The fragrance pictured here is not the one that is being reviewed. The fragrance pictured here is the men’s version. NOT the women’s version. The women’s version of Bora Bora is in a tall pink iridescent bottle with bamboo stalkes etched into the glass. Even though this perfume was released in 2002 it reminds me of one of those floral powerhouse fragrances of the 80s that was so common of the decade. I mean that in a good way. A very good way. Bora Bora is a floral powerhouse of the best kind. The star of this wonderful aquatic floral fragrance is tuberose. It has a very tropical type vibe like Tommy Bahama or Eskada fragrances but Bora Bora does the tropical vibe so much better and with much better lasting power and projection. Feel free to spritz very liberally and find yourself floating on a pink candy coated billowing clouds of florals. I got a full size bottle of this at T J Maxx for 10 bucks so it really was a no brainer buying this blind and I’m glad I did. It has a note of ginger too which adds to the sweetness of the perfume. The commercial for the fragrance is real cute too. On a tropical beach with a dainty sea maiden being chased by A hunky Tarzan type. A great blind buy.

Okay, I’ve seen this perfume around somehow, and I’ve always thought it was just one of those never-to-be-tried Kmart type scents from the 1980s. Well, I tried it recently, and I have to be ashamed of myself first of all for judging something so harshly I knew nothing about and second of all for my total misconception about what type of scent it was. By far, my favorite scents in my voluminous collection remain my beachy scents, including St. Tropez Dispenser, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, Bobbi Brown Beach, Creed Virgin Island Water, and CB I hate Perfume At the Beach 1966. Well, I have to say, this scent is integral to that whole beachy-themed collection. It is heady and intense, and it smells just like the beach, but in a different way than the other perfumes. I have to admit that I rather like it, even though I am not very good at describing scents or notes. Great vacation perfume. Or one to transport you into vacation land right at your desk, haha.

The official list of notes for this sounds lovely, but somehow it ends up being overpowered by artificial, nondescript fruity smells that go acrid on my skin. All in all, I am not a fruity floral person anyway, I just thought this might be nice for occasional summer wear, but my skin chemistry disagrees.

I must be the minority or maybe I have horrible taste in perfumes but I love this scent. It reminds me of summer and makes me happy. Ive always gotten so many compliments when Ive worn it. Maybe I just have the right chemistry for it. I guess im forfunate that im the only one who likes this, because I can get it dirt cheap on eBay. 🙂

I am currently wearing this and felt the need to write a review based on initial reaction. My mom got this as a gift and let me try it. I really liked the bottle and the name so I spritzed myself with it only once since I figured it would be a strong fragrance.
I am NOT into floral scents at all… very subtle floral scent is okay, but too much flowers in my nose and I get grossed out. This scent smells like the rest of them just out of the bottle. Chemical, perfumy, alcohol… the typical smell of perfume if you’re sniffing it right out of the bottle.
I sprayed it on myself just once and initially wasn’t too worried. Well, once I exited the house and got in the car I could smell even more of the floral notes which almost grossed me out and the worst part that I was on my way to work worried that I smell horrid. A little bit later, however, it began to smell really sweet and sophisticated – a lot like a perfume I am absolutely in love with but have yet to discover it’s name :(.
I’ve been wearing this for a few hours and have only now started to feel like I actually like it a little bit because it reminds me so much of one my favorite scent. Basically, I would never spray this on my clothes; I would spray it on skin instead because I can tell that it works well with my body chemistry and because of that I can finally sense those subtle sweet notes that I like.
It definitely gets better over time, but initially this scent is off putting and too “mature” for my taste.
I would not purchase simply because I don’t think I can tolerate wearing this for hours before it starts to finally smell good. And it’s so strong that one bottle would probably last me for the rest of my life.

This smell was a nightmare. I thought, this can’t be a real scent when I whiffed it in the store. It smells like nail polish remover and is extremely strong – nothing attractive about it!
I would rather go without showering for three days than wear this perfume for an hour. Really, it is the antithesis of womanhood, of femininity, and of pleasure!
Never thought a real perfume would be this bad!

I am a great fan of island scents – white florals especially. I read every review and purchased this with hope without smelling or sampling it from TJ Max. WOW, what a disappointment! I think my husband dislikes it even more than I do! I don’t know where LIZ went wrong here, so I assume it was from the start. The perfumer ought to go back to Bora Bora and spend some time, then back to the lab, and finally find new packaging. How a fragrance called Bora Bora can go so wrong, I just don’t know!

Not a big fan of this fragrance.

Great summer choice–especially for evenings out. I love the sand note in this fragrance, along with the tuberose. It reminds me of the seashore and is slightly similar to one of my very favorite fragrances, Michael Kors. However, sometimes this smells a bit too soapy and overpowering. For me, this fragrance is only a once-in-a while choice. I would call this perfume very ladylike and elegant, but it still has a bit of sexiness to it. I don’t think I would purchase again, because I only find myself reaching for this fragrance occasionally and usually only during the summer. I would recommend it though, especially if you are looking for a pretty, beachy floral.
