’d had some high hopes for it because the first couple of times I wore it, it was actually what I’d been looking for in a winter perfume—not heavy, but dark, sleek and sexy. After that, it just faded out on me after 3 or so hours.
Avon’s perfumes are very hit and miss, which is sad because I remember their perfumes from when I was a kid many, many moons ago [LOL] and they not only lasted, they smelled great no matter who wore them. There’s only a couple of their perfumes I can stand to wear at all any more, and I’m bummed because I thought this would be a keeper. Sorry Avon.

Although I love the scent of roses, I have found that rose fragrances often disappoint. Not this one! It has a lovely bloom blends with patchouli and an hint of spice. I would wear this in any season and for any reason.
Since the review, I have found that this fragrance could be improved with more staying power. Even with the shower gel and lotion, it still does not last long, compared to Avon’s Prima Noir, which stays very well. Not sure I would change the 5 lippies rating, though. Still is lovely.

This has been compared to Gucci Guilty Absolute for women–this is nothing like Gucci Guilty Absolute, so please don’t buy it thinking you’ll be getting a cheaper dupe–you won’t. What this is though is a gorgeous sweet rose, fig and patchouli fragrance that is smooth and very niche-like. The only pomegranate is a little hint of tartness in the very beginning, the rose quickly overtakes that and blends with the fig for a sweet earthy warm experience. The musk is a soft undercurrent pinning the whole thing, and the patchouli definitely gives it that velvet texture that makes the name very appropriate. The bottle is heavy and classy, with a velvet collar—definitely a new niche direction for Avon. This is a sweeter, lighter cousin to Midnight Poison with the rose and patchouli dancing so nicely together. It’s got decent sillage but not a super heavy hitter with only 2 sprays–more sprays would definitely make it stronger. Longevity is about 5-6 hours. Very inexpensive and well worth the money. Perfect for Fall/Winter–although I could see this blooming in the spring and cooler summer days as well.
