I thought this perfume had been discontinued years ago, so I was surprised to see it for sale on Sephora’s website. I decided to purchase the large 2.5oz bottle and I received my package today.
First, my perfume box is different than the one shown on this site. My box is covered in pretty, colorful flowers (like the Gucci floral print silk scarf). The bottle itself is the same, however. The smell straight from the bottle reminds me A LOT of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One EDP, which isn’t a great thing as The One kinda makes my stomach turn. However, on the skin Flora isn’t as heavy and thick as The One. It is more tolerable.
Sooooo, osmanthus is supposed to be the main note of Flora. I’m just not sold on that being the case. The house I grew up in had this amazing sweet olive tree/osmanthus tree in the backyard near the kitchen bay window. In the spring when we kept the windows open, the scent from that tree would fill the house with the most intoxicating scent… I just can’t even describe it. It’s like honeysuckle and jasmine had a perfect supermodel plant baby… Harps play and cherubs fly by when you smell real osmanthus. This Flora by Gucci… I’m not hearing the harps or seeing any flying diaper babies. It’s floral, but more like a citrus-y gardenia. Yet gardenia isn’t listed as a note. Plus, there’s something plastic-y mixed in that makes Flora smell artificial. Gucci should have spent a bit more time creating Flora. It could have been something very special if done correctly. And perhaps it would have been more popular and stood the test of time.
I don’t know what else to say. This isn’t a bad fragrance, but it’s lacking. Meh. Try before you buy.

I really wanted to like this, but it ends up being very sour and metallic on my skin. It’s too bad, because so many love this, but it is an instant scrubber for me.

Aiai would like to love it, but to much ripe fruity sweet sour flowers to me.
There is something of this smell left on a cabin-curtain where behind the beautyful flacon
is kept, and everytime I walk past it I still smell it, this overripe strong flower-bouquet
it makes me a little dizzy and weak in my stomach or is it head, it remins me of the
avversion I felt years ago towards Valentino-vintage, oops, another mature flower that takes
control of everything.
This fits in the so called late 70-begin 80-galleria in agosto-smell of Italian orange cities
where the marble pavements tremble in heat.
Very longlasting for the braves.

One of my very favorite perfumes. I have gone through so many bottles I’ve lost track.

I have repurchased this a thousand times over. It is a sweet flora scent that’s not overpowering and lasts the whole day. When the fragrance mixes together with my sweat, a sweeter smell is produced and I really like that. I also often hear people saying that I smell nice when they are seated next to me.
Overall, this is not some cheap fragrance that disappears within hours and it adapts itself to your body scent. Definitely would repurchase and I hope that they will never discontinue this!
