I’ve tried a lot of arabian perfume oils in the last few years, and mainly found them to be misses. I’ve probably tried around 10 Al Rehabs and disliked them all. Recently I made a purchase on Ebay and got this one as a freebie. It’s the only hit so far.
Jasmin is a fruity, slightly green, light jasmine without any indolic overtones. It also doesn’t have the camphorous opening that a lot of indian and arabic jasmine perfume oils have. For instance Al Rehab also have an oil called White Full which is mainly jasmine, but very heavy on the camphor, which lasts basically as long as the perfume does. I’ve never understood the camphorous or menthol note in Jasmine attars or fragrance oils. It doesn’t appear in Jasmine essential oils, and I’ve grown four types of jasmine over the years. In smelling the living flowers, I’ve never encountered it either.
Lasting power for this oil is pretty decent, sillage is low to moderate. I ticked yes to repurchase because it’s a good product, but as soliflores aren’t really my cup of tea, I probably won’t. I ended up decanting it and mixing it with Jovan Musk for women to make a spray perfume. Sillage and longevity was greatly improved. A simple, pretty fragrance for days when you don’t want to be overwhelmed or distracted by a complex fragrance.
