I’ve been wearing it all summer, and it grew even more on me.
Amazing quality for the price. It has composition that evolves with time. First, natural garden bloom – linden tree and lilac. Fresh green lily-of-the-valley comes a bit later. Dry-down is clean and soft (think nutmeg and powdery violet). As far as I’m concerned there are no dated aldehyde notes.
I’m quite sensitive, and this does not ring any synthetic bells to me at all. Smells expensive! Elegant and subdued, perfect for day wear, but can be worn any time. There’s nothing in it that could offend your coworkers or clients.
It lasts well, but the sillage is moderate, which is good, for me at least. The sprayer looks old school, but actually creates a fine mist.
Given that it’s always on sale somewhere, you can get it cheaper than flat celebrity perfumes. I first bought it for outdoor workouts and errands, when you don’t want to spray expensive perfume all over, but it turned out to be a true love!
I recommend this for its quality and price, just try it and decide whether you enjoy the scent itself. It could also make a cute gift. I will repurchase it as my daytime workhorse.

Wow…I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try this classic fragrance from the 90s. I guess in my mind I always overlook Elizabeth Arden and what they have to offer and I never though to try it. I am so glad I did.
I am a floral person and the majority of “floral” perfumes nowadays are not that floral in my opinion. 5th Avenue, in my opinion, is the PERFECT floral, with a touch of green note and some “heat. Imagine yourself in a lush flower garden, everything is blooming, summer heat, humid. You’re sitting down lazily flipping through a magazine while sipping green tea. THAT’S the only way I can describe this incredible fragrance. The longevity is quite decent (about 6-7 hours before I reapply) and the silage is moderate.
This is a big hit for me. Highly recommend. Will forever repurchase.

I decided to blind buy this one, as I heard lots of good reviews about it. Unfortunately, this is not the perfume for me. Smelled too sweet and the burst of floral notes are too overwhelming. I don’t understand how some people said this is a soft and light floral perfume. Packaging is simple and nothing special. Will not repurchase.

Very pleasant floral. I like lilac and linden blossom and this has plenty. Textbook sparkling aldehydes in the top. Does not pull tangy/sour like some citrus/florals can on me. I’m not a big
floral fan, but this is very nice.
It’s often called boring. Is it? Okay….maybe, I can see how it would leave many underwhelmed. I mean you’re mostly getting a feminine floral bouquet. It’s not like some of the fragrances with intricate compositions, or even edgy polarizing ones with unsavory plastic, blood, fish, body odor and what have you thrown in for the sake of uniqueness. If you can work that, lucky you. But I dislike the implications that a simpler scent takes a boring wearer (ahem, Turin). If you like smelling something different and exciting on yourself, or even having the fragrance do “originality” for you, that’s entirely fine. But some people, at least some of the time, just want to smell nice, are not insistent upon a fragrance making a statement for them, and if it does the talking for them, would prefer it to not say it all. I see no reason why a person of complexity couldn’t wear it. I do doubt it would be a good choice of a signature scent for many, but on someone whose chemistry brings out its full potential, maybe.
Unfortunately, on my very dry skin, it has no staying power and isn’t great for layering due to its quick disappearing act. For this reason, I also don’t detect much past the top and middle notes, I honestly never got most of the base notes. It just feels like it never “lives” and makes itself at home on me. I don’t reapply fragrances during the day, so I’m not likely to repurchase, I prefer longer lasting ones and enjoy a good base. If it were not for that, I’d go for this occasionally when I just wanted a feminine floral and nothing more, something that smells like mother’s lilac trees on an airy spring day.
It is definitely not offensive, I think it would be tolerated well pretty much anywhere. I’d not mind one bit smelling this on people near me! Just wish it worked better on my skin. I can’t do it justice.

It’s a lovely soft floral scent. Too bad I dropped and the bottle broke.

I picked up a large bottle of this at Marshall’s for $20.00 dollars, but I think it normally retails for $54.00 dollars. It’s worth it at any price. 5th Avenue is both sophisticated and feminine. It contains a bouquet of floral notes, including lilac and lily-of-the-valley, which I both love. It’s fresh and sweet and light enough to wear to church or to the office, but it works for nighttime too. The bottle is very chic and elegant. The juice has moderate sillage and longevity. I reach for this when I want to seem both understated and feminine. Simply beautiful.

Major love.. A fresh, modern scent which suit all ages.. Suitable for office wear coz the smell is not overpowering, but still very lovely if you sniff it on you..this was the first perfume i bought in my early twenties back in early 2000, and i’ve been purchasing many other perfumes since then..now at the age of 38, i keep on repurchasing this one for many2 times… Enough said!

This is a classic of American perfumerie in Europe, much more popular than Red Door or Green Tea. I haven‘ t smelled the original, I believe it was launched in 1996, but my bottle from 2015 is just fabulous! It is very floral, spring reminiscent, like an April walk in the meadous! To my nose, 5th Avenue is the glamorous, independent New Yorker granddaughter of a magnificent French lady called Diorissimo.

I’m on my fourth or so bottle of this. A pretty, classy, feminine, yet not overly floral scent, this has elicited so many exclamations over the years of “oh, you smell wonderful!”. I’ve worn this with a suit countless times, to have the perfect signature scent that goes along with feeling sleek and polished. It also works with more casual dressing, yet I have reached for it over and over within my professional life to project a fresh and classy aura–a faithful ally for which I am grateful. Definitely the best scent of the Elizabeth Ardens.

This is an absolutely lovely fragrance – clean without being soapy, feminine, fresh and elegant. I believe women of any age can wear this fragrance as long as they have a certain elegance or poise. I have neither elegance nor poise and when I wear this fragrance I feel a bit like a kid playing dress up raiding her mothers perfume, lipstick and oversized high heels. It’s a shame, because I absolutely love the way this fragrance smells, but it feels completely wrong on my skin.
A friend of mine wears it as her everyday fragrance. It suits her perfectly. She’s the sort of person who looks put together even when wearing jeans and a tshirt, and she can clear an overgrown garden without chipping her nail polish. This is what I mean by you need a certain poise to pull off this perfume.
Perfect for women who are both girly and sophisticated. Lovely in all but the coldest weather. Office appropriate with moderate sillage and lasting power of 4-6 hours. Keep a miniature or decant in your desk drawer at work to freshen up after lunch.
I wish I could pull this off – but I can’t.
