This review is for Miu Miu Twist EDP. Twist doesn’t have its own entry on Makeupalley, so I had to put my review here. Sorry if that causes any confusion or frustration.
I received a sample of Twist from Sephora. The reason I was excited to review Twist is because the second I smelled it I thought of Britney Spears Fantasy (the pink bottle). None of the reviews I’ve read for Twist mention it, but perfume IS subjective so maybe others don’t smell what I’m smelling. But, to me, they’re very similar. I know many of us were fans of Fantasy while we were growing up, but the formulation has changed a lot over the years. Miu Miu Twist is like a grown up version of Fantasy. If you were a fan of Fantasy then test out Miu Miu Twist EDP to see if it might be a good replacement.

Fragrances are so different on different people so take this review as one person’s experience. On me, this is a fresh floral scent without any sweetness or “peppery” note. I was surprised to read all the reviews about how peppery this is…that just goes to show how YMMV. While it’s pleasant, it doesn’t last. I probably won’t repurchase.

I was unimpressed with this when I sampled it at the dept store upon its release. However, I have had a sample lurking around for months, and I finally decide to give it a second and more through trial run. For my nose, this leads with a blast of citrus almost reminiscent of Calyx, to the extent I ran to Fragrantica to see if grapefruit is a note. It developed quickly into a citrus supported lily of the valley with hints of other florals dancing around the heart. I like this a lot and could see going FB for spring.

Beautiful, fresh, airy, green, and floral. This is a scent that made me close my eyes when I smelled it. It is light but noticeable. Strong, fresh lily and rose with subtle notes of pepper. If you typically enjoy gardenia, you will like this. It’s smooth and nostalgic – I told my coworker that I thought it reminded me of the 90’s for some reason and she agreed. Really nice and worth trying!

I love this fragrance and the miu miu l’eau bleue. I accidentally bought this roller ball the other day when I meant to buy the l’eau bleu (this one came in a blue box). I decided to try it out before deciding to keep or return. It starts out with a floral that is fresh, creamy, and inoffensive. The “pepper” note, which I think is the akigalawood/patchouli is the best thing I have ever smelled. I can tell that not everybody feels that way 🙂 But if you like earthy fragrances, I think you should give this one a chance (and the l’eau bleu) I find that pepper note to last the longest, but that’s what I love about the fragrance. I find that this does last very long, all day, I can even smell it on my wrist when I wake up the next morning.
The reviews on this are very mixed. Either this reacts very differently on different skin, or people’s noses are smelling different things, or both.
This is not sweet or cloying. It is fresh and creamy and earthy. This one has more floral/creamy than the l’eau bleue. A bit more sophisticated I think.
I think I’ll be saving up for full size bottles of both. Even though I don’t own this bottle, just looking at it I can tell it would be nice if it was a little transparent and you could see what is left. However, both bottles are extremely attractive.

I love this…. it’s sublime. It simply doesn’t last on me. Lasts longer if I spray my clothes but I am going through it so quickly, I don’t think the biggest bottle is going to last me very long.

This is an absolutely OK lily of the valley/jasmine scent. It’s entirely pleasant, but nothing very special. It’s a nice green floral that won’t bother anyone. If I got more of it for free, I’d use it, but I probably won’t buy it (despite the adorable bottle).

I have and really like Miu Miu, love the bottle, and notes per parfumo.net are:
Akigalawood®, Green notes, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-valley, Rose absolute
The scent is mostly a lightly sweet lily-of-the-valley floral — with a light pepperiness, which apparently comes from that Akigalawood note, listed first. I do love lily-of-the-valley fragrances, enjoy wearing Miu Miu, and I don’t smell pepper personally, but others do.
My Sephora S/A said that after she had worn it and opened her locker at work later, out floated a scent of pure pepper and nothing else. She informed me that it starts out a pretty & sweet light floral but gradually dries down to the fragrance of pure black pepper, and it was all she & her coworkers could smell after it dried down.
I’ve worn it to work only twice — and I really enjoyed the pretty light floral scent — but one little blonde coworker popped up with “I smell pepper!” at our morning meeting. The 2nd time I wore it, this same coworker again said, “I smell pepper!” at our morning meeting. (grrrrrr, we determined it was my Miu Miu, and I didn’t appreciate her outbursts)
Sick and tired of hearing that, I stopped wearing my Miu Miu altogether — but now encouraged by others’ positive reviews below, I’m going to bring it out again and wear it on these crisp cool fall days — because, yes, I do enjoy it, and because it’s a good time of year for a little spice anyway. Unfortunately. it seems to hit the noses of some others as pure black pepper — not mine, personally, while I’m wearing it, but others’ cries of “pepper!” can become annoying and spoil it.
I’m not sure this scent will survive long on the market, because of that one polarizing note. Because of it, Miu Miu is one of the full bottles that I do regret buying. I recommend wearing & testing for several hours — esp around other people — since it does change a lot from first spritz to drydown. If I hear more comments from people about smelling pepper when I’m out & about, I may end up just getting rid of it.

One of my top two fragrances of all time, along with Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. Seriously- it was a love from first sniff. It’s sweet, but not overly sweet, oriental, but not too heavy, with slightly “woodsy” note- exactly what I like (that mix of sweetness with woody/musk notes). Lily of the valley note is also quite dominant. The bottle looks beautiful on vanity, the fragrance is long lasting. It’s the perfect autumn/winter scent. (I like it so much that I used to spray it on my wrist and say to a friend/family member “just smell it, it’s so gorgeous!” 😀 And most of them loved it too!).
The only downside is that you cannot see how much perfume is left in the bottle.
