This is a wonderful warm scent that works better in chilly weather, or for an evening out. I tried this during a warm day and it was too stuffy, but I remember how much I love it in the fall/winter. It has some gorgeous spices that give it character, as well as clove and opoponax. If you like Opium, Shalimar, Cinnabar, etc.. you will love this.

Arriving home after a chilly lunch by the coast I was in the mood to dab on a nice spicy warming fragrance. Normally I would reach for my bottle of Cinnabar by Estee Lauder because it is one of my all time favorites and is in my top five.
Some time back I had made some notes on Cinnabar’s spicy cousins and eau Lente stood out as one to try again.
Right off the bat you get beautiful spices like Bond’s Chinatown and Cinnabar. Really smooth and easy-on-the-nose spices that sort of draw you in.
As the fragrance settles and warms on your skin it becomes a smoother and more soft spice that is quite like the spices I would get from an old bottle of Tabu. Really beautiful, very warming and delicious. A lot more subtle, maybe in part because I do not heavily apply fragrances, especially the bold spicy types like Cinnabar and Tabu. That is perhaps why my experience often differs widely from some of the reviews I read about them.
Eau Lente would be the perfume child of Tabu and Cinnabar whose aunt might be Shalimar or L’Origan.
Now if any of those aforementioned scents are ones you like then try eau Lente.
Anyone looking for a perfect warm spicy oriental fragrance would bode well to have this one in their perfume cabinet.
If I ever ran out of Cinnabar in it’s gorgeous spicy original formulation I would consider going to eau Lente as a possible substitute.

Just a beautiful spicy fragrance that is warm. If you love Shalimar by Guerlain, chances are you’ll love this too. It’s a great evening scent, or in colder weather. Top notes are cinnamon and clove; middle note is spices; base note is opoponax.

I write this on a very cold winter day. My turtle neck is high. From it I smell L’eau Lente’s warm spicy scent. Once sprayed it lasts the whole day. It is a strong, spicy, mature scent best worn in winter. I love it.

Out of the bottle this perfume smells a lot like baby powder, and a Chanel type perfume you would find on your grandmas nightstand. BUT once you spray it on your skin it evolves into something much better and unique. It is mysterious, sweet, a tad spicy and addicting. Expect to be smelling your wrists a lot. I would not describe Eau Lente as young, modern or fresh, it is a classic ancient type scent, something you may find at a middle eastern market but for an outrageous price since that is now it smells, expensive. Eau Lente is the perfume you wish all the cheap headache inducing babypowder-esque brands would smell like; complex, expensive, mysterious, addicting… That being said it is not for everyone and maybe not for every season, I think it’s more a cold weather perfume. Also for being an EDT it has very long lasting power compared to some of Diptyques other EDTs so I think its well worth the moderate/high price tag. Get a sample and try it on your skin first, since perfumes always react differently to everyones glands.

Eau Lente starts off vanillic or heliotropic, and quickly evolves into
a powdery spicy incense that reminds me of a simplified Shalimar.
In the end, the incense proved a bit too much for me.

I love this and it’s currently the only one of my literally hundreds of perfumes that I reach for. I was cautious after reading the reviews about the clove element as it isn’t a smell I enjoy but I find it to be very mild in it’s presence. I also like the smell of old spice, happy childhood memories, but don’t really get that from it. To me it’s just a warm, rich, spicy, sexy, adult fragrance which is still perfectly wearable during the day. A lovely, lovely scent.

Eau Lente from 1986 is such a beautiful scent.
It has a presence not many mainstream fragrances exhibits today, designed to suit most people whatever the difference. Eau Lente however, is not for everyone.
My first encounter with Eau Lente, a fragrance to be worn by both sexes, took place after relizing that I was quite fed up with sweet flowery fragrances and more a spicy, woody, oriental gal.
The SA gave me several blotters after telling her my story, and one of the scents I ended up with on my arm was this.
First of all, One spritz is enough. Only one. Usually I wear my fragrances on both wrists and arms, as i tend to absorb them. Sillage? Usually not much.
With Eau Lente there is sillage – GREAT sillage – I will have to find another place for the one spritz of this potent juice I can wear, but that’s another story.
This scent bursts and blooms heavy on cinnamon, citrus, clove and carnation simultaniously with bourbon vanilla in the base. After 3 minutes I’m scared as hell over all the different notes trying to take the spotlight – as teen girls trying to get the attention of a sexy celebrity like Justin Timberlake in the front of the stage – and I feel embarrased on behalf of all the notes fighting and want to hide somewhere until it’s over.
15 minutes after the initial spritz, it turns to bug spray and carnation. Period.
But I’ve learned to be patient, and after 30 minutes it’s starting to settle down.
A soft carnation on the base of oppoponax is there, and indian spices grounds the scent. While it develops, these notes linger but get softer and softer over the hours. Sometimes I get a faint image of an Oscar De la Renta oldie, but no Old Spice as some reviewers have mentioned.
Hours, yes. I’m so happy there is a fragrance that lasts and lasts – just with one spritz. I rarely find anything that I don’t absorb until it’s gone two hour later, lately. And it is an Eau de Toilette!
I believe it says something about the quality of the ingredients in it, especially considering the price.
It is supposed to be a unisex fragrance.
Though i find it a little hard to imagine Eau Lente on a man, this is a little too dark to be a typical feminine scent. It’s not for everyone.
I received a 2ml sample to take home with me, and I will test drive it several times before I consider it to be FBW instead of just setteling with a decant. As for now, Eau Lente is absolutely 5ml decant spending worthy for sure, and that is why it receives a great rating from me for now.
However, if this is the perfect fragrance for me I cannot decide just yet without wearing it a couple of times more, as I’m not quite sure I’m comfortable with all the carnation/opoponax I get.
Otherwise I love it, and I would really much appreciate smelling this on another person.
By all means – go ahead and try it!
With the 2 ml I received it will last me quite some time, considering the one-spritz-is-enough feature.
And I’m so glad Christmas season is near, as it’s the perfect time to wear it!

My skin eats up perfume so none really last more than 4-6 hours on me at the very best. This perfume, however, will last 24 hours on me and has nice sillage for maybe the first 12. I think that makes it pretty incredible just doing that alone.
The scent is pretty nice. A bit Christmas-y at first but the dry down is really nice and not as sharp. I do love scents of cinnamon and clove etc and I also really like Old Spice and have always wanted to be able to wear it as a woman and now I can…if I choose to buy this. I’m still not sure. If I do buy it, I will probably only be able to wear it in the cooler months and I’d also try to layer it with a more floral scent on top sometimes to tone down the spice/masc/holiday aspect.
All in all, I’m pretty interested in this scent, not only for the lasting power but also because the ingredient list is so natural and I feel safe wearing it on my skin and putting it on my delicate fabrics.

Not a fan, its like a dry spice mixture with some opoponax and it smells slightly masculine, thats not what bother me though, its just this weird slightly-off sensation I get at the start, and then it dries down to powdery opoponax. Prro lasting power too.
