Very green and sharp – I love soapy fragrances (Glow by JLO is a favorite) but Rain was very chemical smelling to me. Its described as green, floral, sweet, soapy and musky. I bought the perfume essence rollerball and it was very strong. I had to wash it off after an hour. There was no sweetness at all in this one to me. On my skin this is a strong musky green lily of the valley with harsh edges. This also pulled quite manly on my skin.

This scent is very long-lasting. I put a drop or two on after a bath one evening, and I could still smell it the next day, all day. It would be a great choice for someone young just starting to try perfumes. It’s a very springtime-like scent. I like it well enough to wear it occasionally until it’s gone, but I probably will not purchase it again because it just feels a bit too much, too loud. However, I will try another Terra Nova product in the future since this is a great quality for the price.

If I passed someone wearing Rain in a hallway, I’d probably think to myself, “She’s using some nice soap. I should ask what it is.” It’s a very light combination of lily of the valley, musk and something green. It isn’t a groundbreaking fragrance by any means, and I’d normally give it three lippies and dismiss it as bland, but it’s been so inoffensive to my pregnancy-sensitive nose that I’m giving it a four out of sheer gratitude.

I love this scent. Light, clean, and never overwhelming. Most perfumes give me a headache, but not Rain.

This is a very nice, clean, slightly soapy smelling fragrance…I don’t imagine it would be offensive to anyone and I quite like it for days I want to go natural…but I probably wouldn’t repurchase simply because I prefer my perfumes to have bit more “oomph” to them..

I originally wore this in the early 80s, at the recommendation of a girlfriend who had worn it earlier than that. Repurchased this week b/c I had been searching for a lily of the valley fragrance that a) wouldn’t break the bank and b) would last (unlike Diorissimo… both counts).
Terra Nova Rain is a wonderful muguet, soft, clean, and uncomplicated. No fruit, wood, or civet to distract from the purity of its scent. There is a soft underlying “couch” of musk, but not nearly as much as TN’s China Lily (there is some serious musk and muguet!)
Please note: If you are avoiding Rain b/c of the unfortunate comparisons with J Lo Glow, I’d say give it a shot anyway. I like Rain much better, though it’s easy to see some similarities. Rain is softer and richer than Glow, and without the artificial edge that Glow develops. As a fragrance, Rain hangs together better and melds with the skin more. It’s sweet, soft, and flattering.

I’m on my third bottle of this lovely scent, and will definitely repurchase again. Rain is a fragrance oil and comes in a tiny, clear glass bottle with a gold cap. The price makes it very affordable. And even though you only get a small amount, it seems to last a fairly long time (unless you pour it on!). This is a soft, clean fragrance that is noticeable, but definitely not overpowering. Everytime I wear this, I get tons of compliments from men and women! I’ve been told that I smell “rich!” LOL! I recently purchased the body oil and the mist, hoping that it would make the fragrance last longer. It does wear off after a few hours, which is somewhat disappointing. The small flask is not particularly portable. I’m always worried that the screw on cap might come off in my purse, so I don’t carry it with me. I wish they made this in a cream formula too.

TerraNova Rain Perfume Essence. First time, I didn’t like it when I dotted a drop behind my neck as I used to do with spray colognes. It seemed somewhat heavy and old-fashioned. But a few months later, I put a drop on my wrist and fell in love with this fragrance. It smelled really nice, sweet and fresh for a long time. I’ll keep it for evening wear. A tiny bottle will probably last me a few years if just one drop is enough for a whole day.

After doing a little sleuthing, I found that Body Time and Terranova are related companies, owned by different halves of the pair of sisters-in-law who opened the Body Shop in California (not to be confused with the Body Shop UK which is pretty much everywhere). Terranova has a wholesale wing, known as Nectarine, so if a local retailer (or etailer) has certian kinds of lotion/body wash bases or uses the copyright/trademark symbols after fragrances like Rain, China Rain, China Lily, or China Musk, then you can be pretty sure that they are using Nectarine as a supplier.
All of that said, I really like the clean, green fragrance of Rain. It’s musky and fresh, stays close to the skin, and is one of the few muget-predominant scents that I can wear without souring. I have the Terranova perfume essence, but I get a Rain lotion and glycerine soap from The Soap Opera in Madison, WI. They must use Nectarine as their “House Brand” supplier, since the Rain scent is trademarked and identical to Terranova’s. It’s great when you get to smell fabulous AND save a few bucks, too.

I love the smell of Rain …. but, even with using the body lotion, the spray cologne, and a dab of the essence behind my ears, it doesn’t last during the day. Otherwise, it’s one of my favorites. abby
