In comparison to Cinema Secrets, this makes the line more paint-like and intense. It also lasts longer. In comparison to using plain water, it hardens the surface of the product so you would have to scrape the surface off every time. You could also just start off scraping off a bit of the product and mix on a separate surface like the lid of the producyt.
It is usually advised that you just reserve a tiny area on the shadow or cake liner for this and tge rest for water. In practice this doesn’t work as you usually have to mush the brush in quite a bit and need more surface area.
This works for eyeshadow but not as well as using a cream shadow or cream pencil and then shadow on top.

This DUPE FOR BENEFIT SHE-LAQ product will *seriously* transform/convert/seal and make waterproof/sweatproof/tearproof/smudgeproof/budgeproof, you-name-it-proof ANY eye-make-up product you mix it with OR apply it on top of, regardless of quality. IT’S PURE ALCHEMY!!!
The clear, liquid, thin, water-like formula is designed to either a) be mixed with your preferred substrate–& then applied to face OR body OR b) simply be applied over substrate once substrate has ALREADY been applied to face OR body.
SUBSTRATE=Base Product~eyeshadow powder, brow powder, liner powder, shadow liner, liquid liner, gel liner, cream liner, etc.
Once dry, it remains completely transparent, flexible & non-sticky.
I’ve used She-Laq (the original) in NUMEROUS ways before BENEFIT–for whatever *COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL* reason–decided to stop making/selling it, among them:
Eyebrow Color Enhancer & Sealant (mix with powder eyeshadow or brow powder)
(atop gel- or cream-based brow product)
Mole Maker (mix w/dark brown or brown/black powder eyeshadow); For non-multiple, stand-alone 3-D zits–which YOU CANNOT CONCEAL WITH FLESHTONE CONCEALER–apply w/tiny ‘concealer’ or ‘pencil’ brush; instant realistic camouflage–and VERY sexy.
Eyeliner Sealant (mix w/powder shadow OR atop shadow OR atop liquid OR gel OR atop pencil)
Body Art Sealant: suitable for use anywhere on the body–it is canvas –indiscriminatory (although I WOULD NOT recommend too close to the ‘more sensitive’ areas of the nether-regions). Works well in conjunction with any cosmetic substrate to create ‘temporary tattoos’ or other semi-permanent forms of illustrated, stenciled or stamped body art.
I’m not gonna say it, I’m not gonna say it, I’m not gonna say it–OH, dear LORD, forgive me, MUA’ers forgive me for what I’m about to say (because I posted a semi-rant about how irritatingly trite the phrase has become here on MUA), and I’ve NEVER said it before myself, but right now it’s just a-sittin’ there on the very tip of my tongue ’bout to roll off of it and well goodness gracious great balls of fire I sure do “HOPE THAT HELPS!!!” 😉
P.S.
THIS PRODUCT IS A DUPE FOR THE FORMER HOLY GRAIL/CULT CLASSIC FAVORITE/NOW-DEFUNCT BENEFIT “SHE-LAQ.”
FYI: HYPOCRISY ALERT
[Cringeswithselfloathing.] Here I go again. With the other oft-repeated MUA phrase that *really* grates on my nerves. The rare opportunity to use it correctly serendipitously happens to be presenting itself as such right here, right now. It’s use here is rational and well-chosen within the context of the sentence, paragraph and review, particularly since I had to *SUBSTANTIALLY* edit my review *MULTIPLE* times (it wouldn’t post properly or post at all otherwise, so [essential] info re. She-Laq being a wholly separate product was inadvertently omitted; then copy edited and included but with punctuation errors; then copy edited again “IF THAT MAKES SENSE.”) LOL!!!

Holy grail product right here. I love Laura Mercier’s cake eye liner for tightlining because the mahogany brown looks so natural, but it smears. I used this product with the Laura Mercier cake eye liner in very warm, sweaty weather and in a downpour, and my eye liner did not budge at all. I wish I would have found this product sooner because it is amazing.

This works great with glitters as well. I compared it to other mixing mediums such as Inglot’s Duraline, Mac’s Fix + and Lit’s Liquid Sugar. Duraline and Fix + couldn’t when keep the glitter on my skin for an hour but the CEL sealer was the closest competitor to the liquid sugar (which is holy grail glitter glue).
Only down side; it can feel a bit rough if you apply too much and also flakes off much easier. But if you don’t fiddle with it, it will stay on the whole day.

Holy. Grail. It is one of the few products with which I truly content. (High praise, as I am frequently looking to improve/upgrade products I truly like. OCD? FOMO? Just plain beauty junkie? I’m not sure. Could be a bit of all three.)
Anyhoo, I have been using Kryolan CEL Sealer since July 2012. I had started tightlining with Laura Mercier’s Cake Eye Liner. I loved the initial effect, but when I applied the cake liner after only mixing it with water, it tended to smudge and transfer to my under eye area.
The CEL Sealer keeps the cake eyeliner from smudging. The eyeliner stays on throughout the day. (I have had makeup artists ask what I use because it stays on so well.) Sometimes, the eyeliner might flake a bit throughout the day, but the flaking isn’t terrible and is much easier for me to deal with than raccoon eyes. Also, if my eyes are particularly watery, I will get a little smudging under the outer corner of my eyes, which is easily fixed. In spite of this, the tightlining is still there and still looks good.
I have never used this to foil eye shadows; so, I can’t comment on that. However, it does do a great job of transforming eye shadows into eye liners. The result is a liner that is much darker and lasts much longer than you would get if you had just added some water to the eye shadow. Before I got the NARS Mesopotamia Eye Paint, I loved to mix this CEL Sealer with NARS Coconut Grove Eye Shadow to create an insanely dark black-brown eyeliner.
How I use it: I apply a small drop or two to the cake liner and mix with a flat eyeliner brush (or brush of your choosing). You want the the cake liner to have the consistency of shoe polish and not too watery. So, I recommend start with less than you think you will need. I test the mixture on the back of my hand. It is a small bottle, but it lasts a long time. Even though I use it 5-7 days/week, I just started my fourth bottle.
Four caveats:
(1) Make sure you wash your brush well after you use this. Not just “spot clean.” Full on wash. After I use this, I wash my Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner brush with Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. It can usually take 3-4 washes before I squeeze the bristles and I see the water is clear.
(2) This CEL Sealer can leave a bit of film or skin on the products with which you use it. When this happens, the CEL Sealer doesn’t seem to absorb into the Cake Eye Liner / Eye Shadow as well. I have found that leaving the product open to the air seems to minimize this film/skin. However, eventually it does still appear — especially as I get close to finishing the cake eye liner / eye shadow. To rectify this, I use a small paring knife to scrape / peel off this film / skin.
(3) This comes in an eyedropper bottle. I would recommend that you not keep this next to your eye drops as you could accidentally grab this instead of your eye drops. I speak from experience. So. Much. Stinging.
(4) It can be difficult to remove. I recommend patience and an excellent eye makeup remover.
This product is available at Kryolan stores, including their online shop.

Don’t know what it is about my eyes or more like my face, but I cannot wear ANY eyeliner w/out having it smudge on my bottom lower lid, regardless of what I do to help set it & keep myself from becoming a glamorous raccoon. I don’t have oily lids btw. I’ve tried tons of eyeliners, high end to drugstore & they will smudge in 2 hours. Well, this stuff is so weird/awesome, it dries super fast so I have to be careful with how much I use & use it quickly so I don’t waste it. Plus it has a bit of a tightening effect on the lid. BTW I use this with Kryolan’s cake eyeliner (makes sense why they work so well together) I have tested this out on many different crazy situations. A whole work day, working out, & just doing some serious shopping on a hot humid day. I even showered with it on & it does NOT come off. The bottle is on the tiny side but I would repurchase anyways because of how well it stays. If you’re struggling with eyeliner smudges try this out maybe? I know I’m in love with it. I have yet to use it on top of other eyeliners as a “sealant” but I promise to update. Thanks for reading!!!!

I’ve tried this product with loose eyeshadows and pressed shadows. I mix the liquid with the eyeshadow to create an eyeliner. This product is pretty good for that, although it can take awhile to build up the line. The product has great staying power. I use this to line my top lid and I use a mix of Ben Nye Final Seal, Liquiset, and powder eyeshadow to line my lower lid.

This is seriously good stuff!
I just recently “discovered” cake eyeliner, and was looking for a sealer that would help the liner hold up on my uber oily lids. It’s a little early to say for sure, but I think this Kryolan sealer may be The One.
Yesterday, I tried using it with black Ben Nye cake eyeliner, and its performance was impressive, even on my umprimed oil slicks of lids.
My liner looked rich black and opaque, and it stayed on until I took it off in the evening.
I even took a nap with my liner on, and it didn’t budge.
This Kryolan sealer is easy to use, high-performing, reasonably priced, and is made by a cruelty-free company.
It’s looking like HG material for me!

This product has saved me so much hassle! I used to struggle with bad pigmentation and eyeshadow creasing, even with a primer, especially during the hot summer months. This sealer is seriously amazing. It can turn any eyeshadow into a beautiful eyeliner, and make any powder eyeshadow look opaque, foiled, and beautiful. It works especially well with loose eyeshadows and makes them sparkle and really show up well on the eyes. It’s also very water resistant and a little goes a long way. If I ever finish this, I will definitely buy it again!
