It’s cheap, you can get it at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, it was released 100 years ago and it’s by Liz Claiborne (not the most hip and trendy designer)……but so what. Its an awesome little fragrance. It’s beachey, citrusey and tropical smelling and is very strong and lasts and lasts and lasts. It is heavy on the mango but thats okay since i love mango. Mandarin orange is in the mix too along with orange blossom, ginger and sandalwood at the base. The ginger to me is very noticeable and makes me think of sitting down at a table at a cute little Japaneses restaurant eating sushi with an occasional piece of ginger. The bottle is cool too. A tall cylindrical bottle with elegant hues of orange, gold, red and brown that make me think of a lovely sunset while lying on the beach. I dont understand all the negative reviews for this little loverly. I guess because its cheap, you can get it at TJ Maxx and its by an unhip designer. But like i said. So what. Check it out and give it a fair chance. I think you’ll like it.

Liz Claiborne Mambo women’s EDP is the formulation I have in my collection. I saw it somewhere quite a few years ago and sniffed it, liked it, took it home and wore it only very occasionally. It fit my fun summery category of scents.
I’d pretty much forgotten about it and then one day we were out eating lunch or something and nearby was this tan, fit, kind of boyish surfer girl who smelled freshly showered and was wearing Mambo. It was a sunny warm southern California day and that impression in that moment changed my whole view of what Mambo was all about.
It isn’t serious perfume for somber occasions. It’s a generous blend of orange blossom, mango, hibiscus, ginger and many other notes. This is a fragrance of summer fun in a bottle. It isn’t light smelling! No need to over apply. I would guess that many maligned fragrances are simply the victims of the over zealous individual with a heavy hand. Just a couple of sprays! When people come into your personal space they will get that wonderful orange blossom and fruit sillage. People (men) will probably do a double take because you smell so good. I think my sense of smell has actually become more sensitive with age which is kind of opposite of what we’re always told.
Always you should go with your gut instinct, wear fragrance that pleases you, wear it in modest amounts (most important of all) and just don’t over think it! Then you will really own it!
I love seeing the low ratings for this. It means 2 things to me. It is still widely affordable and I won’t be smelling it on everyone else.
I’ve made sure to replenish my supply of this. It still isn’t my all the time scent but it will keep it’s place in my collection.

I would consider this a throwback perfume. I’m surprised it hasn’t become a rave amongst hipsters who like 90’s/vintage/tacky stuff. Yes, it’s definitely the poor woman’s luxury perfume. You can tell it’s a cheap perfume that is desperately attempting to pass off as high class. Like the low income woman who has a bad hair bleach job and wears fake Gucci. But that’s the charm in it. Call it ghetto fabulous if you will.
Mix of citrus, berry, and some kind of white floral. Tacky as hell, and that’s why I love it.
Lasting power is less than 30 min on me.

I had this when it 1st came out in 2001 (my husband gave it to me for Mother’s day)and it was a top favorite and my signature scent for 2yrs!
The scent on me was warm,fruity,tropical/mango-y..I loved it so much,it was not to strong or light! it had very nice staying power on me.

I do not like this on me. I sprayed some on at Gordmans while shopping. I had to go into their bathroom and wash it off. Strong, stale and cheap smelling on me. Lots of florals and citrus smell. No warmth at all. I am sure on the right person this is nice but not on me.

I picked up a small bottle for seven bucks so I am glad I wasn’t out a lot of money. This one is not a winner for me. I was expecting a lot more fruit but all I got is lot of floral, with very prominent orange blossom. And I don’t like orange blossom. Hmm, its kind of strange but to me it smells simular to MJ Daisy except Daisy is more grassy and doesn’t have fruity dry down like Mambo.
I may try to use up my small bottle but this is not my kind of scent. It smelled cheap and dated to me, sorry gals:((

I think I was at marshalls with my friend one summer day and we were looking thru the fragrances and she pointed this one out too me. She said her aunts wear this.. so I wanted to smell it and I loved it. I can see why they all wear it. I would wear this when we went to the beach and it reminds me of those carefree summer days. This fragrance is strong and it stays on forever..it smells warm and fruity and kind of floral. I have gotten a lot of compliments on it and have even been asked by guys where I got it so they can give it to their wife!! Perfume is a very personal item and it is not a one size fits all, so if u don’t like strong sents or fruity floral ones, this is NOT for u!!

A little tart at first, but after a few minutes it becomes sweet, soft, warm and fresh. I’m loving it and am garnering compliments on the scent. Definately fruity (mango) and soft floral (orange blossom). Very soft drydown with a little spicy heat from sandalwood and ginger flower.
