I haven’t tried it as a foundation. I use it as a finishing powder to set my foundation. Blurs imperfections beautifully!! I use a fluffy brush. Many colors are sold out on the Tarte website. If they discontinue this, that would be very foolish!!!

I LOVE this! I’m a minimal make-up gal and this gives my skin a natural look without looking like I’m wearing a ton of make-up. It dulls my age spots and covers ace scars. It gives my face an overall smooth finish. I use it as an eyeshadow base as well. My ONLY complaint is that the applicator sponge doesn’t come INSIDE the compact like most compact products. I was packing in a hurry for a trip once and forgot the applicator! It did NOT work well with a tissue or my hands. The assumption with a compact is there’s space for the applicator so I wish this product would be redesigned for that. Otherwise, GREAT.

Really loving this! I’ve been using powder foundation ALOT lately, and have purchased 5 or 6 mid/high end ones in the last 2 months, and this Tarte has cemented a place in the rotation! It’s super buttery and smooth, and just looks so pretty on my combo mature skin. I like to apply an even all over layer with a big fluffy brush, then go in with a dense kabuki, and buff over areas I want more coverage. It comes in a gorgeous gold tone package, with a cute little carrying pouch.. Definitely recommend ????????

I have oily and somewhat sensitive/acne-prone skin. This is my go to powder foundation that I love (enough that when my summer color stopped working, I went out and bought another color!). I use this with primer and setting spray to help longevity. It looks smooth and not too powdery. It blends well with my skin and doesn’t look like it’s sitting on top of the skin. It has light-medium coverage with my application, which is what I love. It lasts pretty well throughout the day. Yes, my skin will get oily in a matter of hours, but that happens with ANY foundation. The difference with this versus other powder foundations is that this doesn’t break up or pool with my oily skin and doesn’t completely melt off. Sometimes all that’s needed is an oil absorbing sheet and I’m good to go for a few more hours. I even will use this for touching up other foundations later in the day for going out at night and whatnot. By looking at my face, you wouldn’t suspect that it’s a powder foundation! When I use a makeup wipe at the end of the day, product is still coming off! Granted, it doesn’t look the best after 10 hours of wear, but again, no foundation does for me. This is a good powder foundation to look at if you have oily skin. The best I have found!

I bought this because everyone said it looked natural and didn’t leave you oily. I would say the first part is fairly true. It looks like makeup, but more natural than many. Coverage is light to medium. Not for those with bad skin. What I hated about this is that within an hour it looked like I put Crisco over it. Sooooooooo oily. It was embarrassing when I was out in public and saw myself in the mirror. I’ve been trying to find something that looks natural, covers and doesn’t go oily. This was not it. I would not repurchase.

I came across this back in early May of this year while looking for a back-up powder foundation to my HG (Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation in 200 Watts). I use this almost daily & have yet to re-order the Stila (although I will)–go figure! My skin tone = NW extremely fair and dry/sensitive; however, I have gotten more sun this season & my skin tends to tan slowly or burn very slightly & then tan somewhat. Anyway, I tried on SEVERAL great powder foundations on at Ulta with the help of employees there, and this one won out over many other high-middle end brands. I was initially a bit put-off by the lightest shade of this (turned out to be too cool for my skin tone), but I loved its beautiful gold sturdy compact & coverage. I was so surprised when the second lightest shade (‘fair-light neutral’) matched my skin tone (I normally am always the lightest shade)! It was explained to me that, much like my HG Stila powder foundation, the lightest shade was made on the cooler side, which is why the warmer toned “2nd” lightest colors in both this & the Stila work much better with my yellow undertones! A little of this product goes a long way & can be used wet or dry, although I usually use it dry. It seems to provide more coverage than my Stila HG., and I have used far less concealer (usually a staple for me!) since purchasing this. It does not dry out my skin or irritate it. I plan on purchasing again when I run out, although I still have about 1/2 pan left! Amazing product for this picky gal!!! 😉

I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth my skin looked while wearing this. It stayed on for a solid 9-10 hours even in FL humidity. (I was not outside the entire time) I did prime and use a setting spray, but I always do that because of my oily T-zone. After my primer I used a powder foundation brush and applied this. It was very easy to apply and blend. What I find unique about this is how smooth it looks. it doesn’t have that powdery chalky look at all. I loved the packaging as it came with a little purple pouch to put the compact in and keep in your purse. If I was going to suggest anything it would be to expand the colors. I was lucky and light neutral worked well on my skin tone. I should mention I have large pores on my nose and cheeks and this powder did not accentuate them like some powders can.
Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I have tried many powder foundations and this is by far the best I have found.

I have been a Bare Minerals user for the last 10 years and prior to that was an exclusive MAC user. I do not like the look or feel of liquid foundation for myself as I do not like the cakey-clown-look and prefer the look of a powder finish. I needed something that was a tad bit more full coverage than what Bare Minerals was giving me. I read the reviews online and decided to give it a try. At first, I was a little uncertain because the price is a little steep but after a week of using it exclusively, I was hooked. I have got more compliments on how nice my makeup looks while using this and the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. I have never looked cakey and it lasts longer than Bare Minerals. My only con is that the sponge applicator that they include with it, does not fit into the actual compact but they give you a carrying case for it and the compact. Almost 2 months later, I just purchased another one and do not see myself going back and I am certain of this because I have a drawer full of Bare Minerals left that I could use.

I’m usually around NC20 leaning neutral and I wear this in the shade Light Neutral. I have combination skin, live in Florida and am acne prone. I usually use it as a setting powder since I like to get a little extra coverage from my powders. It never broke me out, I loved that it was pressed and it really did feel creamy. It didn’t provide much oil control but it doesn’t claim to be oil controlling. I will definitely repurchase, it has replaced Mac MSFN and I feel better about the ingredients. It allows me to wear lightweight foundations and still get the coverage I need. I got this last year for 50% off at Ulta and I just ran out a year later. It was a great buy!

I have repurchased this 3 times now and don’t see myself stopping. I live in the South and our summers last from March-ish to November-ish so I’m always worried about my shiny oily face. This is perfect for my every day application and keeps oil away for about 10-12 hours. Its not heavy and is just the right amount of coverage for me. I don’t have very many imperfections but the oil is always my main concern anyway so I can’t speak too much on if its buildable or not because one layer is good enough for me. It will cling to dry patches but nothing a little setting spray wont take care of. I’ve gotten many compliments on my complexion when wearing this and people really don’t believe me when I tell them its a creamy powder and not a liquid foundation.
