Well. I was in a boutique sniffing all the TokyoMilk BonBon line, and when I got to this one, I stopped and thought…hm. Interesting.
Instantly the salesgirl just popped out of the ether RIGHT INTO MY FACE and said in a conspiratorial, worshipping tone: ‘Blake Lively wears this one’.
OMG…OMFG for reals? Blake Lively? Like, Blake Lively Blake Lively??? Errmagerrd, do you have more in the back? Go get it.
Yeah, that’s sarcasm. I could not care less what Blake Lively sprays on herself.
But it DOES smell good. IDK what the other reviewers are talking about; I certainly smell roses, although more faintly than I smell a citrus…and while it doesn’t smell like BOOZE, it does have a note that suggests the tipsy stuff without making you smell like you hide alcohol around your house and appear in public toasted off your arse.
No, it’s a ‘classy’ boozy note.
I like it a lot & have repurchased. It is…I want to say one ounce (doesn’t say on the bottle) and you’ll pay $28-35 depending on the shop.
Now that’s not a lot in a strict sense, but it IS in a way, because the lasting power is crap. I find I must take it with me on days I want to wear it to refresh. Because I go through it quickly it is more expensive than It seems.
That’s something I can say about all the TokyoMilk scents I have though (6-8?) they are all interesting and unusual…not for basic girls, but fleeting.
Go somewhere that carries them (sadly I’ve only seen them in hoity-toity boutiques)and sample!

I don’t live near a retail store Tokyomilk so I miss out on the opportunity to smell things before purchasing. I took a risk and bought a bunch of stuff with free shipping. Some products I LOVED and some I had to resell.
I received Gin & Rosewater as a sampler treat with purchase. It is GLORIOUS. Citrus Zest, Rosewood, Mimosa, and Mandarin.
Sounds really citrus-y but its a soft sweet magical smell. I can see why its named Gin & Rosewater. Its like soft delicate rose smell with a little punch to it.
Oh, I highly recommend.

I pretty much ordered this fragrance un-sniffed and i would say that i’m only kinda satisfied. Im a huge fan of Tokyo Milk so of course i ordered this fragrance with the cute rose picture on the bottle to build my collection. The notes seemed interesting enough but hmmmmm. This stuff is strong! It has a sharp pungent punch to it. I mean..it really gets up in your nose. I guess it’s a bit citrusy also!?!…like…citrus dish detergent or something? lol. It’s so not me but i guess alright depending on my mood or the occasion in wich i highly believe i’d reach for something else so this will more than likely be collecting dust on my vanity. It’s not totally “bad” though…i have to let it grow on me 🙂

Lasting notes of sugared citrus and light rose with a slight cool tone, that I take to be reminiscent of gin; not strong and piney like juniper, but like a quick waft from walking by a G&T drinker. It tempers the other notes well. I imagine soft pink, orange, and yellow when I wear this; it smells like happiness, distilled.

Received this in a swap box from some forums, so I didn’t buy it, but when I looked it up I was surprised to see what it sells for. In any case: this is what it says on the tin. Juniper-y gin, a dusting of rose, very clean and herbal. Since this is not Gin and ROSES, I had not expected a strong rose scent. Rosewater is a faint rose to me, and that’s exactly what this delivers. This is a nice perfume for when I want to smell clean, neat, and fresh. Like when I’m going to work. But on a day to day basis? I bet I won’t be reaching for this one. It lacks depth.

Wow, I am not sure that myself and the reviewer below smelled the same fragrance! I was immediately drawn to the Tokyo Milk line because of the adorable packaging and thematic elements. I sniffed Gin & Rosewater in the bottle and it seemed complex, interesting, and different. Good, right? So I spritzed some on my wrist… and proceeded to ruin the rest of my day.
I was out shopping with my mother, who is sensitive to a lot of fragrances. We got back in the vehicle and she was soon complaining of a headache. It wasn’t long before I had one too. Eventually she asked me if I’d bought an air freshener. That’s when it dawned on me. I stuck out my wrist for her to sniff and she made an awful face. “What IS that?!” I sniffed myself and sure enough, I was the source of the offensive odor. The horror. It smelled EXACTLY like an orange-scented toilet cleaning tablet.
I got no rose, no rosewater, and certainly no gin that I’d care to imbibe. I have no idea what it was supposed to be but it was a major, major miss. I was very disappointed and needless to say I did not proceed to purchase the perfume.

Sparkly, bouncy rose, very bright and cheerful. Juniper comes in with an herbal wave, floating that happy bouncy rose on an effervescent mist of gin. It’s a glittery happy summer scent. I really like this and will be buying a bottle. At this price point, you can’t really go far wrong. EDIT: I have a full bottle now, and while I don’t feel I did go wrong, I find that in larger sprays this has a melon edge on my skin that I don’t care for. The bright juniper just loses out somehow and I end up smelling like roses and melon. Not my thing. Still, I might keep it or I might swap it and I can’t deny the attraction this line has. If you get a chance explore it: It’s a lot of fun without being a lot of money.
