This review is for the vintage Eau de Parfum. If I were able to do, I would rate this 4.5 lippies.
Top Notes: Basil, Neroli, Ylang-Ylang, Bergamot, Orange Blossom, Narcissus.
Heart Notes: Honey, Carnation, Tuberose, Jasmine, Orris Root, Lily of the Valley, Bulgarian Rose.
Base Notes: Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Amber, Patchouli, Musk, Benzoin, Vanilla, Heliotrope, Cedar.
Bijan is a decadently rich, delicious, and quite expensive smelling Oriental that is very well blended with the perfect amount of spice.. I have to work hard to distinguish individual notes, but the ones I am able to distinguish smell very natural and lush. Bijan is not synthetic smelling at all. This is how I had hoped Bal a Versailles would smell.
Bijan immediately seduces both the senses and the imagination. The development is rewardingly slow compared to so many of today’s fragrances. It develops over time like the slow opening of a beautiful rose. Bijan has a classic pyramidal structure.
The ylang-ylang and orange blossom in the top notes are lush and sweet. Then as Bijan slowly develops, I detect gorgeous notes of sweet honey and fresh carnation with hints of buttery tuberose and orris root. The deep dry down is very warm, rich, powdery, and sensual. All of the base notes meld together so seamlessly that it is difficult to tease the notes apart from one another. They are simply there on one’s skin like a soft, rich, silky, beautiful veil. This is a perfume to truly relish smelling either on oneself or on someone else.
I am amazed by the way all of the notes combine to create the most incredibly soft smoothness. They meld effortlessly with one another to form a most intoxicatingly delicious smell. Sniffing Bijan is the olfactory equivalent of running one’s hand across the softest most opulent and warm fur one can imagine. This…this is an Oriental worthy of the name!
On top of everything else, Bijan is obscenely affordable–at least in the current EdT formulation. I would expect to pay significantly more for a fragrance of this fine quality.
If you like Orientals, this is one that is worth adding to your wardrobe. It is “dress up” worthy, date night worthy, and special occasion worthy. Sadly, they do not make fragrances like this anymore. Bijan is lush, smooth, rich, warm, sensual, feminine, and dare I say it…sexy. I generally do not relegate any perfume to either day or night wear, but Bijan I think would be best worn in the evening because it is so opulently rich and seductive. A woman wearing Bijan will rightly expect the men in her immediate vicinity to notice her and to gravitate toward her.
The following ratings are for the first five hours or so. Thereafter, Bijan very slowly begins to fade away leaving behind what I envision as the wake of Cleopatra’s barge sparkling in the moonlight.
Fragrance: 9/10
Projection: 9/10
Sillage: 9/10
Longevity: 8/10

HELLO 80s!!!
This smells familiar, like Giorgio or Halston or something from the late 70s/early 80s, but it also has a slightly powdery smell.
I almost really like it, but…no.

I love this fragrance particularly for Autumn/Winter. It is a huge woodsy
floriental with tuberose, orange blossom, carnation and honey among the many notes. it reminds me of the old Oscar and also as one reviewer previously said. Vanderbilt. The staying power is superb and sillage huge so don’t overspray or wear in very hot weather. The only thing I dislike is the bottle shaped like a giant baby pacifier. But, hey I can live with it. Very cheap at discounters so do not buy from Bijan itself as you will pay a lot more.

Bijan is my favorite scent, and I have been wearing it since it launched over 25+ years ago. I know this is an outdated fragrance, but it’s one of the few fragrances that mixes with my body chemistry and smells good on me. The good thing about wearing an unpopular fragrance is that it’s now dirt cheap ~ it’s $130 (totally overpriced) @ bijanfragrances.com and $21.00 (cheap) @ drugstore.com HA!
When my DH and I first met, he said, “Bijan smells wonderful on you”. He hadn’t been in my home yet, so I knew that he didn’t sneak in my bedroom to see what type of perfume I wore. He knew it was Bijan and I knew he was the one!
The recommended use of this fragrance is evening only. However, this is my signature fragrance, and I wear it all the time (except for hot summers). It’s a great oriental, spicy scent with orange and sandalwood. It mixes perfectly with my body chemistry and people ask me what what fragrance I am wearing all of the time. I love this fragrance and will buy this again…

It was reviews like these that helped me out two years ago to choose this one for my mom’s b-day preasent. I knew she would love it. She liked Opium in the past, and a few others that I did not care too much about… I got her Shalimar for Mother’s Day… Well, I was shopping for her new perfume b-day gift but since I had fragrance on already, I asked a lady who looked about my mom’s age to smell it and let me know what she thinks… She loved it, she sprayed it on herself and let me smell it. It actually smelled really nice on her… I got my mom a bottle and that lady got one for herself. It’s funny I never thought much of this one before, always thought it would be too strong and choky but it was surprisingly sexy and feminine! Way to go!

Bijan is a very nice floral-oriental vintage fragrance! Middle- and basenotes remind me of the classic Gloria Vanderbilt fragrance with the swan. The heart of the Bijan fragrance shares the same notes with Vanderbilt: Carnation, Honey, Jasmin, Orris, Rose, Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang! By the way, Vanderbilt is the most underrated fragrance on earth… but very popular (classic top seller in Europe). Please try to ignore different packaging and bottle-design and check it out, ladies. Maybe you will agree…??…

Okay, I have to admit it–this is my all time very favorite fragrance! I wear this all the time–if not Jolie Madame on some occasions. I always get compliments whenever I wear it, and it is a fragrance I love to smell ALL THE TIME. I am disappointed I can’t smell this on myself anymore. When I get a whiff from my clothes, I could just sit down and breath it in. I don’t know what I would do if they discontinued it. I have searched high and low for something else, and they all seem to have that “bite” to me (excluding Opium and MJ). Perhaps my chemistry just works with the fragrance. I agree with others–only wear in colder months.

I am surprised this doesn’t get higher ratings, becuz I think Bijan has a very nice, tolerable scent. I don’t know why I originally bought this, becuz it was many, many, years ago when I bought that first bottle of Bijan. Since then, I have bought 2 more, and I like it just as much. No, I don’t wear Bijan every day- for whatever reason- but not because it is disgusting or anything negative like that. I am the kind of gal who just likes to change off my perfumes from week to week becuz I get bored smellin’ the same ol’ way day in and day out.
The one positive thing I have to say for Bijan, tho, is that it is the ONLY- and I mean ONLY fragrance that didn’t make me want to hurl the entire time I was pregnant! Maybe there is something natural or soothing in Bijan… I dunno… but perfumes like Thierry Mugler’s “ANGEL” and some Estee Lauder fragrances made me so nauseous during my pregnancy, I can barely tolerate them to this day (over 6 years later)! I had to throw away alot of old faves, never to return, but I must say Bijan was not one of them.
5 lippies from me!

This brings back memories from a long time ago. I have a bottle around here somewhere that I dig out once in a while and still wear. I wouldn’t say it is my favorite perfume of the moment or anything but when it came out it was one of my favorite scents. When I feel nostalgic I bring the bottle out and dust it off for a night out on the town.

What??? Why the low reviews and buy again score? This has orange flower, sandalwood, and oak moss. This is a beautiful perfume. It is nice enough for evening or day wear(better for winter/fall though).
I got this from Kmart for $9.99 for the 1 oz. The retail for the 1 oz is $35.99!
Update: I’m bored with this perfume and it’s not all that. Subtract two lippies.
