I adore this smell. It really smells like bergamot with woody hints in it; if you like Chanel’s Sycomore, this product has those musky woody fragrances along with a burst of bergamot. I would say this is my signature smell, I am really picky when it comes to perfume and get tired of them pretty quickly. I’ve had this perfume for over a year now and still love it, and use it almost daily which is completely unheard of for me. I have also tried many of the other le labo fragrances, but bergamote 22 is still the best one of theirs on my list!

On me this is a citrusy, bergamot fragrance with deep earthy base notes. It starts off citrus sharp and fizzy then progresses to sweeter notes as the day continues. It reminds me of a more masculine version of Anna Sui’s Secret Wish. It’s a lighter fragrance which is perfect as I work around sick people so don’t want to wear an overpowering scent. I tend to lean toward fresh, sporty, tomboy fragrances for women and this is the most perfect fragrance for day wear that I have found so far. Yes it’s summery, but the deep earthy scent allows me to wear this into autumn/winter. I think you need a kind of offbeat personality to pull off le labo and bergamot 22 is no exception. For evening wear I go for something french, sweeter and more romantic like Il d’amour from Fragonard.

This is a citrusy and green fragrance, leafy and lemony. I bought a small bottle while I was on a trip to Los Angeles, and whenever I wear it I’m reminded of the sun and palm trees. It also reminds me of going to a cool, leafy park in the summer. The scent also makes me think of aromatherapy spas or expensive scented lotions.
It’s a very light and citrusy fragrance, and as is often the case for light, citrusy fragrances, the longevity is poor. After an hour or so, once the lemon burst wears off, there’s only a hint of the herbal “hand cream” scent left.
This is definitely a high-quality fragrance, but it’s not one of Le Labo’s standouts and I certainly don’t need more than a tiny bottle. For something that smells summery and outdoorsy, I can always wear L’eau de Chloe for a fraction of the price.

there’s something soothing about it.. gives off a relaxed vibe.. but it’s not what i’m looking for in a perfume..

very green citrus, its smells like the leaves of a citrus tree. It has pretty good staying power its still going three hours and an exercise class later but it starts to develop a harsh soapy drydown on me over time I smell like expensive hotel soap (a problem I always seem to have with bergamot type fragrances). It would be good apart from that but I don’t love it enough to justify the cost.

Love at first whiff! I never thought I would find anything I liked better than Yuzu Rouge by 06130, but this is it. The light fresh green citrus lifts my spirits. It may be a bit faint, but to me that makes it wearable.

Le Labo’s Bergamote 22 launches with the green smell of freshly cut branches and then evolves into a sunny, warm citrusy fragrance that is downright cozy. The middle notes are like burying your face in a bouquet of orange blossom flowers sprinkled lightly with amber pebbles. Bergamote 22 would be beautiful to wear on a summer evening but it also would be a definite “mood-lifter’ in the dark cold days of late January.
The only thing I find disappointing about Bergamote 22 is its weak staying power- it pretty much disappears after 20 minutes on my skin. For this kind of price, I expect my perfume to stick around a while but when it is present, it is gorgeous.

Based on the opening notes, I was prepared to like Bergamote 22; the fresh citrus and the warm and spicy nutmeg are a winning combination. But the drydown is a different story on me. I was stunned to find my brain racing back to another fragrance encounter: Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue. And for me, Light Blue is a *really bad* fragrance memory. Bergamote 22 gives me the exact same vibe: a weak citrus wholly failing to mask an oily, sharp, almost tarry petroleum unpleasantness. I can’t believe the similar effect I’m getting between these two. Looking at the notes they have in common (citrus, amber, musk), I’m beginning to believe that citrus and amber is an utterly lethal combination on my skin. I’ve owned several successful citrus-musk and citrus-wood combinations, but amber is a fickle fragrance on me, and the effect in this perfume is truly unpleasant on my skin.

Overpriced and unremarkable, indeed. Bergamote 22 quickly loses its zingy citrus notes and becomes a dry, non-descript, unisex green herbal fragrance. I expect complete seduction from a fragrance that costs $125 for 50 ml, and this one wouldn’t even get a peck on the cheek at the end of our date. Divine Bergamote by The Different Company is much more interesting.

This is very overpriced and rather unremarkable. Yes, it is pretty. However, it is not worth the money they charge for it. I expected to be WOWed–didn’t happen. On my skin, Le Labo bergamot opens with a rather nice green note which is very fresh and makes me think of late Spring and Summer. I don’t consider this to be an elegant fragrance. This is just another green and clean perfume suitable for daytime wear during the hotter days. NEXT!
