On me it smells straight up like rosewater and quite herbally, not sweet, not powdery, not intense or long lasting at all. I am a huge rose scent fan and to me this frangrance does not worth the high price for this scent. Nevertheless, fragrances smell and last differently on different people, thus I’m not saying this is a “low-quality” perfume, I’m just saying that it didn’t work for me. The only Jo Malone perfumes that I would recommend from my personal experience are English Pear & Freesia, Nectarine Blossom & Honey (mainly), Wood Sage & Sea Salt.
The straight up rose fragrances and products that I would recommend for the rose scent fans out there are:
L’occitane 4 reines & Roses et Reines shampoo
Molton Brown rosa absolute & the shower gel in the same scent
Lush R’os Argan body cream & the Shower Gel
Body Shop British Rose scrub

I was gifted this fragrance for Christmas and I love it!! It’s technically a cologne but lasts forever plus has the kind of sillage that requires a light touch when applying. I’ve been playing with rose scents like TF$ NdN and Guerlain Rose Barbare since last summer but they’re both so $$$ plus I was looking for a truer rose scent.
I’ve read that JM uses 7 different species of roses to make this perfume which is where this differs from other interpretations of rose in fragrance. This isn’t what a rose smells like; this IS rose!! With a touch of greenery you’d find nestled in the paper wrapped bouquet your high school sweetheart sent you all those years ago.
A squeeze of lemony brightness is added to keep this from being linear. And the beeswax? I only smell it when I spray this beautiful scent on my wrist. Well developed, slightly powdery but sticky, the essence of honey without all of the sweetness.
Romantic and cheerful, the fragrant representation of love; young or old.

I’ve always loved roses. I’ve owned Une Rose and Lipstick Rose from Frederick Malle, YSL Paris and Parisienne, Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Rose, L’occitane’s Roses et Reines, and even Crabtree and Evelyn’s Rosewater and Glycerin body care and fragrances, yet not one of those compares to JM’s Red Roses. Like others before me, you get a beautiful green, chilled, moisture-rich rose – and it is this that is classically familiar. What is new and unexpected relative to the other rose fragrances,is the dry down: hints of Rose – a tickle of Rose still wafts through, a very sensuous caramelized honey or beeswax emerges. It makes the scent so real, like you’re in a dewy garden of roses, while snagging a flower by cutting it, and finding a bee-keeper and the bees nearby. I almost did not purchase since I had such a huge rose collection – but this is by far my favorite. I prefer modest sillage as I wear fragrance to work daily, yet I want longevity so I can enjoy the fragrance through the day – this captures it perfectly.

When i first tried this it was while i was at Neiman Marcus. I remember being stunned. Transfixed at the beauty of what i was smelling. It was like i was floating in a vortex of liquid mercury and rose petals. If ypu want a rose scent with no other notes to dilute the fabulous scent of roses in a garden then Jo Malones Red Roses is the perfume for you. This smells exactly like what the name suggests. Red Roses. Almost a victorian black gothic rose scent. There’s a slight dew in the air and you dance in it. The dew turns darker. One raindrop hits your nose. You run smiling into the rose garden. Hundreds and hundreds of roses are now around you as it starts to rain. You drop to the ground under a single rose. You see a drop of water on the rose. It falls off the rose and hits your nose and you squeal in laughter and childlike delight with the innocent smell of a rose garden in the english countryside.

My first Jo Malone fragrance and still my favourite to this day! I love how simplistic but sophisticated Jo Malone scents are – on me, this smells like fresh red roses with a burst of sweet lychee. The silage is surprisingly long lasting and I always get compliments when I wear this. Non-offensive but vibrant, perfect for everyday wear.

Just a super classic scent of roses that is super light and airy. Never overpowering.

I wore this New Year’s Eve. It’s such a sophisticated scent that lingers in the background and is not overpowering whatsoever. I am loving how back to basics jo Malone scents are. Would recommend

This is a nice, simple rose fragrance. It’s lasts a long time and has good sillage. However on me, it is so similar to Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose that I can’t see spending the money on this one. If you just like an occasional rose scent, grab the Perfumers Workshop version instead.
