I want to give Poison Girl Unexpected a shout out as, despite what the name suggests, I think that this perfume is a lovely, more adult, gourmand fragrance suited for those of us in the 25+ crowd; it has a smooth base of a comforting nutty/vanilla warmth, that is intertwined with lingering sweet citrus notes that tone down the sweetness a bit. The heart of the fragrance is centered around a timeless powdered floral mix of rose, and what I think is orange blossom, and possibly magnolia. The star of the fragrance is the ginger note, that accompanies the citrus notes and adds some ‘fizz’ throughout the fragrance’s wear-time on skin.
I have Poison Girl Unexpected in the edt version, but it has an excellent longevity [9+ hours] that almost matches that of my Poison Girl edp, so it is a fantastic money-saver to go straight for the edt versions for this brand since the ingredient quality is top notch.
Official scent notes: ginger, lemon, blood orange, Damask rose. tonka bean, hazelnut and vanilla.
Poison Girl Unexpected unsurprisingly smells similar to Poison Girl; but the new ginger note gives the fragrance energy which is lacking in the original edition, plus Unexpected is lighter on the rose and more bite on the citrus. I enjoy Poison Girl, but I’m loving Unexpected and will be rebuying this over the original one, as it just has more personality and zing and is suitable to wear all year round, whereas I found the rose notes in the original Poison Girl too intense for warmer weather. In addition to Poison Girl, I think Unexpected is also is a bit reminiscent to the Black Opium edt edition, but it doesn’t remind me of Princess in the slightest (I own it, so can compare them).

This is a sweet smelling fragrance with gourmand notes. I would recommend except this smells basically the same as Vera Wang Princess. And that one is a lot cheaper and the packaging is cuter in my opinion. Unless you’re a diehard Dior fan/collector I wouldn’t waste my money on this.

Heart: Damask Rose
Base: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Cashmeran, Hazelnut
It was a love from the first sniff. These are just delightful! Sweet but not “soapy” (hello YSL Black Opium & Lancôme La Vie est Belle), and very juicy- like red currant jelly beans (I swear it’s the first thing that comes to my mind when I want to describe this scent).
EDT, so they’re not the longest lasting perfumes on the market, but the lasting power is good, like with most Dior fragrances- even “eau de toilette” versions. It’s one of those rare fragrances that want to bathe in.
It’s my favorite fragrance from Dior since Miss Dior got a revamp and transformed into typical “old lady” scent (Dior if you’re reading this- bring back the old version!).
