This started as an interesting combination of charred, smoky wood and leather, developed metallic nicotine notes and then suddenly went south when a butter note entered and ruined everything. What was an interesting, perhaps challenging scent became unwearable fast. lasting power was great: I couldn’t get it to scrub off and had to kill it with sunscreen to get it out of my nose. Nasty.

This is THE worst smelling MAC shadescent there is. I own Candy yum yum and Ruby Woo.
I’m glad I got a sample of this and tried it out at home. It is just awful. I can’t even describe what is smells like because as soon as I put it on I had to wash my wrist 3 times and cover it with a different perfume.
I sprayed it on a Kleenex for my dad, mom, my brother and his girlfriend to smell. All of them did not like it at all!! It’s horrible. Like an ashtray, burnt leather, and ick.

This is the first fragrance I have ever reviewed.
Before purchasing My Heroine, I went the the MAC counter twice – and sprayed in on twice. I had to “live” in the fragrance before I made up my mind. Then I went to ebay, and found some that was not full price – just in case in bombed on me. It did not.
This is a really unique fragrance for the gal who is tired of fragrances that seem to smell like everything else or everyone else. MAC markets it as smelling like cordovan leather. I dont get that from Heroine. What I get is cedar and smoke, incense, and something sweet, almost salty. I would not go as far as to say it could be a man’s fragrance…but maybe.. Its not a fragrance easily classified, summer, winter, day or evening. Any time, any season, is what I think.
This is love it or hate it scent, like Thierry Mugler’s Angel. For the record, I also love Angel. Both are not floral. I would definitely re-purchase this and hope that it is a permanent part of MAC’s collection.
