I love this fragrance, this is a unisex fragrance that leans more on the masculine side but it also smells great on myself, I bought it as a gift for my SO (he loves this) it is absolutly my favorite scent for men. It just has that certain something it’s not to strong but it still lingers, with whiffs of a soft woody poudry sweet scent, the fragrance blooms on your skin. Would try before you buy because it is expensive, to see how it works with your chemistry. But I will recommend this for women and men!!

Back in June of 2019, I had a spritz of this in a tony men’s wear store in Ottawa and fell in love with the scent, though not the price. I will admit that I have a fairly large sized bee in my bonnet over Mr. Ford’s pricing generally – really steep prices for products that are often mediocre quality (some of his eyeshadow quads, which sell for well over $100 here, perform really poorly). However, in recent weeks, my local Sephora started to carry Oud Wood (they used to have a more limited selection of TF fragrances) and so I thought I’d treat myself to a bottle of this lovely stuff during the VIB sale. I went there and just to make sure that I wanted to part with such a steep sum, I sprayed myself with this and waited a few minutes and to my surprise, I really wasn’t all that impressed – certainly not in love enough to part with what would amount to about about $150 AFTER the VIB Rouge discount. If this were a more moderately priced fragrance, I probably would have purchased it but for the price, I really have to be in rapturous love. One good point – the scent lasts really long. I put it on around 11 this morning and I can still smell it on my arm at almost 7 pm.

I don’t usually like Tom Ford fragrances – I find them to be too loud, too brassy, too in-your-face – but I like this one. It’s actually subtle and soft: a dry woodsy perfume with notes of woods (oud, of course, but also sandalwood and rosewood), spices, amber, Tonka bean and vetiver. The company says it’s a unisex fragrance and I agree, although some reviewers think it’s more of a masculine scent. I think it would appeal to both sexes: men who find traditional masculine scents too sharp and too aggressive, and women who don’t care for the floral – fruity notes found in most traditional feminine scents. It’s a perfect fragrance for snuggling in front of a fireplace on a chilly fall or winter evening.

I don’t really get oud at all. I get a soft, powdered wood scent with strong licorice notes. It’s quite pretty, very soft. Not the almost medicial, rank sappy bark scent I am accustomed to in ouds. Still a nice fragrance, but as others have said, you must try it before buying a full bottle. It evidently is very different on people.

A scrubber for me, and my husband.
Smelling it from my sample vial, it is delicious and perfect. But it sours on our skin. Maybe sour is the wrong word. Rotten is a better word. Rotted something.
I hate writing this, but just a forewarning to those looking to purchase – sample first. I love Oud, and I like that it’s a recurring undercurrent in many TF fragrances. But this one just failed for us.
I ordered my samples from STC, and the quality and authenticity is without question. It’s just that Oud Wood sucked on us both 🙁

I loved everything about it when I tried it on my wrist but it bothered my nose so much during dinner time I had to wash it off.

I love this fragrance. It is not the first Tom Ford I’ve tried and loved, but it’s the first one I’ve really fallen head over heels for.
The opening is a lot more fresh than I expected—a bit like wet pine toothpicks at first (but not in a bad way!)…it softens and deepens into something spicy, rich, warm, and comforting very quickly.
Every time I’ve worn this I CANNOT stop smelling my wrist, and it has great sillage and longevity is 6+ hours from one spray.
Oud is my favorite note and it is definitely prominent in this, but in a very friendly, NOT HARSH way. I can smell the rosewood and vetiver, but the vetiver is also not as masculine as I’m used to, and that’s a good thing. This is a soft unisex fragrance that wears well on either gender. Nothing sharp, harsh, or headache-inducing here, just a very well-blended gorgeous scent.
This is definitely full-price, full bottle worthy. I will make this one MINE someday, instead of just living off of the large decants and department store counter spritzes that have been the provider of my fix.
Yes, I’m addicted to this scent, and I don’t mind admitting that.

Notes: Notes: cardamom, rosewood, pepper; aoud, sandalwood, vetiver; amber, tonka bean and vanilla.
Opens with a sweetish resin note layered over a thin spices-and-woods accord. What I see is rather lacklustre, but thankfully the notes begin to bloom on my skin soon enough and my patience is rewarded by a pleasant woodsy-resinous scent perfect for colder days. Truth be told I see nothing remarkable in this composition, neither what the quality of ingredients nor what their concentration is concerned. I do not understand how this lukewarm scent could be a reworking of the wonderful M7.

I never knew M7 but read that these two are similar. So I finally sampled Oud Wood and immediately I was transported to my English classes at high school and the smell of the professor. He would always apply a lot. And now that I know what the add of M7 looked like and think of the professor spraying himself with M7, haha, what an image! Funny.
Anyway, Oud Wood is fresh and the oud has a licorice quality to my nose. I would classify it as a masculine scent. Not a skanky oud at all, very clean. Rather a fresh woody fragrance.

The reason I say I wouldn’t buy this product again is mainly because – and I’m NO expert BUT – I think this smells VERY much like “Joop” by Joop – the men’s fragrance! And I haven’t checked the price on that in a looooong time (nor do I know if it’s even still being made) but I bet Joop is much less pricey!! I got a decant of this from theperfurmedcourt.com site and “Joop” is all I can think of when I’ve worn it. I happen to like Joop, so that’s okay (more so on a guy though). I think TF leans heavily to the masculine side – unisex… maybe, but hardly. Couldn’t fairly comment on packaging as I bought it in a generic decant bottle.
