On me this had a very pungent sour vegetable odor that at the same time was bitter. Perhaps it’s that many fruity sweet florals usually do not work with my chemistry. Pour une Femme de Caron is downright putrid on my skin & just gets stronger as time goes on. This would best be worn if you want a role of one of the freaky witches in Macbeth.

I was surprised by my attraction to this scent– I generally gravitate toward the woodsy, green, often unisex fragrances. But I tried on a sample, and realized after a few minutes that I wanted it.
Yes, there is an initial faint sourness to the fragrance, but it’s hardly overpowering, and I find it’s gone within 15 minutes. I think it is just a brief clash of the notes. But the rose, the amber, the ylang-ylang, and the frankincense are all there, rich and feminine, and the second stage of the fragrance is perfectly balanced.

My HG. Beautifully balanced blend of creamy roses and sweet spices, that comforts and challenges me all at once. I agree with other reviewers that it does have an initial sharpness (rather than sourness) but I find it refreshing and love the way it morphs into the next phase. The final stage is pure femininity. I have never recieved many comments on my other fragrances (Chanel No19, Ralph Lauren Blue, Chanel Christalle, Philosophy’s Amazing Grace) and I wonder if that’s because I have never felt they were quite ‘the one’. When wearing this I have to sniff my wrists regularly, and every time I hug someone they always say I smell lovely.
Although this is a recent launch, it is actually based on an old recipe from the Caron archives. I hope people aren’t dismissing it just because they think it isn’t an old classic…
