This is such a strange scent with such a strange bunch of notes. Right off the bat I should say I get NO cappuccino, NO coffee bean, nothing of the sort. This opens a soapy citrus floral—it’s all bergamot, angelica, and pink pepper. The opening is not harsh, per se, but it almost made me relegate this to the ‘had’ shelf pretty quickly. I don’t like soapy as a general rule, and this one smelled like childhood bubble bath–clean sweet soap. BUT!! The drydown is the saving grace. I could not stop sniffing myself when it started to dry down. No soap at that point. The drydown is sweet and woody—cashmere and vanilla and a hint of the violet leaf poking out to say hi. It becomes warm and soft and lovely. Well worth waiting through the soapy opening to get to. If you like interesting, inexpensive, non-linear scents from a well-known classy house, go for this one. It’s lovely!

I have been searching for a fragrance that smells similar to my Nivea cream in the glass blue jar. Someone said they thought Balmya smelled a bit like Nivea so I got a bottle. I can see those comparisons, actually. I like this and will probably wear it this summer because it’s not heavy at all.
It is classified on most sites that I have looked at as a woody oriental. I usually wouldn’t wear an oriental in the hot weather, so I’m not sure I consider this an oriental. If it is, it’s a light oriental if there is such a thing! Anyway, if you like slightly floral (rose) with some woody undertones and perhaps a touch of powder, you will probably like Balmya. Great little scent and reasonably priced.

What a little gem! Even though I was discouraged by the reviews here (Nivea cream??? Shampoo???) I purchased it unsniffed, blindly trusting the opinion of the best nose I know – and I am happy I did! Balmya is a soft, round combination of flowery and woody notes embraced by the comforting smell of capuccino. It has a good sillage which gently envelopes me but never screams, and great lasting power. It is quite a linear scent on me, does not change much between the second half an hour and the eights hour. I would definitely re-purchase. A wonderful modern Balmain.
Edit: downgrading it from 5 to 3. I am finding it too sharp now and just not mesmerising enough.

I bought a 3.4 ounce bottle of this at TJ Max for ten dollars so I can’t complain too much. It smells good, but there is nothing really special about it. It reminds me of shampoo for some reason. I will probably give the bottle away. EDIT: This has really grown on me. It’s subtle and it layers well over Nivea skin cream.

I bought this for all the interesting notes it contains. I can’t say I can detect half of them. I wish I could smell more of the violet and the cappucino. This reminds me of estee lauder’s pleasures, which is kind of boring to me.

I love this wonderful fragrance. Luckily I had a chance to run into it for an excellent price and of course had to try it… I would have paid much more for it once I sampled it! The notes are as follows:
Top Notes: Angelica Seed, Bergamot, Violet Leaf, Passion Fruit, Bergamot, Pink Berries… Middle Notes: Jasmine, Vanilla, Orchid… Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vanilla, Cashmere wood, Cappuccino…
the way this scent develops on me it reminds me of Nivea cream, … I LOVE IT!!!!! For years I’ve been pining for a fragrance that would smell like that… I love the way Nivea lotion smells and this is it 🙂 I would always repurchase this!

I am so in love with this scent! I love Balmain’s perfume artistry, but over the years I have owned all of the Balmains at one time, but found I could not “wear” them successfully, however beautiful I perceived them to be.
This one is just “me” and fits right in.
It’s a woody floriental, per the Balmain website, with top notes of bergamot, passionfruit, and pink bays, middle notes are angelica seed, coffee flower, iris, and violet leaves, base notes are orchid, white sandalwood, vanilla, and cashmere wood, per the Balmain website. I have also read that it has a cappucino note.
This is a spicy, softly warm and fruity floriental scent that has some “oomph” without being heavy. It turns into a wonderful skin scent on me, the woodiness is perfect with the cashmere wood and white sandalwood, and the angelica and coffee flower and cappucino make the pleasant spiciness that melds with my skin. The Pink Bays also contribute a bit of spicy tartness.
If you like woody/musky/slightly spicy fresh florals or florientals, along the lines of a Noa, L’Or de Torrente, Morgan de Toi, I’d say there’s a good chance you’ll like this. The bottle is beautiful.
This isn’t a “classic” Balmain, it’s a modern and beautiful Balmain, and I hope it’s here to stay. Lovely.

Soft, woody, and clean. Notes: Angelica seeds, Bergamot, Passion fruit, Violet, Coffee tree flowers, Pink berries, Vanilla orchid, Cashmere wood, White sandal wood, Iris, Cappuccino. I don’t smell even a hint of my idea of “cappuccino” on my skin, but there is a warm, woody undertone that could be this note. This fragrances is a light, woody Oriental that mellows and, oddly, becomes more flowery rather than woodsy as it dries down.
