As far as unisex fragrances go, this one definitely veers more towards the masculine, however it’s an addictive and unique fragrance and even if I don’t feel confident enough to pull this one off at work or social gatherings, I still keep a tiny vial of it just for me and me alone, for my own sniffing pleasure. Especially on a cold winter night near a log fire I cannot think of a better fragrance for the setting. Despite the ‘Oud’ references I don’t get much oud in here, not in the eau de parfum and not in the extrait either. From the two, the extrait is my favorite, it’s sweeter and has a more prodominent lychee accord which hits you from the get go. That plus a whole lot of woodiness and smoke. On dry down I catch a hint of cinnamon and the fragrance itself becomes a touch more powdery. I also find longevity better with the extrait…although it costs quite a bit more too! I absolutely love the glass bottle that this comes in, which I’ve picked up instore, however it’s pretty much out of my budget! So I did the next best thing… I got a vial of it as part of a ‘choose your 4 trial sprays’ offer on the MFK website, a fantastic offer which I’ve taken advantage of more than once and has allowed me to find my faves amongst the vast collection. Satin Mood is my favorite after Baccarat Rouge 540 – a delicious cotton candy scent that just like this one may be too sweet for some and likewise has some serious lasting power (on my clothes I can detect either of these weeks later, especially Satin Mood which has some phenomenal lasting power on fabric, on skin not so much). Definitely best to try first to be sure.
