I so wanted to love this–so many bloggers and YouTubers do. I believe it has patchouli in the base. It’s not mentioned on the Guerlain website, but it’s there. There are other fragrance sites that indicate that it’s there. That’s all I can smell on the dry-down. It smells dirty and stale to me. Definitely a headache inducer. I tried to live with it for a while, but when you can’t wait to wash a fragrance off, it’s not a good sign. Some state that the floral is what they get, but I don’t. It’s a powdery patchouli old stale scent on me.

Picked this up on a whim in Montreal Airport (duty free) and I’m very pleased that I did! I love how warm it is without being heady or cloying. It has a bit of spice in it – but much different than the typical kind which can give me a headache. For lack of a better description, it’s more of clean, fresh sort of warm spice. Must be the hints lavender with the vanilla? Whatever it may be, I find it gorgeously sensual rather than overtly sexy – if that makes any sense.
At first spray, it seems like it will be too intense but the die down is fairly quick leaving me with the subtle aforementioned warm, sensual fragrance that I catch whiffs of randomly throughout the day.
I love this scent. As it is winter here now, I don’t know how it wears in the summertime.
One qualm I have is with the spray nozzle as I can’t control how much comes out depending upon how hard I press; it either sprays out a lot at once or sprays little to nothing. I wish i could do smaller spritzes rather than one pump. However, this seems to be an issue with nearly all perfumes bottles produced in the last 5 years (probably all using the same cheap nozzle manufacturer). Other than that, this is the first EDP that I’ve bought in a looooong time which I absolutely love.
As always with Guerlain, the bottle itself is very pretty, classy and looks simply lovely sitting on the dresser or bureau.

What can I say, the most beautiful scent. This perfume smells exactly what I want to smell like. This is now my signature scent. I smell the lavender, vanilla, sandalwood. I love how it is sharp but yet warm with just enough vanilla to make you want more. There will never be a perfume for me better than this….

I finally found my signature scent. I love how subtle this perfume is, it’s not heavy or migraine inducing. When I first spray it I get a blast of herbal lavender but then it tones down into a warm vanilla. I dont get the references to tobacco but there is a woodiness there that reminds me of a spicey campfire. The smell has a vintage feel because of how delicate it is. Sophistication and elegance in a bottle, just wish it was longer lasting.

Sweet and spicy fragrance. Lasts all day and can still smell it on my laundry on wash day. Don’t know anything more about fragrance other than what I like and what smells good on me about perfumes like all the reviews before me, just know that it is a beautiful fragrance, somewhat pricey, and I love it and wear it when I want to feel special. Will continue to buy it.

I love Mon Guerlain, it is addictive..I love its aromatic vibe with a smooth lavender, it gives the scent a certain freshness throughout, with a sweeter smoother dry down…now, I bought my bottle in France, then I purchased one in Canada..I couldn’t believe how different they smelled, i thought the one bought in Canada had turned bad…The version bought in North America is more smoky, more gourmand, when the one bought in France is fresher, and doesn’t have that smoky vibe, anyhow, I spoke with an American importer of french perfumes, she comfirmed to me that perfumes going for export can be tweaked a bit, and end up smelling different…because the perfume Industry is self regulated, nobody is aware of those differences…it is fascinating to me !! I sent samples of both to a couple of friends with good noses, to check if they could notice a difference…sure enough, they could..so as much as possible, I buy my perfumes in France..anyhow, lovely feminine creation, distinctive, unique, not typical of Guerlain, just full of beauty from top notes to the base…I also think it wasn’t treated fairly when it came out, like really, it isn’t a vintage, it is modern, so it gets put down..so weird !!

Mon Guerlain is another perfume that makes me wonder why it’s not more popular. It is sweet like many other popular fragrances (La Vie Est Belle, Flowerbomb, Coco Mademoiselle, Armani Si), but it is very distinct because of two major differences: the exclusion of patchouli and the inclusion of lavender. Lavender isn’t used much in women’s fragrances, so it is a unique and welcomed change of pace in Mon Guerlain. It adds a balance to the vanilla and tones down the sweetness. Mon Guerlain is slightly powdery, which I enjoy but others might not. I also like the plain, classy bottle and the lavender pink juice.
One thing that really bugs me is some of the perfume snobbery I witnessed on the fragrance boards after Guerlain released this fragrance. People were upset about Guerlain “selling out” by giving into the current gourmand trend. Others were upset that Guerlain chose Angelina Jolie. I think if YSL or D&G or pretty much any other perfume house had released this same exact fragrance no one would have complained. In fact, these same perfume snobs would have LOVED it! They see Guerlain as some sacred pedigree that they must protect. But, Guerlain is just a company. Money is what they want. They still make Jicky and LHB and Shalimar and Samsara for all the purists… it really isn’t that serious.
If you are looking for a more unique gourmand, then test out Mon Guerlain. I’m running through my 1oz bottle and probably will buy the 3.3oz during Sephora’s November 20% off.

I received a sample of this last November and tried it out for a while. I am super sensitive to perfumes (many cause migraines for me) so I have to tread lightly when trying new scents. Not only did this pass the migraine test, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it once the sample ran out. I treated myself to a bottle and it had become my favorite winter fragrance . Its warm vanilla scent feels like I’m wrapping myself in a cozy blanket. It’s comforting but not cloyingly sweet – it’s sophisticated yet can be worn every day. I love it!

After multiple samplings of Mon Guerlain when it was launched in spring of ’17 I did buy a full bottle the following fall, and I have been enjoying it a lot, so much so that it’s close to being empty! Yes, I also wasn’t a fan of the ad campaign but my main reason for holding off on buying was that initially I simply wasn’t sure whether this fragrance was unique enough to add it to my already pretty large collection. I do see some faint similarities with La Vie est Belle from Lancome and a few more with Mon Exclusif from Guerlain, neither of which I own. The latter is not so surprising as Mon Exclusif was created by the same famous Guerlain nose, Thierry Wasser. For reference, Guerlains that I do own are Shalimar, Terracotta, Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Cuir Beluga. After using it regularly for close to a year, I definitely think that Mon Guerlain is a very well made gourmand. Although it is this hugely successful best seller and crowd pleaser, I feel that Thierry Wasser has created a quality perfume which exudes elegance and style. It has good staying power on my skin and is never overwhelming. I have worn Mon Guerlain in all seasons and to many different occasions and it worked well in all of them. The opening features a fresh, herbal quality, due to lavender, which I find dry and very enjoyable. A few minutes later, the floral elements, I detect mainly Jasmin Sambac, come into play and the famous vanilla Guerlinade is definitely present also. Mon Guerlain is soft and sweet but neither boring nor too sweet in my opinion, I would recommend that fans of gourmand fragrances give it a try. I also much appreciate the design of the bottle. I find it classic and tasteful yet modern and the pinkish hue of the perfume is simply beautiful. I have already repurchased and I plan to keep this in my rotation.

I just love this fragrance, just wish it wasn’t so pricey. Its warm, vanilla, with a tad of floral…its just a delicious scent. The EDP lasts all day. 2 spritz and your good to go all day. The bottle is beautiful, so that helps me justify the price.
