I went in search of Shalimar Initial and found it was discontinued . With that in mind I began searching flankers and though I did not find many reviews on Eau De Shalimar , I found a great buy on it and bought it blindly . I find it to be soft and slightly sweet and quite beautiful . I think it could be worn safely in any crowd, and for most occasions. It is warm yet sophisticated and not juvenile at all. This fragrance lasts well for me and I love the fact that it has most of Shalimar’s essence or DNA, but is understated .
I find this fragrance to be very feminine, classy and inviting . It is not wimpy or weak , nor is it an in your face fragrance . It is a Guerlain that is worthy of the name , and I will buy a second bottle as a back up.
This Eau De Shalimar ( EDP) would make a safe buy for most females of any age . It smells very expensive and well done, and my bottle ( looks slightly different with the blue cap) is beautiful . I will wear this often !

I was really hoping that this would work for me.
Eau de Shalimar sometimes starts off as a nice lime scent ( not the toilet cleaner/ dish liquid kind) but sometimes it smells like this pungent hair gel my dad uses ( no offense dad!). It fades to a musky talcum powder scent on me, which is rather boring imo. I guess it depends on your body chemistry. If you are looking for a vanilla goumand then this isn’t for you.

I have an older version of this from around 2004 Shalimar Eau de Cologne. This a review for that. It’s a very soft, wearable version of Shalimar that is perfect for warmer months or when you want to wear something light (think daytime activities like at the office or what not). It’s very different from classic Shalimar, but it’s wonderful. The current version available is quite different than this.

A Shalimar but yet not exactly a Shalimar.
This is what Eau De Shalimar Fleur Edition is all about to me.
It has two different facets, on my skin, it dries down very close to the original Shalimar but
on fabric, after a couple of hours, it dries down to a vague resemblence of Thierry Mugler’s Angel, those so called dirty but nice nuance.
For an EDT, this one really last a long long time on my skin….
A lovely interpretation of the notoriously populat Shalimar indeed!!!

As a youth, I caught a whiff of this in a Sephora catalog. I recognized that this was a divine scent but I lacked the funds and the volition to procure it. Now I seek out this gorgeous perfume, hoping to snag a bottle of powdery lime perfection. Eau de Shalimar is amazing in that it blends the sophistication of the original with a kiss of citrus for a sparkling, feminine masterpiece. I adore the zestiness of lime but I find that a lot of scents based around that fruit tend to err on the side of lime candy. This perfume has just the right dose of it and keeps it soft and flirty with vanilla and resin. Classic Shalimar is a little too heavy on my skin so this is a godsend.

I like Eau de Shalimar because it’s the modern day grandchild of such a notorious classic and proud of that. Doesn’t care or pretend to be fashionanle but doesn’t feel out of place either.
At first I wasn’t a fan of the lime explosion in the opening but even so I couldn’t help but admiring how (photo)realistic it smells. Feels almost like an old school citrus cologne but you can already tell there is a powdery undertone. At this point it’s bright, zesty, almost moist and reminded my friend of opening her grandmother’s drawers. Aha.
The top notes endure unusually long but soften gradually and the drydown is all about soft resiny, powdery, cool, semi-sweet vanilla.
Now I have to buy a white lace sundress to match the scent.

To me this smells nearly identical to Shalimar Eau Legere, which, I also love. It just doesn’t seem to quite as bright and deep as Eau Legere, there’s something that Guerlain changed in Eau Legere when they discontinued it and revamped it as Eau de Shalimar. The notes I smell here are bergamot, lime, resins, iris, jasmine and the orange. I know Eau Legere had amber and lemon. I think Eau de Shalimar has more orange, iris and bergamot. Eau de Shalimar as it dries down tends to smell a bit dusty on me, as many iris notes do on my skin. Though, I do like this very much. It has great sillage and last a long time on the skin. I prefer Shalimar Eau Legere much more, but, this one I like as well.

This smells like something I’ve smelled before. It isn’t very unique. it smells like a perfume that rich, fat, aunties would wear, no offence.

I have this in a slightly different bottle (white and blue, without the flowers) but judging by ingredients, it should be the same thing albeit not a limited edition.
I read so many wonderful reviews, and wanted to buy it without trying-didn’t dare to and when i tried it on my wrist for the first time, didn’t like it BUT… about 5 minutes later i smelled something so delicious that i knew i had to buy it. This is not the end of the story though- when i bought it, i didn’t like it for the first few days, except for the vanilla drydown, which i considered to be too simple, anyway. This is not the end of the story either:-), because in a few days’ time it started to grow on me, and now i detect new notes which i absolutely love. Strangely enough, i can hardly smell it on me although my colleague says that she can smell it everytime she enters the room! Anyway, one of the weirdest perfume experience so far, but once i do smell it, i love the scent, it’s definitely very distinctive and worth the price! I would say that it is a scent that hugely depends on the season and the occasions: it can be overpowering for everyday use but for a night out, especially in winter time it can be magic. In fact, i received a compliment from a man who was just passing by and smelled it-never happened before with any other scent:)
