Guerlain is my favorite perfume house. I have collected at least a dozen of their milder scents. that being said, I strongly dislike Shalimar and any of their efforts that are even in that direction with musky strong smells. Being a perfume fanatic is a little hard when you hate the smell of musk.
This one and Locctaine Verbana are my two very top favorites for summertime. I do wish this were not a cologne and lasted a lot longer. I will continue to buy this even with weak longevity and projection. Those two factors are usually VERY important to me but not this time. It is too beautiful to pass up. I would rather put it on hourly than not have this at all. It is truly a masterpiece in my opinion.
That being said, does anyone know of any other perfume that smells anything like this that is actually an edp or a strong edt?

This is so very Guerlain and I am not really a Guerlain girl. Everything about them is so baroque and fin de siècle, which is charming and I don’t think they should change, but it isn’t my style. That said, I have a massive splash bottle of this cologne sitting prominently in my modern bathroom at all times. It looks fusty and out of place, like some relic from an old apothecary’s shop, but it’s become as indispensible as a box of tissues. I for one love that it doesn’t last, because I don’t want to wear it as a perfume, I want to splash it on after a shower on a hot summer’s day and feel refreshed. I want to splash it on when I’m tired. I want to rub some into my temples when I have a headache. I want to dab some on a spot on my chin, on a mosquito bite, and I even used it to disinfect my foot when I stepped on a rusty nail. Decadent? yes, but that’s what Guerlain is all about, isn’t it? And despite such lavish use, the 1/2 litre bottle is still going strong after about 3 years. Oh yes, and the smell. If you love citrus, you can’t go wrong. Bright, bitter, sweet and a touch green, precisely like its key notes – lemon, cedrat, verbena.

This is gorgeous – exactly what I want in a cologne except that it disappears within seconds. It doesn’t matter how much I use or whether I also spray my clothes and hair, it stays just long enough to tantalise me, and then it’s gone. Given the price, I can’t excuse the atrocious staying power so I actually think 3/5 is generous.

Like other reviewers have mentioned this has very little staying power (30 mins top on me), although it is a cologne. However of all the lemon/citrus fragrances that I have tried this is one of, if not the best. It was one of the few fragrances that I could wear when I was pregnant without feeling ill.

This is as beautiful as it is fleeting and two dimensional. It does smell like a tall and icy-cold glass of lemonade. This is refreshing. I bet it would be great for summer. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of fleeting cologne -not even during Summer. I think my money would be better spent on something longer lasting.

This is a great lemon fragrance. A strong initial burst followed by a slightly woody undertone, then it fades quickly. It isn’t very complicated, but it is miles above the rest of the “citrus” scents out there. And it lasts way longer on me than Goutal’s Hadrian. Perfect on a hot day when you want to cool off without annoying your coworkers. I pull it out when the forecast is over a hundred (which is pretty often where I live).

Not for me, very citrusy and two dimensional.

Favorite cologne of all time. Very crisp (almost bitter) smell of pure citrus. Highly recommend it if you’re after a non-sweet citrus smell (it’s a cologne for men or women). The classical large size bottle is pure luxury: typical of Geerlain trademark. Only drawback: does not last long. Still is my fave cologne when I splash after showering.

Love this!! The reviewer who said it smelled like tart lemonade was spot-on. This is crisp, icy tart lemonade in cologne form! I got mine just recently, but I can only imagine how refreshing it must be in the heat of summer – and look forward to trying it out. Love the beehive bottle too!

If it weren’t for its truly weak staying power (no trace of it after 30 minutes), I would give this a 5, as it is beautiful. Unfortunately, this eau de cologne must have only top notes, making it disappear way to quickly! How it makes you feel: happy, you just want to smile, it picks you up, it brings good memories of bright, sunny days. What it smells like: intense citrus punch, but very natural, not like some very candy-like or artifical citruses (like Kumquat from Comptoir Sud Pacifique), high quality lemon-lime oils. Perfect to wear when: it is summer (you just want to spray it again and again), when you want to feel happy/cheer up, when you want to invigorate yourself. If you are just looking for a citrusy eau de cologne with a certain class (not cheap cologne) and don’t mind its evaporation rate: this is perfect! Guerlain: can you please do this in a stronger version?
