What a lovely little fragrance with its own sense of chic and comfort. Hazelnut, cedar, oak. The Jo Malone website also mentions elemi, vetyver and moss. On my skin, it is quite a minimalistic fragrance where the impression it gives is more prominent than individual details of notes and I like it so. English Oak and Hazelnut is an airy, smooth hazelnut waft sitting on a base of slightly sparkly cedar for me. They say this is fresh hazelnuts, but I perceive them as just once roasted, lol. Fresh hazelnut has this green feel to it but what I smell is nuttier (and it feels so realistic) though this aspect is not exaggerated and does not carry English Oak and Hazelnut into nutty gourmand territory. The whole feel or the base is not milky, I don’t get any oily roasted hazelnut feel. It is just deliciously balanced. It is a comfort scent I guess but it still speaks of chic rather than that cozy, come and snuggle thing. I think the entire airiness and the sparkly wood base instead of a highly vanilic one causes this. Like, you could wear this to work with a beige silk shirt, little golden earrings, a cashmere cardigan and cat heels and it would not be totally out of order despite its realistic hazelnut. I like this aspect of Jo Malone’s aesthetic, where everything is like a watercolour so notes pulled from every day life are given a prettier quality. I sometimes get this with L’Artisan perfumes also. In my opinion, this is the whimsical being treated like something precious and I love it so. English Oak and Hazelnut keeps me at my casual comfort level but makes me feel chic as well. FBW to me and I can but it again and again. It wears close to my skin but I can smell this. Lasting power is around 3-4 hours but I don’t mind reapplying. I love it.

unisex and super sophisticated, i always get compliments on this. jo malone is always pricey because it’s not edp but this particular scent has enough body that reapplication is just a couple of sprays, if any.

I love this scent, it’s very strong and reveals multiple layers throughout the day. Definitely my scent for 2018

Got a sample of this in a magazine – so no, I did not shell out the $65 for the small or $135 for the large 3.4 oz. cologne. It’s a sweet, yet autumnal, masculine (unisex) scent. It reads very much like Men’s cologne. Appropriate for fall. i would not purchase this for myself – but MAYBE for a guy.
