Love this fragrance for fall/winter time. I found this little niche fragrance made for J.Crew on sale at a J Crew store. I swear and wow this is the perfect marriage between CdG’s Avignon, TF’s TV and maybe even a touch of Shalimar. It comes in spray bottle and travel roller ball sizes. The sillage is ok, more of a skin scent but lasts forever on me.

My husband gave me this in the rollerball form. I had dropped major hints about it because I’ve been falling in love with tobacco scents, particularly Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. It’s NOT Tobacco Vanille, but is perhaps its sophisticated nephew. Whisky, tobacco, oakmoss and a wee bit of vanilla. Good sillage and lasting power. Perhaps this will satisfy my tobacco scent craving and save major $$ by not caving in to TF.

Amazing limited-edition fragrance from niche brand Arquiste in collaboration with J. Crew. The idea behind this fragrance is what got me (I’m a museum professional). From the J. Crew website:
“These two scents were inspired by Exhibition by 31 Women, the first modern art show of all female artists in the United States, which was curated by Peggy Guggenheim in 1943. No. 31 evokes the bold perfumes worn by some of the artists—red vermouth, Bulgarian rose and patchouli—while No. 57 channels the aromatic cocktails and curved oak walls of the gallery.”
I purchased No. 57 as I have enough rose fragrances in my collection and didn’t need No. 31. 57 is a warm fragrance that starts rather medicinal in the early stages. You can really start to see the cedar and labdanum in the heart notes; I wish I could smell more of the whiskey note but I cannot detect it. The vanilla appears a little bit later in the dry-down.
If you are a fan of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille, Kate Walsh Boyfriend, or some of the sweeter Comme des Garcons Incense fragrances, you will love this one. The only downsides to me are the lasting power is not very good (at least in the rollerball form) and the rollerball construction is a little cheaply made. The cap screws on loosely and I am worried it will leak if I travel with it so I keep it upright in the box.
Overall though, a wonderful, strange fragrance that is refreshing to see in the mainstream market 🙂
