Must weigh in on this one. For all the reviews, I expected the nose-searing horror of Calabasus. Instead I found a gorgeous, bright white floral. The tuberose isn’t the WHAM! tuberose of Fracas, the cedar isn’t the major cootchie note of Femme, and I didn’t find this haunting me or my other test subject three days later. Instead, we were gently surrounded in a soft white floral cloud, completely delicious, and lasting a reasonable, but not insane amount of time. One of the better purchases in a while. Stunning. Bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine, muguet, very delicate dust of wood in base keeping white flowers from being screechy.

I bought 3121 for a song(as the saying goes) on QVC – really underpriced and not advertised. I guess it’s because of the bruhaha that Prince had with the company about creative control or something.
Anyhow, this is a worthy, pretty and sexy scent! It’s not at all like the fragrance recipes currently flooding the market, which is a good thing to me. 3121 has subtle floral notes of tuberose and jasmine over woods. These notes harken back to the late 1970s and early 1980s for me, making it almost retro-like but in a wonderful way. It’s new and uniquely crafted.
This is a womanly fragrance and definitely not kiddish, teen spiritish or sporty. Howeve,r it’s not overwhelming or heavy. And, I received compliments on it when wearing it so far!
The body cream that came with the EDP spray has high quality ingredients and applies very nicely as well.

Did you ever see a horror movie where an amorphous blob is trying to form into something? It will take the form of this or that but never really solidify. That is what I get from this perfume. Love Prince and figured if anyone would come up with a distinctive scent, it would be him. I’ve never bought a perfume that had such multiple personalities. Throughout the dry-down process, it gives you the vague whiff of several familiar perfume brands but never actually develops into anything. In the end it just makes a that little farting sound of air going out of a balloon.

I love his talent-BUTTHIS stuff is not for me–my husband said it was OK-whatever that means…he was not as enthusiastic as he was with my last fabulous choice-Andy Tauer Maroc Rose-he loved that.
But this is off the beaten path like McQueen’s first fragrance-different,not in a good way FOR ME.

This smells very “androgynous” to me. It starts off sweet, and then a nasty, masculine woody, smoky scent is the dry down. I was hoping for something more feminine and sweet. I just don’t care for it at all.

This is an extreme floral with out smelling old lady-ish. It’s very feminine, and sort of addictive to me. Very hard for me to describe this one.

I don’t feel I can say anything bad about this perfume, but I am not as enthusiastic about it as I was hoping I would be. Primarily because, while it does not smell like many other cookie-cutter celebrity and mass market scents, it is not particularly original either. From the moment I smelled it, I felt I was already familiar with it. It reminded me of quite a few fragrances, all of which I like to some extent but don’t love. Such as the opening notes for Sira des Indes, the floral bouquet of Pure Poison (only richer), Carnal Flower (less full-bodied though) and Allure (yet less powdery) and the clean patchouli and musk base of Lovely and Pure Turquoise plus hints of the incense and musk that is in Pure Poison. Prince’s music is original and cutting edge. His perfume isn’t. All the same, it is very wearable, and I’m sure I will be using up my 30ml bottle pretty fast. It’s just that kind of a fun fragrance that can be worn nearly anywhere and anytime. I’m curious to try the perfume concentration (it’s called “Xquisite Perfume” and comes in 15ml), as white florals usually smell better (creamier and richer) in higher concentrations, and in hopes they will also last longer before the cleaner and flatter base notes arrive.
