I bought this in the summer and it didn’t wow me. The only thing that did impress me was the spray mechanism. It’s very cool. It sprays – lemme see if I can find the words – almost aerosol-like but obviously it’s not an aerosol spray… it is unlike all other perfumes in that it’s a “long” super fine mist. If that makes sense idk it’s probably best to see what I mean in person.
Now that it is cold out I tried it again and I LOVE IT. Now my ride or die perfume, which I buy huge expensive flagons of when Macys has them, is coco mademoiselle INTENSE (only intense). My fave for a decade was shalimar. I love Estée Lauder youth dew body oil. So in essence, I prefer “old lady” scents that have major sillage and are STRONG; nothing else lasts on me. This scent never seemed like that to me and still doesn’t *exactly* but kinda.
Maybe it’s how my body reacts to the scent when it is hot.. or my nose changed more likely. But now I simply cannot get enough of this! It very distinctly reminds me of a bubble bath. I don’t even really understand it myself — something about it makes me think of Mr Bubble ha. But it also has that “something” extra that my scents need to have apart from longevity and amazing silage; a deeper feel which people refer to “old lady” scents.
I’ve gone halfway through the bottle since re discovering it. Spraying it is a joy and it’s less olfactorily offensive to my family due to the clean soapy notes.
If the above sounds good to you, or if you wanna see what I’m talking about with the one of a kind spritz mechanism, it deserves a sniff next time you’re at a Charlotte Tilbury counter. BTW: I bought it blind online cuz CT can do no wrong in my opinion. This is up there with mademoiselle intense and shalimar now and I will buy and use year round. I’m a perfume person through and through who carries a refillable travel-o, sprays am and pm & in between, sprays my clothes etc. I go through a lot of perfume I feel naked without it even if I’m not leaving the house. I hope they make a larger bottle.
ETA immediately after writing this I went on her site. Rn u get a free 30ml with purchase of 100ml and you can be darn sure I wasted no time!

Argh. Smells like a super old vintage scent. I thought it had gone off. A very plumy 1980s scent, fruity sweet, heavy. Not gonna be my thing.

Not for me at all. It doesn’t smell like a perfume, it smells like hairspray and dust, there’s nothing pleasant about this scent imo.

I love this perfume and I was very pleasantly surprised when I smelled it at the Charlotte Tilbury counter at Nordstrom’s. I sprayed it lightly on my left wrist and smelled it after the sales lady was done with me. I immediately asked to include it in my purchase.
At 34, I dislike perfumes that overly sweet or floral. What I prefer for at-work perfume is balance and longevity, with sophistication and a hint of masculinity. This perfume has all of these to me. It is a bit strong at first, like most other perfumes, so I only use one half of a spray, rub my wrists together and on my neck. Up front the florals and woodsy notes are very present, and as it dries down the spice comes through and it mixes beautifully with my body heat.
Other reviewers don’t seem to like this perfume, but to me there is something classy and familiar about it and it wears beautifully.

This is absolutely awful, it smells cheap and chemically, its a generic perfume but has nothing to it, theres no appeal. I got this as a sample and I usually save my samples for nights out as I can throw them in my bag but this is sitting on my dresser never to be used again. Awful scent for a ridiculous price.

Yuck, old ladyish coming from a 55 yr old. Terribly strong, I will stick with tresor or Chloe. This made my eyes water and had an instant headache. My poor little shitzu sneezed her self silly. I will be returning this.

I love Charlotte Tilbury. I do. Her makeup line is fantastic.
But.
I got this perfume as a sample – and I was so excited because everyone described it as a scent i would like.
But – fragrance is VERY SUBJECTIVE. We all know this, it’s personal, you gotta try it first blah blah blah.
What do I get when I sprayed this thing that I thought was going to be amazing and magical?
Bugspray.
I kid you not. It smelled just like the OFF DEEP WOODS bug spray I use when I garden.
I called DH in, he sniffed, and he asked me why I was trying to joke with him. I told him I wasn’t. I put it on my other wrist, waited a few minutes – no difference.
I figured, sometimes, it can take a little bit for a scent to really do it’s thing so I waited for about an hour.
Yup. I still smelled like bugspray, that doesn’t work, because I got eaten up by mosquitos when we went for a walk.
This is not the best fragrance for me.

Now, a perfume is probably the most subjective product a person could buy. Both the people who like it and dislike it are right for themselves and no one can argue that. For me personally, that’s one of the most magnetic scents I’ve ever smelled in my life. It smells of a young, beautiful, sophisticated yet cheerful woman (yes, I suck at describing scents). My husband had never made me a compliment for my perfume until this one. I really really wanted to hate it when I tried it, as the price is a bit steep, but I actually love it. It’s incredibly long wearing – it might linger for days after spraying it on clothes, so a little bit goes a very long way. I highly recommend trying it!

Scent of a Dream was launched with a lot of fanfare so I was very curious to sample it. I have a growing collection of Charlotte Tilbury’s wonderful makeup items, many of which have become staples. Sadly, I was less lucky with her fragrance. First I tried it at the counter and thought it smelled sharp and confusing. I then used up a number of samples which I received with my numerous CT orders and I feel that I gave the fragrance an appropriate number of test runs to be able to summarize my impressions: There is so much going on in this fragrance and while I like many of the notes by themselves or in other combinations, this concoction simply doesn’t work for me. The initial opening is a pungent blast of citrus, followed by something strong and fruity, along the lines of peach and apple. Then, a powdery note in the middle and base of the fragrance takes hold and lasts for a long time, laced with a musky mix of patchouli, white flowers and incense. To me, this fragrance is trying too hard to accommodate too many notes that just don’t blend well at all. I had to toss the remaining samples as I didn’t even enjoy it as a room fragrance.

Edit 5/6/17 I got my 100ml bottle of scent of a dream & I love it! It’s my new signature fragrance I already got a compliment on it from my mom. It seems expensive but compared to other popular perfumes (Angel, alien, juicy, flowerbomb, Chanel, elizabeth james, anything not celeb inspired nor can be bought where you pick up from your toothpaste or luncheon meat) is comparatively priced. The bottle is not very travel friendly shaped but it is a pretty bottle. This smells like bottled sunshine & a bit of musk although not listed. The list of notes is rather frenetic sounds like a headache a royal mess but this is awesome! I did upgrade my postage #happyface
Get a couple sample vials of this & try it w ur body Chem not a piece of paper. It just melds to the body it’s like what clean skin smells like. This is awesome fresh out of the shower. I spray it behind my ears, wrists, ankles (it rises) & halo hair walk thru it & my mom could smell it a few hours later the sign of a good perfume is longevity. I would so wear this on a date! The Wearer is sup to possess happiness, good luck, & SEX! Pretty hefty claims but barring the sex thing I’ve felt happy & lucky to have my great family around me, to possess 2 beautiful horses & all of life’s necessities along with many, many other blessings so many blessings so is it true???? Simply, this scent makes me so blissfully unawares & feel beautiful. I don’t need my scent to announce my arrival in a room nor linger when I leave but this has just the right amount of projection. It envelopes you but you wear it–it doesn’t wear YOU! Which is why I try to avoid chypres but this isn’t your run of the mill chypre. It’s perfect.
