I actually am reading the reviews to see if I want to buy this. Found it on ebay for a GREAT price.
I LOVE original Poison. That is the best smell humanly possible to me.
I saw that this had tuberose and plum in it (just like Poison). Does this smell anything like Dior Poison?

Why on earth was this marketed as an Obsession flanker?? It SO deserves its own space and name! I initially tried it because Chandler Burr gave it a great review and because it could be had for a song online. I am pretty sure I was the only teen who loved the original Obsession in the 90s (Tommy Girl WHO?? Give me ambery spicy sex in a bottle!) and I still love Sheer Obsession (a TRUE flanker) and Liz Claiborne Spark (the illegitimate flanker- seriously, it’s totally Obsession’s sister-from-another-mister), so I expected to love Secret Obsession, and I do! But it’s more like Shiseido’s Feminite du Bois than Obsession. It has a plum and nutmeg opening (not the syrupy plum of Balenciaga Cristobal), which gives way to tuberose and orange blossom, and dries down to sandalwood and amber. Um, hell yeah!! Smells so much more expensive than it is. It is not a sillage monster, nor does it have the tenacity of the original (which entered a room a half hour before you did and lasted for two days on the skin), so don’t be afraid of clearing a room, it actually dries down pretty intimately. Also, the bottle- radical departure from the brown egg, now it’s like a brown genie bottle/space ship thing. I don’t care for the cap. Could’ve been way more posh, but I like the bottle shape. If you’re not into warm woods and spices, you probably won’t like this, regardless of your age or “maturity.”

I’ve just ordered the 3.4 oz of this after zipping through an entire roller ball in no time flat. I am a patchouli fanatic who gravitates toward spicy, woody scents in general and decided to buy this blindly on ebay. The roller ball ran me $5.50 and I was in love at first whiff. The 3.4 oz was only $23 and change! Secret Obsession is absolutely my new favorite. I hadn’t realized there was such a thing, and it doesn’t really remind me of the original Obsession, which I did wear on occasion in the 80s. There is an expensive soapy quality to it, but the woody-spicy-warmth is just heavenly. To me, it’s more wearable than the YSL and Guerlain lines that I tend to love, but holds its own as far as uniqueness in a sea of trendy choices. I love being able to get away from the candy-coated fruity stuff — Secret Obsession is grown-up and classy… the kind of scent that makes people want to draw close & just breathe it in. I’m sad that it’s been discontinued, but am not complaining about the price & availability. If you want this, now’s the time!

This scent makes me feel like an undercover seductress; Enigmatic, exotic…unattainable, except to whom she chooses. It smells like wealth, forbidden night-time escapades and fine black lingerie (very Bond girl-ish). Like warmth, romance and unbridled passions hidden behind a silent, serious exterior. I feel like I need to be wearing black when I wear this scent…anything black, heels, cascading dark locks, and tasteful gold jewelry…dressed down with ripped skinny jeans or dressed up with a pencil skirt, doesn’t matter. For summer nights and fall days. It’s a July-November perfume for me. Rich in nutmeg, amber, white florals and sandalwood. At times I feel like it smells very soapy, like tuberose soap, spice, and clean, warm skin. I enjoy that deep, spiced soapiness in SO, I personally find it very cozy, yet elegant, and yet, also very sensuous and sultry, all at once. Has an early 90’s, retro feel to it…thanks to the nutmeg-tuberose-plum combo I guess. Though it does lack the sillage-monster quality of those 90’s frags…thank goodness, because I like the moderate sillage of this one, I would be nauseated if it were any louder. I love it on me, but I would love to smell this on a guy as well, it could be unisex. The only con for me is that it disappears after 3-4 hours (spraying on my clothes and hair does help), and I hesitate to respray because it opens harshly, it takes atleast 15 minutes for the scent to properly ‘bloom’ on my skin. Nevertheless, still worth owning, it’s sold cheap these days, there’s nothing else like it out there, it’s unique, and you’ll never smell this on the masses.

I’m surprised to like this fragrance! I received a large bottle of this as a gift, and I’ve spritzed it on a few times to sample now and am surprised to find it a pleasant, nuzzle-my-nose-in-it-for-a-better-whiff scent.
I’m currently wearing a spritz of Secret Obsession on one wrist and a sample vial dab of Tauerville Vanilla Flash on the other, and they’re shockingly similar. Are they interchangeable? No, but they do play nicely together. SC is sweeter, less complex, more abrasive, more floral and linear, while VF is drier, more complex, boozier and woodsier, the tobacco blossoming as it dries down. Still, they have a similar creamy, just-short-of-gourmand, vanilla-amber warmth.
I wouldn’t mind smelling this on others at all and don’t mind an occasional spritz on my own wrist. I tend to like this fragrance family in general. The scent also makes me think of Burberry Brit and Donna Karan Chaos. Again, a longshot from dupes, but they carry the same nuzzling warmth for me. I don’t mind this fragrance overall but wouldn’t purchase it myself. Also, the shape of the bottle makes it exceptionally obnoxious to store, especially among other perfume bottles.

This is a gorgeous scent and for the money it is brilliant! ..just apply gently gently …that’s the only way to get the best affect ….I wasn’t sure at first but just a small Dab and its lush ;0)

I bought this on a blind buy from tj maxx for $15. When I first sprayed it, I shrieked, alone in my car, “ew! No!” It has SUCH a mature, old fashioned smell. It reminded me of my great grandmas massive collection of ancient perfume samplers from like 1972. It calmed down, though, a few minutes later, and I suddenly couldn’t get enough of it. It disappeared, in an intriguing way. I was like, “wait, come back!” It takes on a subtle, sexy smell. It’s dark, spicy and a little androgenous. I also like the simplicity of the amber bottle. Also, since I am a smoker, it helps that this scent is a little bit smoky. It covers up that cigarette smell, by working with it.

I love it the best

this is again a very different scent from calvin klein, at first smell you might find it heavy and nauseating. but allow a couple hours, with the warmth of your skin , the smell will completely chance. it s still spicy and warm smell but it reminds me of an evening drinking by the fireplace on a winter night 🙂 so it s definitely for winter and for mature ladies. i dont like the bottle though.

Nice scent, but a bit heavy for me and I think for teens in general.
