After my last review of Tommy Bahama’s Pearl fragrance I need to write a more redeeming view of another one of his fragrances again and with Island Life I can. Island Life is not quite as tropical or beachy smelling to me as his other fragrances. Its very citrusy. Pear and mandarin. Tommy Bahama has down the scent of mandarin. A lot of his scents have a note of mandarin in them and they are so juicy and realistic. There are notes of vanilla and star anise but I do not detect a smidgen of them. Just citrus and floral notes like rose and peony and peach blossom. If the vanilla is there it is more of a light whisper in the base of the fragrance. Lasts a good six hours and sillage is decent. I guess Island Life does smell slightly tropical. Kind of like a romanticized version of a faraway place. Think of Bali Hai in the musical South Pacific. Also, it makes me think of the song by Sade called Smooth Operator. I think the video would smell like Island Life.
