I bought this (I also have the one in Milk and a gold one) to use under sheer shadows that I wanted to deepen and bring the shimmer out in. It applies very nicely (has a slippery, silicony texture), blends pretty well… although it also blends *away* pretty well too. For those who don’t know: this is NOT an eyeliner – it’s more of a cream eyeshadow-type product.
I have several issues with this: because it blends away so easily, it’s not as easy to work with as I wished for. It’s also hard to build up without applying a thick layer – it’s not very pigmented compared to black gel liner, which is my usual go-to for a completely black base. The third BIG BIG issue is: it doesn’t set! I can apply this in a thin, grey layer over my lids – which are not oily, BTW – and then apply powder shadow over, and still: this moves, creases and disappears on me during the day. When I apply eyeshadow, I want it to stay where it is, and this definitely doesn’t work as primer on me – rather the opposite (decreases the wear-time of shadows). Ending up with skin-colored lines on my lids during the day is not acceptable for me as I often wear dark or bright colors. I won’t wear this with primer under – I have other stuff that works without primer. So: I do not like this and would not purchase again. And kinda wish I had returned it. I wish Milani Shadow Eyez weren’t so hard to get my hands on…

Black Bean and Milk are my favorite shades from the Jumbo Pencils.
Black Bean might not be as versatile as Milk but I still have my uses for it:
– eyeliner (with an eyeliner brush)
– eyeshadow base (for duochrome shades or dark eyeshadows)
– creating a black smokey eye
– lining my waterline
– filling your eyebrows (for people with black eyebrow hairs) -> I recommend a brush to avoid harsh results.
(That’s it so far but I might try applying it on my lips, set it with powder and put a gloss or liquid lipstick with effects over it.)
Pros:
– pigmentation is very good
– applies and blends without any effort
– matte finish (IMO)
– price
– versatile
Con:
– setting with a powdery product is a must (or else you risk creasing)
– needs to be sharpen
-> about sharpening it: A video on Youtube recommends to put your (Jumbo) pencils into the freezer, wait 15 minutes, take them out of the freezer and you can sharpe them much better.
Overall, for this price you can a product with multitasking functions. My only wish would be that it turns from creamy to matte in texture since creasing is never welcome for all makeup lovers.

I’ve been using this to line the inside of my eyelid. I like the fact that it is a true dark black and the formula is really soft and buttery for the eye area. I tried to use this as a eyeliner and it didn’t seem to work as well. It was smudging a lot and went on sheer. Will continue to use as a tightlining product.

I hated this eyeliner. Feeling optimistic, I purchased it in black bean and a few other colors. It was so messy and smudgy (not smokey, smudgy) and impossible to work with. It’s sitting in a back drawer and writing this review reminded me to throw them all away. Just try something else.

I love this pencil! It’s just such a versatile liner, cream bases, liner ect. I hate the packaging, I have to go get a sharpener specifically for this pencil. Other than that, I love it.

I use this as a lower lid liner, it is so easy to use, creamy black. I wouldn’t recommend putting it on your water line though, I haven’t tried it before but this stuff is pretty creamy so it would probably smear. I’ve used it for smokey eyes before, it works okay, but it’s kind of trick to use. This stuff is alright but kind of cumbersome.

I bought this to use as a think eyeliner, I ended up not really liking it that way, however I found a really great use for it….I use the gel eyeliner on my water line and then put this crayon/pencil over the top of it an it stays so much better. It’s a cheap product I def will keep around

I think this is a must-have for smokey eye looks. It’s a great base for black shadows especially – helps them POP. I always apply UDPP before putting this on to help prevent creasing. The downside to this is that it can smudge everywhere and get messy because of the creaminess. I always have my concealer handy when I use this. I first dab the pencil onto my eyelid. Then I use a dome brush to spread and even it out. After this, I use a blending brush to smooth out the edges and a concealer to define them. Now I can continue apply the rest of my shadows. It takes a little bit of work, but the end result is always fabulous. I think this is a great product overall.

I have about a million and one uses for this pencil, so im suprised a lot of people hate it or cant find uses for it. First of yes u need a primer but… I put a primer under everything that goes on my eyes! Anyway the main way I use this is as a base under any eyeshadow that I want to give an extra layer of depth or smokiness to. Seriously play with this color on your hand put a sparkly pink, or a matte lime green or an ocean blue over it and you will see what im talking about. I also use this as an eyeline, not straight from the pencil because it is jumbo, so I use an angled eyeliner brush. And last but not least I use this as a very rock and roll dont give a sh*t smokey eye. Yes I still use a primer but this pencil has a nice sheen to it that looks lovely for that look and while I dont find too many issues with creasing whatever creasing I do get just fits into that look perfectly and all I do is layer and smudge, layer smudge and layer and smudge again, take the pencil and go underneath the eye and smudge that add falsies and voila glam rock in 5 min. Explore your options with the tools you have ladies, you may just find you love a product you once hated or that everyone else hates. Good luck!
