This stuff is absolutely amazing! It’s coverage is fantastic and lasts all day and into the night when I remove it to go to bed. The foundation has only 4 ingredients and its great for people with sensitive skin like me. I didn’t think it was going to cover, but once I buffed it in, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. And so soft. Applying the translucent powder on top helps set the minerals and my face was velvet smooth. It didn’t set in my wrinkles or accentuate them in any way either. I applied in the morning after I left my moisturizer do it’s job for about 10 minutes. When I got off work at 5 and looked in the mirror, I didn’t even need to touch anything up before going out to supper with friends.

I ordered a free sample of the foundation and added $10 to upgrade it to full size. This cost less than $17 including shipping and the item arrived within a week (international shipping to the uk). This rounded up to less than £14 at the end and I received 4 foundations – 2 sample size and 2 full size. I got light golden and fair in full size and fairly light and light in sample size. Although it says 38g the package is smaller than BareMineral’s 8g. 38g is how much the jar can contain, not the actual content.
The powder itself looks almost identical to BareMinerals’s (BM) Original and it applied like BM’s, I did not have any problems with the application. Buffing is much needed to make it look natural. I tried using Nude by Nature powder brush, The BodyShop Bronzer Brush and MultiTech XXXL kabuki brush. There is not much difference with methods of application. A dense and firm brush would do just fine, The Bodyshop bronzer brush was a bit too soft but still provided a lovely finish. One layer evens out my skin tone but did not quite cover all of my redness on cheeks. A second layer was much better, I would compare that to ever so slightly less than the coverage of Giorgio Armani’s Lasting Silk compact. It made my pores less noticeable and looked natural.
The finish is not matte, there is a glow to it that doesn’t look artificial – not the kind of dewy you get from liquid foundation. It lasted 4 hours until i see some oil on my t-zones and in 6 hours my whole face is glowing with oil. It did not look greasy, just very dewy. In comparison, Giorgio Armani powder foundation could hold it for 6 hours with a slight glow. BareMinerals did not control much oil either and also lasted 4 hours on me so there’s also that, maybe it is something mineral foundations can’t do. However something to note is that some of the foundation disappeared on my forehead, hardly noticeable but as some got stuck in between my brows and nothing works to remove it, I had to remove my whole face of makeup to reapply. I’ll try different methods and see if it was my brow gel causing it. I then tried finish off my second time with Essence setting spray, it helped a bit but still does not hold to 6 hours.
Overall it was not expensive because you can order a free sample first. If you have allergy to something you don’t know from liquid foundations, this would be a good choice. The color selection is also impressive but personally I think there is not enough dark colors. I would not repurchase until I find a solution to the oil control problem. Will update when I figure out what to do

Okay, let me just say to start off that I am not a makeup-wearer. I haven’t worn makeup on a regular basis for about a year now and it feels good! However, there are times when I’d like any acne I have (along with my millions of acne scars…) to be covered or at least look diminished enough that I can go to an event (or whatever I feel warrants makeup hah) without feeling like people are looking at my skin and all the spots that inhabit it.
Before this I tried Bare Minerals (worst experience ever, broke me out severely, you can go read my review) and the only good thing that I can say about that is that the coverage of Bare Minerals is better than the coverage Mineral Hygienics provides and provides that coverage with much less application time. When I put on this foundation/finishing powder (I haven’t purchased any of their concealers, just been using a concealer brush in the foundation which works alright, maybe I should get a concealer of theirs before I complain about not having the coverage I want) I do see a reduction in how noticeable my acne/scarring is but you can still easily see that all of it is there, especially active/recently active acne which is still flakey and dry (not a pretty picture to just have flakeys everywhere).
So…in terms of coverage I’m only giving this 3 stars, once my skin is clear I think I’ll be completely in love with this makeup to even out my tone and cover residual scarring but as a full coverage makeup (for covering textured blemishes) this isn’t what you want. If I buy a concealer I’ll update this review and let you know how I feel about the coverage with the concealer.
Aside from my issues with the coverage, I much prefer this to Bare Minerals because of the only 2 things that really matter to me when I’m buying a beauty product 1) how natural is the product and 2) does it break me out?
1) Mineral Hygienics foundation only has 3 ingredients! Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, and Mica (they do warn that it may contain Iron Oxides and Ultra Marines). All their facial products (not including makeup like shadows, mascara, brow stuff, etc) only have 3-5 ingredients so that’s in my good book!
2) I didn’t break out. At least, not noticeably because of the product. I was still breaking out while using this but no more than any other time so I don’t think this product caused any of the breakouts I’ve gotten while using it.
I will also say that the oil control of this makeup is nice (I did select the matte finishing powder, though so I’m not sure if you’d get the same results from their standard finishing powder). I never once felt oily, though you do feel a little dry/tight when you first put everything on but that feeling goes away after an hour at most.
Overall this makeup is quality and maybe I’ll bump it up to 5 stars if I get a concealer that gives me the coverage I want from this wonderful brand’s product.
—–Update—–
So, I’ve started using Mario Badescu’s Special Healing Powder underneath this makeup and that makes it a totally full coverage foundation, plus I think my technique has also gotten better – buff too much (but lightly), you need to buff it in more than you would think you need to. I will say that it looks a little cakey but, again, I think that’s because of the acne it’s covering. I don’t think it’d look bad if my skin were smoother at the moment but, what can I do (it’s that time of the month). Still so in love with this foundation! It never makes me break out more (unless, perhaps, I’m using a really rank brush to apply).

This is it. Mineral makeup that actually works. Trust me!
I have struggled with adult acne and hypersensitive skin for about seven years (since after I turned eighteen – oh the irony), and I have in desperation tried more or less every mineral makeup line out there.
Everything from air pollution, certain foods, shampoos and skin products, the weather and even other people can cause my skin to react (try not being able to hug people because your skin is too sensitive – it sucks). The list is long.
I have spent a fortune over the years trying to not only cover my outbreaks, but also keep new outbreaks from occurring.
After finding a skin routine that worked for me – which is the OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) with hempseedoil and lukewarm water, I found that the only thing left causing my acne was my makeup. Even if I washed my brushes every day and took exellent care of my skin, each time I put on makeup, my face began burning and breaking out again.
I spent almost three years without wearing makeup at all after a topical creme I received from a dermatologist made my skin worse than ever (seriously, it felt like I had coated my face in napalm – I have never experienced burning like that – and my skin was red, flaky and swollen for several weeks after), and the change to my skin was dramatic to say the least.
Although it was working, not using any makeup, I still wanted the option to do so on occation.
After almost six months of searching, I realised that most foundations and powders contains certain ingredients which turned out to be the cause of my more violent acne in the first place.
I learned that Mineral Hygienics was one of the few brands which did not use ingredients my skin reacted to, so I finally decided to try it.
I ordered a Starter Kit in Light, and the colouring was perfect for my skintone.
It melts easily into your skin and makes it feel like you are not wearing any makeup at all – in fact, it makes my face feel like I have just done a scrub. My skin gets so soft and smooth.
The combination of Fairly Light and Light suits my skintone brilliantly, and I can add more or less of one or the other in order to adjust it to my winter and summer colours (not that there really is much of a difference – but now I can make it seem like there is).
The foundation did not cover as well as I would like it to, so I also bought the Multi-tasker Light Concealer. With the right brush, it provides all the coverage I need and then some.
Now my favourite part is the Sheer Perfection Silk Translucent Powder, which gives a beautiful finishing glow. This really makes the whole makeup, and I can never again live without it. You can also use this as a primer – it gives a great result, although I believe the matte finishing powder might be better for this.
Where my skin would become red and annoyed by all other foundations or powders, some of them causing large, painful cysts, rashes and huge outbreaks, Mineral Hygienics has the opposite effect. It calms my skin and protects it from other external irritants, and the colour does not transfer or bleed.
Sweat, water, direct contact – you name it – it still looks perfect throughout the day, and the next day, if you should fall asleep without removing it.
I use hempseedoil in the summer and shea butter in the winter as both mosturizer and primer, and do an epsom salt scrub once a week in order to get the best results.
For application, I use a flat top buffer, a stippler and the Mineral Hygienics Kabuki XL.
I use the Mineral Hygienics Flawless Face Brush to apply both the Cool Kiss Enhancer and the Silk Translucent.
And remember, with this mineral powder, less is more.
I first started using Mineral Hygienics about a year and a half ago, and I am never turning back. After more than seven years through hell, I have not had a single outbreak (apart from the odd tiny zit once every few months or so, but they are so small that I can barely spot them myself).
I can finally put on makeup without being more frustrated with the result than my natural skin.
Finally I do not have to choose between wearing makeup and having healthy, happy skin, and I am never going back!
This review got a bit (a lot) longer than planned, but honestly, if you struggle with allergies, eczema, acne or any other similar condition, I really recommend that you try these products.
For me, it was truly revolutionary.

I LOVE MINERAL HYGIENICS FOUNDATION! I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and have had a VERY difficult time trying to find a foundation that doesn’t make me break out or make my face itch. I’ve tried everything from Pur Minerals, Lancome, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Bare Minerals, Neutrogena, MAC, Chanel and even make-up created for acne. This is the only foundation I’ve ever tried that actually feels good on my skin. It’s light-weight, doesn’t feel heavy. Coverage is decent and build-able, I do have a few scars the require a little extra coverage. It is long-lasting and waterproof! Does not break me out and most likely because it has minimal ingredients. After researching about the ingredients that are within most foundations, its no wonder why my face was freaking out every time I applied those foundations to my face. My only disappointment is that it does not control oil as much as I would like, but I will continue to re-purchase this foundation because of its lack of irritating ingredients and because my skin seems to love it. Yaaayy!

LOVE!!
After years of trying every drugstore brand of liquid, cream, and powder foundations, plus Bare Minerals, Cory, Canary, Rejuva Minerals, Sheer Cover, Iredale, Everyday Minerals, Glo, MUAC, etc., I finally found my HG!
Not cakey, not overloaded with mica, doesn’t wear off in an hour, doesn’t turn orange, doesn’t contain bismuth or other harmful ingredients, doesn’t itch, doesn’t ball up over lotion or treatments, and on and on. I’m pretty pale lately with this horrible never-ending Winter on the east coast this year, so Fairly Light has covered my acne scars and rosacea very well. But now that I plan on getting a little sun, I just purchased Light Golden to try.
UPDATE:
So I still LOVE me some MH powder, but my painfully dry winter skin is rebelling. I am breaking out like crazy into a rash every time I use this beloved powder, so I’ve finally taken the hint and purchased a YoungBlood Liquid(BOO)mineral foundation.

I originally bought a trial kit of fair and fairest. I have extremely pale skin so fairest matches best but I found myself ordering a large fair especially for in the summer (even tho i don’t go in the sun) just so i could have a tiny bit of color and was able to quit adding bronzer. But this is my most favorite mineral makeup and I’ve tried MANY. Meow cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Alima, and others I can’t even think of right now. But yea, this one has the best coverage for me and I get breakouts! I add concealer sometimes but I hardly need it. In the summer I did add some translucent powder over it sometimes mid day and use oil blotting sheets but mostly can’t complain. Wish the price was better but I got it on sale the second time cuz of a promotional email.

I’ve been using this for about two years now, since ordering the mini (!) starter kit in fairly light/light. That’s without repurchasing! I use light when I’m tan and fairly light the rest of the time. That’s about a 90% match for me, I’d say. I used to wear Bare Minerals but didn’t agree with the bismuth. All in all, I’m happy with this product. I can barely feel it on my skin, it’s very comfortable. All foundations make me break out, but this is on a very small level so I can easily live with that. Best I’ve ever tried in that respect! However, the coverage is not what I want it to be. There’s no chance of disguising acne/red acne scars using this alone, and on me it also looks “made up” and not natural. If I go about with a naked face my acne will be more visible, but the skin itself looks much better – you know, fresh and glowy. I use the Bare Minerals Full Coverage Kabuki, tap a small amount onto the brush and swirl it around the lid for about 5-7 seconds (how I was taught) before buffing it into the skin. Maybe this is the wrong way of doing it, I’ll try another way and see. It then melts into the skin after a while, and come evening I still have a fairly even skintone but all the imperfections show through completely. So all in all, not for my skin the way it is!
I’ll edit this review if I find it works better another way. Might try the setting powder as well, I normally use Mac Select Sheer Pressed which tends to look cakey in the t-zone with this foundation. Otherwise, this makeup FEELS very good on the skin and does not cause much acne, redness or irritation.
(I’m about to try a cream or liquid foundation for two reasons though: first, to see if the gentler application (no buffing) will work better and second, because I’d rather use a mineral product made in Europe due to stricter regulations of heavy metals in pigments.)

I’ve used this make up on and off for about three months. It’s okay. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either. I guess if your skin is already pretty flawless and you just want to cover up some slight discoloration then this make up would be great.

First of all, I’d like to say:
I BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT WITH MY OWN MONEY!
The company did not send me anything for free & I’m not getting paid to advertise their stuff.
This is my HONEST review about this product, so here it goes.
So I’ve been wanting to switch over to mineral foundation for a long time now, but for some reason mineral foundations never look good on my skin. I have combination skin (oily on the T-Zone & dry on the cheeks) I only get breakouts on my cheeks I don’t know why.. But anyways, mineral makeup always seems to blotch up with the oils on my skin & it just starts to look really nasty after a while. So one day I googled “best mineral foundation for combination skin” & this brand called Mineral Higenics popped up & I was like oh let’s check this makeup out. So I did my research & I noticed that all the blogs & YouTube gurus that would talk about this foundation all started off with “the company was sweet enough to send me some free samples” or “they contacted me & asked me to try their products out” & they all would say really good things about this foundation but I was really skeptical about it since there was no real honest opinions that I knew of. But one day I decided to just give it a try. It costed me $30, I know expensive/crazy. & I was unsure about which color to get. Thankfully the color I chose (medium tan) was a perfect match. The day I got it in the mail, i tried it on right away. It goes on really smoothly and nice, no harsh buffing is required. It really blends in right away. The coverage looks really natural, bit I find that the best way to apply this foundation is with a damp beauty blender sponge. It really does stay on all day. I’m honestly really impressed with this foundation. I’ve been wearing this foundation for 2 weeks now & I have noticed my skin improving. I really recommend this foundation, yes the price is high, but it does do what it claims to do. I think this might be my HG! 😀 <3
