“Mandarin, jasmine, honey, licorice, sandalwood, vanilla, cognac, rum.”
I love vanilla fragrances (with Indult’s Tihota, Atelier’s Vanille Insensee, and Solstice Scents’ Estate Vanilla being my HG vanillas), but this one doesn’t work on my skin at all.
I think it’s the honey and jasmine going all wrong on me, but something in this smells strongly of sour BO, and that sweaty impression never fades away. The vanilla itself isn’t really as rich and creamy as I like my vanillas either. It’s more of a sharp, musky vanilla.
After 3 hours of wear, Note Vanillee was a scrubber for me.

It is pure magic! LOVE it. It is everything I’d hoped Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille would be, but wasn’t. It is not synthetic (to my nose) or very sweet. Its boozy, but not over the top. Has great lasting power. The longer its on me, the better it smells.

I find this to be a replica of L’artisan Havana Vanille, only much softer. Havana Vanille is bold and in your face. I find Note Vanille to be much more subtle.

Agree this is similar to L by Lolita Lempicka.

I received a vial of Note Vanillee and it was instant love …… I was so smitten that I asked for the 100ml bottle as one of my Christmas presents (it was my favorite gift!) I also own L de Lolita and totally get the comparisons, however, L de Lolita is much more in your face, sweeter and has a funkiness factor while I find Note Vanillee, more sophisticated ……. I adore the booziness and vanilla which stands out on my skin (to me L de Lolita is the loud, little sister, while Note Vanille is the older, more sophisticated sister with a dark side ……. LOL) My only complaint is that Note Vanillee is hard to find in the states (luckysents.com is the only place that has it,) and while it is pricey, it is worth it to me …….. my body chemistry does well with sweeter fragrances, and while this does have sweetness, it is not loud and I cannot get enough of the boozy vanilla ……. I am so in love!!!!!!!

This review is based on a sample vial, which I mention not just because I didn’t have any experience with that purdy packaging, but because I do think it makes a difference to spray vs. dab perfume onto your skin. Anyway, in this case I dabbed, and this opened with the honeyed nectar goodness of Etat Libre d’Orange’s Noel au Balcon. I’m not the biggest gourmand lover, and this is a touch sweeter, so I much prefer (the much cheaper) Noel au Balcon. The boozy, licorice quality emerged the longer it stayed on my skin, and suddenly all those L de Lolita Lempicka comparisons made sense. For whatever reason, I can’t STAND L, despite my love for vanilla–I find it frothy, cloying, and just plain BAD, and while Note Vanillee is a tad less hot and breathy, this still isn’t a favorite. At all. I don’t recommend the scent, but, if you DO like or can at least stand L de Lolita, by all means give this a shot. If you like the sweet honeyed opening, I also highly recommend Noel au Balcon (hell, I just plain recommend Noel au Balcon because it’s a beautiful fragrance that actually fits quite nicely with this fragrance family).
Notes via Luckyscent: mandarin, jasmine, honey, licorice, sandalwood, vanilla, cognac, rum

Citrus vanilla. Not much different than L de Lempicka on my skin, except that Lempicka is richer and deeper. This has a crisp edge to the citrus, but overall it’s just another boring citrus vanilla without anything to set it aside from the hundreds just like it. I didn’t get any of the interesting notes reported by others. Yawn.

This is MY perfect vanilla scent. It’s boozy, but not too much so, sophisticated, complex and not too sweet. It has just enough diversity of notes not to be a plain jane, yet the vanilla definitely dominates. I am in love with this fragrance and the totally gorgeous bottle it comes in, too. It also has excellent lasting power. DH loves this one, too, which is always a good thing! I found the following description on a fragrance blog and it sums up my personal sense of this scent perfectly:
“Perfume of Parfums M. Micallef Note Vanille is like a symphony of a grand perfume orchestra. At first there is subtle Mandarin and Hesperide. The heart note is based on Jasmine and flowers. These create the very special Perfume Note of this Scent. Santal, Amber, Bourbon-Vanilla, Cognac and Rum round off the whole composition. A new Masterpiece is born.”
I agree completely, this is a masterpiece!

I’m not the sort who likes one-note vanilla fragrances, but boy if I was this would be instant love. Amazing lasting power, a rich, unique vanilla, while still being obviously, vanilla.

This is a gorgeous vanilla- sweetened with honey and all the other notes in this (listed as per reviewer below) make this a great vanilla that isn’t one-dimensional. I’m not a huge fan of licorise or too much booze, and luckily, there’s not much of either in here. I cannot comment on comparisons to Blue Sugar or Lolita bcoz I’ve never smelt them. However I can say, as I have Indult’s Tihota, that if you’re agonising over not being able to afford Tihota (but you’ve smelt a sample and love it) this may well satisfy that lemming and much much more. My nose detects the same vanilla in this that Tihota has. Tihota is just the one vanilla scent with no added notes, but this vanilla smells like the Tihota vanilla, plus all the other yummy notes. Also, I suggest that if, like me, you found Guerlain’s SDV too boozy but liked it otherwise, this perfume may be a good choice instead. The first spray was a touch boozy, but it doesn’t last long at all before it sweetens up with honey, jasmin and a touch of rum. I wouldn’t say this is a ‘bad girl’s’ vanilla like Luckyscent suggest, but I love the way the deep vanilla is lightened and sweetened with the other notes and it maintains the two contrasting qualities, sending me into a spin whenever I sniff it. Maybe that’s what they mean by ‘bad’ – it’s dark/heavy and sweet/light at the same time. A really gorgeous fragrance!
