I couldn’t pull this off. It flaked on my dry skin, even after priming it with oil. Had to return it. My favorite clean foundation at the moment is Gucci Westman’s. Try that one if this does not work for you.

I want to love this foundation sooooo badly. I have ordered several samples and chose the colour weightless for my fair neutral skin. I have tried lots of methods to apply this foundation but it seems to sit in my nose pores, regardless of application, primer no primer, face oil no face oil etc… However, I am in LOVE with the finish. My skin looks radiant. I can’t justify even though a part of me so desperately wants to buy a full-size. For me, given the cost, a foundation shouldn’t be this difficult to apply and sit in my nose pores..even though I love the radiant finish.

Unusual cream foundation which can be tricky to apply to the face. It needs warming up so applying with fingers is helpful. It has a slightly dewy, very natural finish. I am fair with neutral undertone and a NC15 in MAC. I matched best with Lightness – the lightest shade. NW15 is close to Like Porcelain. If you’re NC10 both will be too dark.
I’m really enjoying this cream foundation for a natural look. The packaging is divine (classy, functional and environmentally conscious). Can’t really say anything negative about it except the shade range is horrible.

Please excuse me while I rave like a maniac about Kjaer Weis in general and the foundation in particular. When I first heard about Kjaer Weis and looked up the prices, I just laughed and forgot about it for a year or so. Then slowly but surely I became intrigued about the line while trying to move into all-green products and tried out a couple of items, which lead to a couple more, then a couple more etc. I am now head over heels in love with the products, despite the hefty price tags.
Here is a general PSA for anyone thinking about trying KJ products out: Get a Z palette! Don’t invest in the (gorgeous, beautiful, but non-recyclable!) packaging unless you’re really really sure you love it. Otherwise you’re left with this (gorgeous, beautiful but otherwise totally useless) chunk of packaging which is not very eco-friendly at all if you’re not using it for refills. So get a Z palette first, order the refills to try out and then if it works for you, take the plunge with the packaging (or not! it is quite the luxurious, sumptuous experience -the sexy red boxes, shiny silver cases; all perfectly designed – but of course you don’t *need* them to enjoy the incredible products themselves). It’s just a lot of money for a gamble. But anyways! On to the foundation: I ordered Lightness for my incredibly pale self. I agree with the other reviewers that this is just a very different kind of product, so it might take a little while to figure out how it works best for your skin. Generally I think if your skin is super dry, this might not work. When I first tried it I had dry patches on my cheeks from tret, and it really clung to the patches and highlighted them which was a little alarming. After being more intentional with my P50 for exfoliation and piling on the moisturizer, it now works like a DREAM. You kind of have to mess with the application a bit – I find that for light coverage, a densely packed foundation brush works great. For more coverage I use my fingers and sort of pat it on and press it out. I also use it for concealor because of it’s layer-ability, just add a little extra under my eyes (which is another way I justify the price – I don’t need to buy an extra concealing product). The effect is this smooth alabaster coverage that I just LOVE. The staying power is decent – it is an all natural product so you’re not going to have the teflon effect of conventional foundations -I would say 6-8 hours or so. The setting powder does increase the coverage time and gives a nice matte effect rather than the dewiness of the foundation alone. The coconut oil has not been a problem for me, hasn’t broken me out or irritated my skin. Overall I have to say I’m really happy with this product, using it is an experience (the company is so intentional about the design of the packaging) if you’re into that, it creates a beautiful effect on your skin, and is about 95% organic. Win, win, win, and yes I will repurchase. I held back one lippie only because I recommend dipping your toe into this product first rather than diving in with wild abandon. However, if you’re only of the people that this works for, I think you will be very, very pleased!

This is a bit of a saga.
When I first got this foundation I got some tiny shade samples and found a match without getting to properly try the application. I then promptly bought it because it has rave reviews and I’ve had a hard time finding good shade matches in general. My shade is Lightness which is nearly identical to my skintone. I use RMS uncoverup in 00 (it’s a tad yellow) and Alima Pure Satin matte in Neutral 1 for example.
HOWEVER I found it really hard to apply so that it didn’t give me crap texture and left a bad review because I just could. Not. Make. It. Work! I have clear, dry skin, a lot of redness on the cheeks to cover up and no visible pores but it settled in my nigh invisible pores and just looked really caky. I tried various application methods (brush, sponge, fingers) and ways of priming with oil etc, until one day…
I was really happy to finally figure out how to apply this expensive foundation I was stuck with. As it turns out the best way for me is light touch (derp) – light, short strokes with a finger rather than patting it on. That fills up the “pores” and then I can go in and pat or stroke on more for better coverage. Maybe it’s just my skin being nicer after taking a break from daily makeup during the summer, who knows – but this works well for me. Now that I’m able to properly use it I can finally review how it wears etc.
The consistency is on the drier side, if it was a little drier it might almost feel like pressed powder. It’s a matte finish foundation and looks quite dry. It creases on me where all my other foundations crease, nothing shocking.
I wear it over a natural, oil based sunscreen cream and for me it’s best to not let the cream absorb at all before I do foundation – since both my skin and the foundation are quite dry I need the extra oils so the foundation glides on better.
A big plus for KW is that it doesn’t transfer a lot. I set it with powder (use RMS unpowder since that’s what I have) even though I might not need to since I really just prefer setting my foundation.
The coverage is very decent and buildable, it’s a solid medium+. It doesn’t cover up my redness completely but not even a good concealer does so I didn’t expect that. It’s comparable to RMS uncoverup but since it is a drier consistency it will look more like makeup on my dry skin than the RMS when built up to a heavier coverage.
It wears well throughout the day and fades gracefully.
It’s unscented but has a faint smell to it that I like.
It has a few cons: I seem to go through it quite quickly since I got for heavier coverage. It accentuates my dryness when I build it up to a heavier coverage. It accentuates my peach fuzz more than some foundations. I would also prefer to be without the talc.
As to whether I will rebuy I’m not sure. I have this expensive (and expensive looking) compact now so I think the price per gram is lower than RMS uncoverup which is my other goto base product. Rebuying is a possibility.

OK, wow. I love this. I love this! This is the perfect complexion product for me – very pigmented, weightless, wears like iron, looks like skin. Can’t get over how imperceptible this is, neither matte nor dewy, perfecting but not inhumanly flawless. It reads like skin, only better, especially when used like a flexible concealer, just here and there where needed. Lightness is a good match for my neutral NC/W15 and helps cancel redness, though the slightly pinker Like Porcelain would probably be my exact match if only it were a little lighter.
I don’t usually wear it over an oil (I worry it might break down my sunscreen?) but I do make sure to moisturize very well and use a more creamy sunscreen rather than a dry one – it transforms sunscreen shininess into a healthy glow! Sometimes I very lightly dust my nose with translucent powder but not really necessary because I find the weightless cream-to-powder texture “sets” on its own, on my normal skin. And stays put. The first time I tried this, I impatiently ripped into the box right in my car and dabbed a bit on my face – it more than passed the car mirror test, covering but looking so skin-like that I kept dabbing more on in disbelief. And hours later, after an insane day of meetings, I got home and looked in the mirror and was shocked – still there, still the same, except for a little wear around my nose. I mean, my hair was crazy and my lipstick was uneven but my skin? It looked great. Like it had gone on some restful zen retreat without me, lol.
So, yes, holy grail. The blushes too. I love this brand. To be honest, natural/organic cred isn’t always of overriding importance to me personally when it comes to makeup, but I certainly won’t say no to quality ingredients in an artful solid design (note the mirror is on the underside of the swivel lid) and solid performance and a down-to-earth, functional, no fluff rational aesthetic. It’s definitely the Bauhaus of cosmetics – with a very contemporary eco slant.

This is a great green foundation in sustainable packaging. It does need to be applied a certain way though, which can be a bit faffy. I find it works best when applied over a face oil, spread with fingers and buffed in with a damp beauty blender. Coverage is medium, sometimes I wish it was a little more pigmented though (compared with the RMS Beauty Uncover up, which is incredibly pigmented). It is much more matte than Uncover up and with both I feel my face looks better at the end of the day as the ingredients seem to calm down breakouts and redness.
I have a colour that when I bought it matched me and is now a tad dark, but blended in properly it still works okay. The price is steep with the compact, and I didn’t want to commit to it initially, so I bought a refill (which is much more reasonable) and housed it in a MAC compact using sticky dots to glue it down (as the MAC palette is not magnetised).
I do feel for the quality of the ingredients it’s okay to pay a steeper price. Uncover up, which is even more expensive, has been lasting me an absolute age, I’ve had it for years and there’s still so much left, however, KW’s foundation seems to be used up much quicker, thus working out more expensive in the end. As it is less pigmented, I find myself reaching for Uncover up to conceal dark circles and spots. Ideally, this would do the job of both, foundation and concealer.
While I enjoy using it, I think once it’s finished I will want to try other green beauty foundations such as Gressa or Hiro,

definitely one of my favourite foundations! (this review is about the stroke of genius liquid cashmere)
i am always sure to pick up one of these foundations when visiting family and friends in australia! this foundation has a subtle glow and tastefully brings out the wearers undertones, rather than masking them. this foundation blends extremely well and is thick, silky and velvety in texture, without feeling heavy or clogging pores. i am a ballet dancer, and find that my face looks spectacularly radiant on film and in pictures when wearing this foundation
this foundation does (on oily skin at least) tend to transfer on to my finders and objects when touching my face, as well as separating and looking odd around my nose and around any acne i may have. to combat this i am always sure to use a primer and setting powder.
despite its faults, it is a gorgeous, radiant, creamy, beautifully coloured foundation that i would recommend to anybody- particularly those with drier skin as it is very moisturising.

This foundation is beautiful and is definitely worth $69. Mine also came with a brush which was great! 10/10!

Napoleon Perdis Mineral Liquid Foundation in Look 2. With a good primer & concealer this foundation lasts all day and looks flawless. I love it and have bought two bottles but it is really expensive and you only get a small tube.

Really love the foundation perdis stick. It’s the best must have. I’ve been using it for years. You only need a bit. It normally takes about 2-3 years to finish it. No matter what other ones I use, always finding Napoleon foundation useful. Loving the lightest shade for a concealer affect.

This review is for Napoleon’s China Doll foundation. First, this stuff is pricey – $50 for 30 ml/1 oz. I am NC30 in MAC and found that shade 1 is a perfect match. It is a bit “dry” so I found it a bit tough to blend, but once blended it’s very natural looking. Another reason why I am really happy about this foundation is because it doesn’t oxidize on me like many other TMs/foundations have. I am seriously considering purchasing the full size when my sample runs out.
pridefulTacos5
This was my HG foundation when I was on Roaccutane and had really dry skin. It is ideal for dry or more elderly skin which is lacking moisture. The coverage is excellent, and it looks just amazing in photos. It also never broke me out despite my acne-prone skin. I always received compliments on how I was ‘glowing’ and had ‘beautiful skin’, despite the fact I have anything but! I do not recommend this for those who don’t have dry skin as it can get oily on the T-zone and rub off. This was my absolute favourite foundation for so long and I compare it to everything foundation I use, I will definetly return if my skin gets dry again. My only complaint is the colour range, it is far too orange for any PPP skin, I had to use bronzer on my neck to make it look natural, I wish they would introduce a bigger colour range!
amazedMare4
Well, although it seems the de riguer opinion on MUA is that Napoleon stuff is Less Than, this product is not… This is a nice foundation. I find it layerable (I use fingers to blend b/c brushes leave too much product on me) and it does give the nice “luminous” finish w/out looking oily/ greasy. I have 35 year old getting -drier- everyday skin but have a love affair going w/ foundation so I’m always looking for believable coverage- that is one that makes me look better but you can see me underneath, not a layer of makeup. I got this in 02 which IS a tad light for my skin (will bronze it up) but I like that all the colors are neither too yellow or too pink. My skin Neutral more than Warm or Cool. The 03 was more warm based (think LM Sunny Beige vs. Vanilla Beige)so I may get that for summer.
SO far, so good. We shall see. The true test is time and if it keeps turning out good.

This organic foundation seems to require a delicate balance between the user’s own skin pH/texture/oils, as well as the products you are using with it.
For my extremely delicate skin, it is a fantastic foundation. Organic, pricey with the first purchase (it gets discounted once you only purchase the foundation without packaging), but works wonderfully and easily outperforms non-organic mainstream luxury brand foundations I have used (Armani Luminous, L’ancome, Smashbox, etc.).
How do I use this? To make it last and look flawless, I don’t use pure oil, I use *balms*. Organic, plant based balms too, such as Delarom’s purifying balm. Using a straight up oil makes it slip off too fast into the day, the only oil that did alright with it was a rather thick one that was Damascus rose based from a local organic company. But the combination of the Delarom balm, a loose setting powder, and this foundation, work beautifully on my skin.
It has never broken me out, for the record. I found small allergy rashes/scratches or blemishes getting soothed with this and disappearing after I took the makeup off at the end of the day.

I can’t even remember since when I’ve been looking for a good organic foundation. And yet without much success. Whether the shades offered simply always were too dark for my super fair skin or the foundation just didn’t do it qualitywise.
I already own some of Kjaer Weis’ Liptints and blushes which I absolutely love, but until recently they didn’t offer a foundation shade fair enough for my skin. And alas, they heard my prayers and launched a new shade called “Lightness”. It is even lighter than “like porcelain” which was still too dark for me.
So, first off, this shade is really really fair. It doesn’t even look that fair in the box but on skin it is super fair which is great for very fair complexions.
Secondly, this foundation is fantastic and certainly one of the best organic foundations I have tried ( and I have tried lots over the years) Very important for a great result is that you wear a good face oil (I’m using Herbivore Botanicals Orchid Facial Oil) as a primer. No silicone based primers or moisturizers, just wash your face, tone it with some herbal organic toner and use 1-2 drops of a good organic face oil.
This foundation is very heavily pigmented which means you really don’t need much to get a very nice, naural and glowy coverage. You can either use a brush or beauty blender, but after trying all of them I meanwhile prefer applying it with my fingers, it just looks better then.
The coverage goes from very soft to medium depending on how much you use.
The result is a very natural, glowing soft finish which lasts up to 12 hours.
First purchase might be pricey with around 70 $ but once you got the orginal metal box, the refills are quite affordable at around 30$.
So, I’d highly recommend this for people with very fair skin. I have quite dry and sensitive skin so the foundation in combinations with the face oil gives me all I need to have perfectly moisturized, glowy skin all day and a perfect color match too.
empathicBoars7
I stumbled upon Kjaer Weis (thank you Net-a-porter!) and after watching countless Youtube videos and reading reviews/looking at swatches I took the $$$ plunge and bought the color Paper Thin (FYI I’m between Teint Idol 24H Bisque 310C and 220C, and Luminous Silk 5 and 5.5.) I’ve been using this foundation for the last week, experimenting really and I’m really really impressed, and even conventional foundations don’t impress me.
Things I’ve learned: First and foremost, for better coverage and look you will need to use a face oil. I tried with just my moisturizer and although it was fine, using an oil gives a flawless look. (Kajer Weis recommends it too) Depending on your skin and weather, results will slightly vary. I have dry/combo/sensitive skin and larger pores on my nose and inner cheek/under eye zone. This settles into pores slightly, nothing major or a deal breaker but its worth noting, although Im getting better at applying this and maybe this could be remedied. This foundation has held up extremely well in my humid hot climate. (80-100% humidity and 80-90 degrees) I wore this all day outside and it held up very well, although I did shine/glow towards the end of the day. I also didn’t burn, maybe a combo of the face oil and this provided some UV protection. A little goes a looooong way. To apply, I first smear the foundation with my finger on my face then spread it with my Artis Oval 6 brush. I then use the same brush to apply my W3llpeople bio powder and Aveda bronzer and continue to the rest of my makeup. I would say this is a natural look foundation, that can reach full coverage especially with a powder but I think looks best with one layer. I noticed if I layer too much I get slight creasing (under eye.) I think this foundation could work for any skin type, you just need to know your skin and what works for it underneath. As far as irritation/pimples I haven’t had any issues which I’m actually surprised about. I’ve worn this everyday and if I did that with my Teint Idol or Luminous Silk I’d start to get tiny bumps/pimples. This hasn’t given me any reaction or clogged pores, even in this awful humid weather. Anyways I really do recommend this, not as an organic/natural foundation but as a standard foundation. The price is higher but so are other foundations, refills are cheaper though. And you can always buy a sample to try first.
Natural makeup has come in and out of my beauty routine for awhile and frankly I keep going back to standard chemical/silicone/petroleum foundations because they deliver what they promise. I always want to put better stuff on my face but when I do I don’t like how it looks and vanity gets the better of me. Kjaer Weis has definitely been a game changer. This looks better than my Teint idol and Armani Silk hands down.

While browsing in Saks Fifth Avenue a very aggressive SA tried to lure me to the Napoleon counter ranting how fabulous this new line from AU is. Well, being a makeup artist that has tried virtually every cosmetic line readily available in the US, I was curious to see the line. It is quite comical because this Napoleon line is merely just “your name cosmetics”, the private label cosmetics company that markets generic cosmetics to salon, spa and boutiques owners so they can put their name or logo on the product and market it as their product. Anyone in the beauty industry knows the products are just average, bland, generic & mass marketed. What a disappointment to see this line in SAKS of all places, next to Prada and Sisley!!! Well I guess it’s just clever marketing, but I will pass on this drug store quality brand.
jealousChough3
This is my favourite foundation in the whole wide world!! I travel miles to get this stuff! (Light diffusing make up that is).
Makes your skin glow, all the colours are great! (Not orangey at all on darker skin and not that peachy/ pinky colour on pale skin!)
excludedLemur4
I just keep on coming back to this stuff. I am talking about Napoleon Light Diffusing Foundation. And everytime I do come back to it, I get compliments on how my skin is ‘glowing’. It gives that real ‘cover girl model flawless’ finish.
It feels very soft and dewy. The reason I have strayed in the past is cause I wanted something that was very colourstay but then anything else seems to break me out which would indicate that this Napoleon makeup does not! Now if I want it to last longer I finish with Napoleons Camera Finish powder and that gives a really healthy looking finish. I love it.
It is a bit pricey but I say its worth it.
