Knot and Knot Absolue are two relatively recent fragrances that I will probably buy again and again. I have a love affair with both and although Knot Absolue was my first and immediate choice, Knot was the one I could not forget about, wanted to go back and buy for a long time and since I did, I have not regretted my decision once. It may not be the most revolutionary fragrance, perhaps the neroli and lavender combination is even ordinary for some of us, but for me, there is something so beautiful in it and I am not even a neroli or orange blossom fan in perfume. Knot has an opulence that is different from many department store finds nowadays because where that opulence is often combined with some mellow, polite cheerfulness and sweetness in others, Knot has a cooler, shady, darker, herbal edge to it – just a tad though and in a nicely blended way. I think it is the coolness of lavender but that note never smells like a generic note here. Knot has a nice balance between a darkish and cool herbal feel, a bright orange blossom and floral feel and a clear, slightly ‘perfumy’ base that gives it a quality character. None of these stand out and it is beautifully blended. I don’t get spice or musk. Although it is not the most complex fragrance, I don’t think it is particularly casual, either. More like skinny jeans, knee-length boots, scarf and that kind of chic. I also think it emphasizes intellect, confidence and that kind of sexiness more than what is dictated on us as ‘femininity’ and ‘attractiveness’ nowadays.

Being the fragrance junkie that I am, this is a nice/safe fragrance but nothing extraordinary. I can detect the neroli, orange blossom, lavender, and lime. Not a sexy scent if you are looking for one. The longevity is extremely poor. I will not purchase.

If you like neroli, orange blossom and musk, you will LOVE Knot. If you were to stroll through an orange grove on a sultry, tropical night with a slight breeze, this is what you would smell. It’s not sweet. It’s oranges and more oranges that are grounded in a waft of musk and tonka beans, making for a creamy, deep, sophisticated scent. This is not your daughter’s fruity, light parfum that’s gone in 30 minutes. Nor is it powdery or sweet like your grandma’s favorite concoction. It’s sophisticated, mature and just plain beautiful. I love to wear it year round, day or night. I haven’t loved a parfum like this in a decade. Very, very special. (I, too, first smelled it on paper in a Neiman Marcus catalog last year. It was love at first sniff. I couldn’t get on line to order fast enough. That just doesn’t happen to me. As in never before.)

I only have a small sample of this but I like it a lot. It really mellows across the day. It combines leather and floral notes, and I would say in equal measures. The result is a really grown up, wholesome scent, no hint of saccharin and not going too far the other way either.
I said I wouldn’t buy again because i haven’t even bought it once – it’s just a sample. I’ll see how I feel and edit later

I tried this first on one of those ubiquitous paper samples that come in magazines and loved it. Industriously rubbed on the wrist, the slick paper produced a sweet, candied amber scent with some sort of mild flower behind. Quite pretty, but I had to make the sample wet in order to get a total impression. I loved it enough to try it again at the mall. A moderate spritz gave me liquid Hawaii; white, lush tropical flowers like a lei, yellow with pollen, and a creamy underling of vanilla musk. This one is delicious. Will definitely be purchasing.

Top notes with a bunch of citrus shades originating from clementine, mandarin, lime, neroli and orange blossom. The fresh and optimistic opening notes add up to floral heart notes, among which are peony, white rose and lavender, posing a contrast to the earthy base of musk and tonka. This is a lighter, airier fragrance than the original Bottega Veneta Classic EDP. More floral too.
