I don’t call this type of perfume a perfume. I call it an anti perfume. It smells like nothing I’ve ever smelled in a perfume before. Ultraviolet is one of only a handful of fragrances that I’ve come across since I’ve been into fragrance that has a vegetable note. The vegetable note in Ultraviolet is red bell pepper. Its very unusual. Very herbal. It smells almost like a fajita or spiced chicken. Very very spicy fragrance. Notes of almond, coriander, rosewood and cedar. Ultraviolet becomes more pepperey both in an herbal and vegetal sense. All combine wonderfully for a roller coaster of a scent. Goes against all fragrance rules but that is why I love it so much. It is not a sillage monster and kind of stays close to the skin….which some people may be glad for. Do not try too hard to detect it on yourself and you will find yourself catching wafts of this beast every now and then. Its just so different and bizarre that I have to love it. And the bottle is to die for. It looks like a tiny little orb flying about your room or a U.F.O. And the colors of the fragrance add to the U.F.O. effect. A metallic silver and purple. Actually, this will be odd, but remember that singing group Bananarama? That put out an album in 1996 called Ultraviolet and the colors on that album match perfectly the box of this perfume and the bottle itself. Just something else that makes this perfume so enduring to me. Certainly not feminine nor is it masculine. I call it gender neutral. Nare a flower to be smelled by my nose. If you like to go against the grain get a bottle of Ultraviolet.

HG. I don’t know what so say about Ultraviolet……it’s MY scent! I’ve been wearing it since i was a teenager, and now i’m in my mid 20’s.
I don’t know how to describe it, because i can’t be subjective with it!
I’ll throw some random description words here and cross my fingers that i make sense, because i think this perfume’s ingredients are blended so well, in such a harmony, that make it very hard to describe it: definitely oriental, flowery(violet!), sweet-but not too sweet. Spicy , but in a very subtle way! Not in a strong, masculine, “smells like pepper” kinda way- the spices are blended in a way that give an amazing edge to it.Someone here said that there’s a “metalic quality” about it….i don’t know what that even means but somehow it makes sense!! I think it’s the pepper that does that. Sexy sexy sexy!
This smells like NOTHING else! It’s such a unique scent that once you smell it, you’ll never confuse it with anything else, not even for a second! It’s definitely a womanly scent (i don’t know if a 17 year old would like it-then again i did , so who knows)! But it’s DEFINITELY not a “old lady scent” as someone said. I know smells are subjective but when i hear old-lady i think “channel n5/ j’adore/ strong jasmin/ strong rose” etc. Ultraviolet is nothing like that.
I find it so unique, modern, feminine and seductive! It doesn’t go unnoticed by both men and women. Men seem to really like this. I get asked a lot about it by guys, even on the street. No need to say my boyfriend adores this, and whenever i buy a new one he says “Smells good, but not like Ultraviolet!” (yes , he knows it by name)
I keep buying other perfumes but nothing compares to this one. And, very importandly: amazing staying power! I can smell it on me very clearly the next day
To be honest i’m kinda glad this is not so well known-it makes it even more unique! But i thought i would give it some love here…more women need to give it a whirl.

This was my first expensive fragrance that I bought with my 1st “real job” salary i my early 20s. had just miraculously escaped out of the post-Soviet block ( ugly times we had in the 90s there) and wanted to make up for the lost teenage years that were means to be spent partying and shining with youth and boldness. No wonder, I was dancing away every weekend back then, and this fragrance could not be better for a night on the town! The smell is indeed very violet, warm and deep, and surprisinly fresh due to a peculiar ” cold air whiff” note in what I would call a bouquet of nighttime flowers. In all of that I see Lilacs, Iris and Violets, also a vetiver perhaps somewhere”backstage” – that’s what I could sniff out of it.The modern bottleshape, the packaging – all of it screamed “disco!! party!! neon lights!!!!!”. This all was in Ireland and I got quite a few compliments back then on how I smelled, even after sweating it on the dancefloor! The only thing is, this smell is so distinct ( didn’t come across anything similar since! ), and so one-note dominant, that by the time I got to the bottom of the bottel I was pretty tired of it, and 10 years on – still tired! It is a truly beautiful fragrance, highly recommending it, but the day I will repurchase it – perhaps in my next life, when I am 21 again! :))

You know you got your hands on a hot fragrance when your fashionista mother sneaks it from you citing “it’s a tad too risque for a 13 year old, love”. You won’t mistake this scent for anything else in the world, once you smell Ultraviolet, you won’t forget it. I loved the unique futuristic bottle, the long lasting scent (I have oily skin) and the never ending compliments it delivered. I loved this perfume so much, I even bought a male version for my then boyfriend who, alas, ended up preferring Christian Dior’s Dune to it because he didn’t want to smell “like an underwear model”…For some reason, everyone associates this scent with seduction. Go figure.

I have Paco Rabanne Ultravoilet but hardly ever use it. It is one of those fragrances that everyone recommeds.
Its an interesting fragrance, very rare smell , i haven’t yet smelled anything thats similar to this fragrance. Its sweet, flowery with voilet being the dominant flower. Its a pretty scent, I have the body lotion too. However the scent no longer appeals to me because my taste has grown.

This is my HG fragrance, as it has been for my whole life. I hardly ever wear perfume or any body scent, but every single time I dress up, I reach to this. Perfect.

Really like this scent – alot!
The packaging is pretty clever & unique too.
I use it in the warmer months as I dont think it lends well to the colder months.
I think this is quite a ‘young’ fragrance, perfect for woman up to around 40…but thats my opinion.

Over sugared violets, very similar on me to Feerie. It’s just so swwweeeetttttt…
My friend who loves Feerie will love this. Not so much me,

Recoomend this one for violet lovers. A good alternative for summer days. But I find it a bit out-fashioned and got bored of this kind of fragrances. Furthermore, it is not easy to handle the bottle, since it is not easy to get the fragrance out of the bottle and it is not easy to get the resting amount.

This smells funky. I expected to love this because I love clean, “purple” scents, but there’s a raw, metallic note in this that really scratches at my nerves. It also smells like grape candy, and while that is a quality I might have enjoyed had this fragrance had more going on, it falls flat here. The general impression Ultraviolet leaves is- trying to be different and chic, but failing.
