One of my favorite MAC eyeliner pencils is Buried Treasure, but it looks like they’ve discontinued it! I can’t find it on their website… but thankfully this pencil is a pretty good twin! To my eye, they both are black with ultra fine gold shimmer (which can end up looking a little green to the eye, but I like it!) I have both and swatched side by side, the MAC has a bit more gold shimmer so it looks ever so slightly lighter, but on the eye, who can tell? Diving in Malaysia wears just as well as Buried Treasure (possibly even better!) and doesn’t smudge under my lower lashline at all, even after a long day at work. I love how this defines without looking as stark as pure black. Both pencils are 1.2gms but the Sephora one is $9 Cdn cheaper ($12 vs $21). I’ve got my eye on a few more now. Looks like Sephora is the one with the “treasure” now. 🙂

I really love Sephora’s Waterproof Contour Eye Pencils – they offer amazing colour selection and quality for a really reasonable price. Diving in Malaysia was one of my first purchases and I have repurchased this pencil already – that’s how much I use it and how much I like it. It’s a wonderful bronzey-brown shade with hints of dark green thrown in for good measure. It has a lovely sort of dark golden sheen, though it’s that sheen (or the glitter bits that create it) that means this pencil isn’t waterline safe. But it is an absolutely gorgeous colour and for me, it’s a “must have”.
JULY 2018: Sephora is discontinuing this wonderful pencil. I have one on the go and a backup but the other day, when I saw these marked down (and on their way out….), I ordered 2 more and I’m hoping they will last, unopened, and not dry out. So very sad these are being discontinued because this may well be my favourite eyeliner or one of the top 3. Quite a few really good shades are being eliminated from this line, which is just nuts, IMO. But if you’re a fan of these pencils, or just curious about trying one, don’t wait because these will be gone soon.

My eyes are a very dark brown and I’m loving how this beautiful color makes them shine, it is a black base with golden green shimmer. The texture is creamy and smooth, and it applies like a dream. My eyelids are oily, but I have not experienced any smudging or smearing-it stays put, lasts as long as UD liners-and at half the price!

Very pretty color! It reminds me a lot of Clinique Egyptian with it’s blackened green base and gold shimmer. Thus, it’s quite similar to MAC Buried Treasure. I have this and BT and it’s hard to tell which is which when swatched. However, BT ends up having a browner base and Diving in Malaysia has a greener base. Either way, I’m glad that I found a reasonably priced dupe for these two shades and I will definitely be buying again.
