Another reviewer nailed it: “coldness and dirt”. It has more “cold” to it than several others I recently tested; however, it still doesn’t capture it as well as DS & Durga’s Siberian Snow, which is rapidly looking to be my “thumbs-up” favorite for this genre.
I don’t know where some of these noses experienced snow. Someplace where they get maybe an inch and it mixes with the dirt to form nasty mud? Because, in ND in the 70’s, when I lived there, it smelled NOTHING like this. Dirt? It was buried beneath feet of snow. And that’s the way something labelled “snow” should smell. No dirt.

I received this as the free gift for purchasing over $25 on the Demeter website. It turned out to actually be my 2nd favorite out of the 4 scents. It smells just like snow! I can hear the crunch of dirt and snowflakes in my boots when I smell this. Its a very complex scent. My boyfriend couldn’t believe how uncanny this is! Would not purchase, but definitely glad to have it!

If you grew up in the Northeast – sledding and skiing and making snow forts, you would know exactly what this smells like…. WET SNOW PANTS drying on the radiator.
So, in the end it is a good smell, a winter smell.

To me this smells like “coldness and dirt”. I think it’s a good attempt at a realistic scent conveying ‘snow’.
I don’t think I’d want to wear this scent. It probably would give me a headache. But I do like the idea of it and it’s interesting.

I really did not know what to expect before smelling this but it really does make me think of snow…snow and something more. I really enjoy it and it makes a great addition to my growing Demeter collection.

If the snow is very filthy, then it smells like snow. It makes me think of the exhaust blackend side of the road snow. Not too pretty. Also, on first application, the alcohol makes it smell like dirty vodka. Blah. I don’t get how this won a fifi. Ugh.

I bought this scent mostly out of sheer curiosity. How could they formulate a perfume that smells like snow? That, plus the Fifi award made my buy this “mini” unsiffed. Here’s what I found: it’s a cool temperature-smelling perfume-y scent. Doesn’t smell like snow to me, but since it’s called snow, I can envision a magical moonlit snowy night, walking along under the stars with my sweet husband. I will keep it for this reason and for the novelty of it. I will probably only wear it a few nights out of the year (maybe to Christmas parties or other parties during the winter). Partially this is because I get plenty of winter where I live and would rather focus on something else!

ugh, no no no -pyuck! I cannot understand why anyone anywhere would think this smells like snow. Thank goodness I only bought the 1/2 oz. bottle. Email me if you want it. It *could possibly* be a decent scent for a man – it is not feminine at all, imo. I bought a bunch of the sample bottles and am not having much luck with any of them.

I’m not sure why I’ve waited so long to review Snow; it’s still one of my favorite scents after 2 years of nursing my 5ml decant. Then again, now that I have it on my wrist, it occurs to me that Snow is remarkably similar to Eau d’Italie’s Sienne l’Hiver–one of my favorite fragrances. The difference is that Snow is slightly less crisp, less sweet, and more earthy. I won’t say that it smells like snow *per se*, but it is certainly ozonic and–well, nice. It’s also one of the more complex Demeters. Love it!
UPDATE (6-20-07): Just sampled CB I Hate Perfume’s Winter 1972, and it is almost identical–yet longer lasting–than Snow. I have no doubt whatsoever that CB is working with the same basic scent formula. Well, folks, our prayers to the great god, Demeter, have finally been heard; the scentmeister general is making versions of Demeter that don’t disappear in 10 minutes. Rejoice!

I made the mistake of buying this online without smelling it first. I think it smells like old rain water and some sort of mens’ cologne.
