One of my favorite jasmines out there.
I find it has more depth, more warmth and more oomph than A La Nuit, which I like a lot.
Think of it as A La Nuit’s more troublesome room mate:
MPG Jasmin is dirtier, more animalic and very, VERY suggestive.
I might consider wearing A La Nuit to meet his parents, but I would never dare wear MPG Jasmin to make a good first impression.
It’s the perfect scent to choose if you want a little jasmine with your indoles, blush inducing memories and compromising position. Hehe. 😉

Oh my! This is a big green, lush jasmine to start. I almost worried it was too big, but it calmed down after about 20 minutes into a real beauty. A tiny bit of rose whispers quietly in the middle section reminding me a little of Joy and then the moss picks up to finish. Great quality, but strictly for jasmine lovers only.

Love, love, love this scent (along with MGP Tubereuse – what artistry in fragrances!). This is a soft, lush, very feminine and very sexy like-real-Jasmine flowers scent . It vaguely reminds me of Joy but this is deeper and richer and more complex than Joy (which I also love). I get no celery note at all which some others have experienced and to me, it’s a true soliflore – I get no other notes other than pure, fresh jasmine. Expensive and worth it!

Once again, after reading some of the reviews for MPG’s Jasmin I feel compelled to stop and say a little thank you to my skin chemistry. Maybe even light an MPG candle for it or something. It appears to have protected me from the dreaded celery note that other reviewers have perceived in this jasmine. I *loathe* the celery note. It’s ruined many a violet fragrance for me. MPG Jasmin is one of my High Holy Grail scents. I couldn’t live without it. On me it is soft, lush, sexy, slightly green and very true to the jasmine I’ve smelled in the tropics throughout my life. I find it to be somewhere between the intensely opulent jasmine of SL’s A la Nuit (which I adore as well) and the sharper, greener, thinner jasmine of Creed’s Jasmal.

I’d always been puzzled by people describing jasmine as “sweaty” until I tried this. The first few moments had an acrid sharpness that did remind me of sweat. That aspect went away, and it then was reminiscent of the cheap jasmine incense I bought at Pier 1 in 1968, when I was 13 (before I was thrown out of the store for running screaming through the aisles with my best friendI). I waited for the oakmoss to come out–a favorite note–and was finally rewarded. It turned into a floral chypre which I liked quite well. In fact, I had this on one hand, Pecksniff’s Green Chypre on the other, and Mitsouko on both arms, and was happy in my little chypre world (life is a bed of mosses!).

A terribly disappointing, watery jasmine that becomes sharp (as all MPGs with the exception of George Sand seem to do on my skin) after a short time. Lasting power is poor. If I closed my eyes and smelled this fragrance I would not be able to identify it as jasmine, a flower I adore which grows profusely in my backyard. The search for a heady, sexy jasmine fragrance continues…

I have a sample of this and I think it is gorgeous!! It is a soft jasmine scent intermingled with musk which makes it very sexy, and unique.
It doesn’t smell like the others in
the MPG line.
It is not a harsh jasmine I find
Jasmal to be too strong and green.
Worth a try very sophisticated!!!

I received this candle as a Christmas present. I’m not a major floral fan, particularly jasmine and I was actually contemplating exchanging it for another. But decided I’d give it a go. I put this in my hall, which is narrow, but a long area. As I said I’m not a huge floral fan( though I have a soft spot for their tuberose) so I can’t give you an in depth description. I lit it and let it work its magic. I was impressed. Within 30minutes my hall, stairs and landing was filled with a jasmine scent. A very pleasant Floral with a slight edge of powder…. it works and as florals go it’s a close second to the tuberose I enjoy. The throw is excellent and it’s burning evenly. It’s bringing a bit of spring into my dreary January.

I have received a free baby size (35 g) of the Jasmin candle with my recent purchase from Diptyque. This candle has excellent throw. My candle is tiny (1” diameter), yet it is able to scent my entire house (open layout floor plan with a loft).
If you smell the candle straight, it smells too strong and somewhat artificial. After all, it is not natural jasmine absolute but a reconstruction. Besides the price being prohibitive, I am not even sure natural jasmine absolute would perform well when lighted. Once you light the candle, the fragrance impression improves and becomes more realistic. I was unsure when I smelled the jar firs (let me add I am not a jasmine lover), however, I loved it when it was burning. It smells of warm Summer nights with jasmine and honeysuckle blooming in the dark.

I love the smell of fresh Jasmine, and diptyque normally delivers. Unfortunately, this is one of few diptyque candles I will not purchase again. It’s almost sickeningly sweet, and didn’t feel as genuine as their other scents. That said, it has great throw if you can stand the scent. Unfortunately, it now sits on one of my bookcases as part of the décor.

Cire Trudon are now my fav candles w/Annick Goutal taking 2nd spot. I’ve owned 3 Diptyques and they were ok but I wouldn’t repurchase. This, however, I just smelled burning in a shop & I think it’s going to be my next candle purchase. It smelled very fragrant and realistic.

This is ok. Not a very strong fragrance nor does it have much throw. Pleasant. I would buy it again, unless I find a different brand of Jasmine candle with stronger fragrance and better throw.

I’m not as blown away by this candle as I thought I would be. It doesn’t burn at all cleanly and the throw isn’t as knockout strong as I had hoped. However it is a lovely jasmine smell (not too green, not too indolic, just jasmine) so I really can’t complain too much. The only floral Diptyque I would repurchase so far is Narcisse (except that in their wisdom they have discontinued it…).

This is the first high-end candle I have tried and it’s worth every penny. It burns cleanly and evenly with the most beautiful, true-jasmine scent and the throw is incredible. Literally I only have to light it for half an hour and it scents not only the entire room, but the adjacent rooms as well, *and* lingers on into the next day. I love it!

This scent proves the adage “be careful of what you wish for”: it is Jasmine in its truest sense- narcotic, cloying, sometimes dank and musty, and most of all, heavy. Joy is sort of a compromise in interpreting jasmine and rose, whereas MPG’s Jasmine goes all the way. If you are bold and eccentric, go for this!

MPG Jasmin smells like Grasse jasmine, which is hard to find among all the jasmine soliflores out there. I love it but honestly, if I’m going for Grasse jasmine, I might as well go all out and wear Joy which costs just a bit more for pure parfum and has so, so, so much more to offer being an artful composition.

I didn’t care for this scent at all. While I love many fragrances containing jasmine (e.g., Creed Spring Flower, Fleur de Comores, etc.), this fragrance smelled very harsh and had a chemical smell to it on my skin. It dried down much softer, very green, much like celery as already mentioned by other reviewers. Definitely not for me.

I’m so surprised that nobody has reviewed this one yet. This is my first Diptyque candle – I just had to try one to see what all the hype was about. There are only 2 or three small boutiques in my city that stock these, so I had to track them down. The guy in the shop I bought it from (a menswear shop!) said that Jasmin was his favourite, and the other SA said he like Tubereuse. It was a hard decision since I hadn’t smelt any of them. I felt tempted by the baies in the black jar, but it was AUD90 as opposed to AUD75. I was told that Jasmin was a safe one and I figured i had to start somewhere, so I took the plunge. At first I felt guilty about spending so much on a candle and I will have to go without other things to afford it (phone credit etc). I contemplated returning it but in the end I burnt it and it was so worthwhile. Maybe all candles do this, but it gave such a beautiful ambience to the room. And even unlit it had so much presence and looked so stylish. Little did I know that you don’t really need to light it in order to scent a room. It was only burning for a very short while before my bedroom was vvery strongly scented. Then the scent lingered into the next day, dispite having the windows open. The smell became a bit much at night and kept me awake a bit and I have since put it back in its box, but I can still smell it. Not that it smells bad, just so strong. I can see that this is going to last me ages. It doesn’t smell quite as delicate as real Jasmin, but it is pleasant enough and still the best candle I have ever tried. I guess I should try the others to put it into perspective. I can feel an addiction coming on
