This is a foundation that isn’t going to be great for plenty of people. It does happen to be fantastic for me, but I’ll be upfront about the limitations in my review. Most significantly, I’m pale and cool-toned, and that seems to be the people who are best-served by Pixi cosmetics. Pixi definitely seems to cater to the pale crowd, and I’ve found most of them look good on me, and my very pink skin. This foundation only comes in three shades. The light one is the one I use and it looks perfect on me. If there’s no match, you’re pretty much out of luck. I’d advise taking the chance if you’re fair and cool-toned, but if you don’t fall into that demographic I would definitely not buy without testing.
As for wear and application, this is not waterproof foundation. It is a cream foundation, straight up, no cream to powder finish. I apply with a beauty blender and it disappears into my skin nicely. I’d say it’s medium coverage, and it lasts pretty well for a non-waterproof formula. It doesn’t feel heavy on my face, and I usually finish with powder. I don’t have difficult skin, per se. It’s combination, but I don’t really have dry patches, and the oily bits are controllable. My big issue is always matching my skin color and foundations feeling to heavy on the skin. On those issues, this performs beautifully for me.

I am very pale with cool undertones. Their lightest shade is one of the only foundations I’ve found that matches me. That is one of the only good things about this foundation. It transfers, but if you make a point not to touch your face with anything it will last a decent amount of time. If you have dry skin this isn’t for you. It will cling to dry patches and make them look worse. Settles into fine lines. The coverage is medium to full. Pixi is cruelty free.

I bought this b/c I thought it could be a dupe for the Christain Dior Diorskin Creme Gel Compact. While it may look the same from a far, it is far from the same. First off this comes is only 2 colours: Light, Medium, Tan. These have to be Euro skin colours b/c being an NC30 at MAC, I use Tan in Pixi. It’s also about half the size of the Dior one (in length) and about half the cost.
Like some reviewers, I have a love/hate relationship w/this. When my skin is healthy (read, ‘no dry spots’), this stuff is great…when not transferred off! It has zero staying power! To the point where I’m embarrassed to take a tissue to my nose to blow it in front of people should they see the layer of Tan that came off my nose to the tissue! Gross, much?? That being said, it doesn’t look like a mountain of makeup came off my face via tissue transfer, but still…
The coverage can be built to medium, but I just dab it on lightly everywhere to even out my spots, redness, etc. I then set w/a powder. I don’t experience slippage, but again, even w/a setting powder, I still have major makeup transfer issues at anytime of the day.
The packaging is cute: Pixi green w/a pull out compartment under the foundation for your (generic) sponge. Obviously the sponge can be a point of contention for some. I just wash or replace mine regularly to avoid breakouts from an ‘icky’ sponge. I paid $24 usd for this at my local Target.
All in all, I won’t be repurchasing this again. I will continue to use this, although sporadically – more so for convenience or just to use up the product rather than b/c I can’t go on w/o it.

This was on clearance and at a NC45, there would be no way to use this as a foundation since Pixi doesn’t believe in anything other than light skin tones, so I bought it to use as a light, everyday highlight. I also cant lie, I liked the packaging as well. It sold me.
But, I don’t even know if I would use it as a foundation even if I could. For the price, you would expect excellence, however on the oily parts of my face near my nose and along my cheeks this won’t hold up, even though it’s layered over a foundation and I set it with Ben Nye banana powder. It literally melts off in patches. So, it’s definitely not for oily skin.
This foundation will work for literally a very small, miniscule, percentage of the population.

I purchased this product at a Target store without researching it first, which turned out to be a big mistake. The packaging is rather misleading; nowhere on the package itself does it say anything about being a “creme-to-powder formula.” Had I known the true nature of the product, I would not have bought it. It also claims to be suitable for all skin types, which couldn’t be further from the truth in my opinion. I have combination skin, and this foundation made my dry areas look and feel dryer, and my oily areas look and feel oilier. You might be able to use this foundation if you have normal, blemish-free, even-toned, flawless skin, but in that case you don’t need foundation anyway, so this product is pretty much pointless. I tried several different methods of application (dry sponge, damp sponge, fingers, brush, dry wedge, damp wedge, with primer, without primer, stippling, smearing, etc.), and each time it went on looking cakey, uneven, and ridiculous. I’ve gotten better texture and coverage from cheap pressed powders. It also will not set, it rubs off onto anything you even barely touch, leaving oily powdery residue all over your glasses, your phone, your shirt if you aren’t careful, your hands if you touch your face, the cord of your headphones, you name it. I really wanted this to work, as it was the only foundation in the store that was actually light enough for me; the Fair shade actually matched my skin tone quite well, which made everything else about it all the more disappointing. The packaging is cute, and that’s about the only good thing I have to say, aside from the tone matching, which was a bit of a fluke; with only 3 colours available, it’s a wonder they match anyone’s skin tone. And it’s certainly not worth $24, if you’re in that price range for foundation, don’t mess around, buy a high quality product from one of the “department store brands.” I will not purchase this product again, and do not recommend it to anyone.

I honestly do really like this foundation – you get a dewy finish and the coverage definitely makes your skin a lot more even than it was before application. I’d say it provides medium coverage as I do still need concealer afterwards but not nearly as much as I did before I started using foundation, so that’s good! I use the lightest shade and it looks very natural on me.
as for staying power, it’s really not the best, I have combo/oily skin and i do find that as the day goes on I need to be careful when hugging and/or kissing my boyfriend lest I render his clothing and lovely dark chinese skin a bizarre gray color. powder does help to prevent some slippage, but only for a short time, and in general the foundation does like to sit on top of the oil on your skin. it is EXTREMELY oily. definitely consider adding oil-blotting wipes to your makeup maintenance/touchup routine, you’re gonna need them. I do have oily skin, but this foundation is seemingly impossible to fully mattify at times.

**edit 4.26.17: going through old reviews…$24 for a month and a half?? and i didn’t even love it? lmao my current fav is $6 and lasts me several months with daily application. this foundation must be geared for folks who want light coverage because building it to opacity causes it to disappear way too quickly to justify the price.
i’ve amended my original 4-star rating to 2. granted, i am not this foundation’s target demographic, but it really was not my cup of tea. if you have oily skin, avoid this!

I’m not sure if I would buy this again, I’m really really torn on this product. On one hand, I love it: it’s easy to apply, it has made my skin look even better than before I used it, and it’s easy to carry around. However I feel it lasts only a few hours and finding the right colour is next to impossible. I bought the no.1 fair thinking it would match perfectly since I have very fair skin, but nope. This fair is for porcelain skin tons only. I looked like I was trying to dress up as a mime or snowman. I went and got the no.2 medium and that is half a shade to dark for my skin tone and makes me look yellow-ish. I can even it out with PIxi’s pressed powder in no.2 natural (which I originally bought to match the no.1 vitamin veil as its close to the same colour) a little. Overall I’m not impressed and this is only the second creme to powder I’ve tried. (The first was MaryKay brand which I would not recommend at all – especially for sensitive skin)

This product is not good for combination and oily skins. With a good primer, this product provides medium coverage, but it will fade during the day (in about 3 hours). The lack of color selection makes it very difficult to get the right shade.

LOVE this stuff. It only comes in three shades. I got it in fair at first and it was way to light and made my skin look awful i went back and got the medium shade instead and it matched perfectly. not a big selection of colors but they do still blend pretty well. it reminds me of mac studio tech but i actually like it way more.It provides a buildable coverage and never came off cakey on my skin at all. I used the pixi flawless beauty primer underneath and I set it with a little bit of the physicians formula happy booster powder in transcluent and my skin has never looked better. best.best.best combination.

I got the lightest shade, thinking it would be a good fit for my light yellow skin. Dead wrong. It is lighter upon application. Its really creamy but it fades really quickly. I mostly use for my under eyes.
