Notes from Fragrantica: orange blossom, forest fruits and vanilla.
(Note, not a dupe (per se) of Pink Sugar as Acqua e Zucchero came first by 2 years—just something to keep in mind)
I have to agree with other reviewers, this one does remind me of both Soft by Al Rehab and Pink Sugar by Aquolina. That’s not a bad thing, as they are all enjoyably sweet and lighthearted fragrances. This one is really smooth and is not headachey, but honestly for the price I can’t see indulging in a full bottle unless there is really some note or accord in the Al Rehab or the Aquolina that you can’t stand. I have a 10ml decant I will gladly use up though, as I smell DIVINE, a cloud of sweet candy floss and vanilla. Very lovely.

Acqua e Zucchero has more of a berry scent to me than Pink Sugar. It also does not have a liquorice note like Pink Sugar. I don’t know that I would have made a connection between these two fragrances if I had not seen the comparison made by so many other reviewers. Pink Sugar is more of a vanilla woody oriental to me, and Acqua e Zucchero is more of a fruity vanilla. It took me a few samples to really understand how pretty Acqua e Zucchero is. It’s a very girly fragrance with berries and vanilla, the berries being much more pronounced to me than the vanilla. I think it’s a fragrance for all seasons and puts me in a happy mood just sniffing it!

I received this in a swap and find it lovely. I get plenty of compliments when I wear it and it lasts and lasts ( over 10 hours). So I’m distressed by some of the other reviewers suggesting the formula may have changed. What a tradgedy-because what I have is fantastic and worth the money.

Berries marinating in pink sugar. This made me nauseous.

an expensive copy of pink sugar… i would never spend 150 euro for a copy

Cotton candy with lemon. For this price, this is absolutely ridiculous. I imagine this would be best on children and tweens. And it’s not because I don’t like sweet fragrances either (i.e., Chocolovers, Botrytis).

Think lighter version of Pink Sugar, with lemon. This is identical to pink sugar, except not so heavy, and it has a predominate note of citrusy lemon. An improvement to the heavy pink sugar(which smells nothing like airy fuffy cotton candy to me!) But, still not for me. Profumum’s other scent: ‘Dulcis in Fundo’, is another story! It is definitely worth a try, and a far better choice from this pricey, but high-quality line.

This is a lovely fragrance, composed mainly of cotton candy, powdered vanilla, sweet berries and a whiff of lemon. It’s a soft, cuddly, innocent, fluffy perfume, somehow, profoundly pink — not too surprising, as, as mentioned below, it smells almost identical to Aquolina’s Pink Sugar, just with even more sugar and a faint note of what I think might be pine. I love Pink Sugar, and I love this, but Pink Sugar is the one with the price tag that actually makes sense. I might buy Acqua e Zucchero if it happened to cost $75, but never for $190/100mL.

This has such a wonderful opening…bright and sweet and full of promise! The orange flower keeps the vanilla from being overly sweet. The berries are fresh and crisp, not syrupy sweet, and seem to brighten the composition. I detect anise in the opening as well but it isn’t listed as a note. When I first tested this…after the lovely first hour…it dried down to a boring vanilla. I then spritzed this and found the orange flower to be more apparent in the drydown. The lasting power was remarkable and I could still catch whiffs at the end of the day. If you are looking for a not-too-sweet vanilla with a bit of character…give this a try!
