Writing this review because this an excellent cold weather/holiday scent and I think folks should give this little well kept secret a chance. The saga of Filigree is that it had a near cult following in the boutique/niche crowd. Then it was gone, then back seasonally, then on the Thymes website all year. The threat of discontinuation always hangs in the air with this. It has been back in various packaging incarnations, each more minimal than the last, but it’s the juice I go for, so the plain glass bottle it is now in I can happily live with. When it did finally come back LE after some time of being discontinued, I stocked up and don’t regret because this has been HG to me since the early 2000s when it first came out. It reminds me of my youth, freedom, of romances, of confidence. Filigree opens with a sharp blast of juniper and some indistinguishable spice (I am not personally a lavender fan, but I would say I catch some in the opening as well as ginger). The herbal/ginger/lavender part is actually new and not part of the older formula, and I wasn’t happy about it. But this part of the opening, which happily fades very quickly. If you love Clinique Wrappings, you won’t be put off by the intense woodsy aspect of the opening either. It is off-putting for some, however the dry-down is the amazing part. After the initial balsamic blast, there is a hint of resin smell, which to some = funk, though this is the amber part to my nose and it moves nicely into the cozy dry down, which is a gentle, clean powdery finish. It’s a weird paradox, the opening and dry-down, but it all goes. It reminds me a bit of creamy Chai tea in its combination of spice and smoothness. It is most certainly a cold weather scent, but I am so in love with it, I wear it year round. It reminds me of luxurious cashmere and a snowy walk through Central Park. The silage is poor, but I spray on my clothing and scarves and it at least lasts quite well there. I love sniffing my sweaters and coats! It sticks close to the skin after it settles and does not assail the noses of those around, which IMO is actually a good thing. Filigree is still outstanding as an EdP, however to to really get a sense of this fragrance, which is so sensual and unique, I recommend trying the body wash or lotion, which come out seasonally lately.

Filigree is a pretty soft fragrance. It’s not quite unique enough for my taste, but I do like the way it smells. It’s light and soft, cozy, ambery, slightly spicy-woody. I think most people would find this very pleasing and very few would find it offensive.

My sister gave me the smaller, roller version of this for my birthday, and I used it all within a couple of months and bought a full-size version, which is now almost gone too! The notes that are more prevalent on me are the amber and juniper berry, and it’s a surprisingly soft, satisfying combination. This is not overpowering by any means and the mix of coolness and warmth makes it nice for any season. Its lasting power is not terrific, which I appreciate in certain scents (when I don’t want to overwhelm the person next to me). The packaging is very pretty too.

I love the brown packaging on this line from The Thymes. Brown filigree design — the notes state that it should be spicy. I love spicy and floral so I thought for sure I’d love Filigree. But the truth is — it’s not very spicy or fresh smelling at all. It’s got a funky element about it — it’s sharpe and not quite citrus but not quite floral either. There’s a off blend to this that I can’t grasp at all. Kudos if you enjoy this and can wear it well.

I adore this scent. It smells divine to me, especially after a period of time of about an hour. It’s not overpowering at all–definitely a unique and beautiful scent! I will definitely purchase this again. Or perhaps the lotion or candle.

OK, I have the edp (and this is not a soap or gel, as the category states, but Ill add my 2 cents here). The notes are listed in review below. I purchased this impulsively, and decided later that day that I didn’t recognise myself in this frag and would return it. A few days went by and I found myself jonesing another whiff of this, and broke open the package. It is a pleasing unoffensive scent, which sounds boring, but it is saved because it is not a clone of any trendy scent out there now. Very wearable on daily basis, mild silage, last 3 hrs, and then stray whiffs unexpectedly. There is a slightly potpurri-dessert quality to this, but it is buried enough so that I don’t feel like I’m wearing a yankee candle, but does give an emotional food-comfort response, if that makes sense. It is vaugely masculine, fading into warm- not powdery, femine sweetness on drydown. They make a full line of products bearing this scent- candles, soap etc. The body butter smells nice, but the scent doesn’t last and the moisturising is so-so for the boutique price. 1.7 oz edp = $44 us.

I am not into florals, usually, but LURVE this scent! An amazing blend of amber, juniper berry, cedarwood, and neroli. Clean, classic, warm and refined! I always get compliments on this scent!
