I picked up Prunella on the suggestion of a sales associate. I explained to her that black liner always looks too stark with my pale skin and lighter lashes so she pulled this out. I definitely balked at the thought of purple, but it’s a dusky plum color that turns out very gentle as liner while still helping the eyes to pop.
Pros:
* very soft, natural look
* can be blended/smoked out
* matches hazel eyes well
* creamy, easy to sharpen and apply
Cons:
* cap cracks (fixed with masking tape)
* needs to be warmed up before use

I bought Prunella on whim despite the fact that I’ve pretty much stopped using pencil liners. None seem to stay on my waterline very well (which is the only place I use pencil liners) and frankly, I’ve been a bit tired of the same old same old black. I thought a plum color would be a nice change that wouldn’t be too jarring but would also be flattering.
I got the much hyped Teddy first and, while it is nice, Prunella blows it out of the water. Prunella is not as harsh as standard black, much more flattering than brown and helps to set off my dark eyes. As stated, I use this on my waterline. Instead of desperately trying to keep this on my waterline only (which is a futile fight), I use it more as a smudgy liner. I apply it on my waterline and a bit below which, due to the color, sets off my brown eyes. Because the color isn’t too dark, it doesn’t look like I have a black eye. I have found it pretty much stays where I put it but again, the look I go for isn’t terribly clean and precise. I literally just swipe it on for those days that I just don’t like doing the whole makeup routine.
I think this retails for about $16 which is a little on the expensive side for a liner but I feel the price is fair because, like most MAC products, the quality is good and you get a fair amount. I would recommend this liner to anyone looking for something a bit different from the standard black or brown but is still relatively safe.

Quite a few people have raved about this liner, so I took the plunge and bought it for $21 Canadian dollars (which is waaaay too much might I add) and I feel very underwhelmed. Swatched it looks lovely! it’s a dark plum with lighter purple shimmer. It looks like the PERFECT shade for my hazel eyes. But once I got it onto my lash line, it went dull. It looked just like black liner, it smudged, and creased. If I hadn’t used it on my eye It would be up for sale. It could easily be found for much cheaper elsewhere!

this is another very pretty color from MAC kohl. i have blooz, teddy and phone number (all of which are FABULOUS eyeliners!). prunella is a sultry, dark plum (blackish plum, in my opinion). i am brown skinned and brown eyed, so this color accentuates my eyes and complexion. i probably won’t purchase this again though when i’m finished with it only because i already have a plum eyeliner very similar to it, and i tend to like my eyeliners more on the dramatic side. this one is nice, but the others i mentioned suit my eyeliner needs better. pretty color, just not a re-purchase.

Excellent quality , glides effortlessly, really nice shade of brownish purple. It goes nicely with taupe brown eyeshadows for a smokey eye with a twist. Long lasting and blendable with a pencil brush for a nice effect along the eyelashes.

Just fabulous! A refreshing change from black and brown eyeliner. Works with a variety of e/s shades. My favourite combo is MAC Satin Taupe. Really makes my green eyes pop!

Love this shade and the formula! Great if you’re bored of black and brown. I like that it’s not in-your-face purple, but more of a neutral. Really complements brown eyes! I could wear this every day or night! One of my favorite staple liners I will keep buying! I had a revlon liner that was pretty much the same shade but was so hard to use so I don’t mind spending more on MAC.

I like it best with MAC ‘Club’ eye shadow on top. WOW, it changes into an intense green! Two totally different colours for one price, love it!

Currently my favorite eye pencil. I love the deep purple and how it glides on. I use an eye shadow primer so it stays on all day. MAC products do not disappoint.

Glides smoothly onto the skin without tugging and is a pretty, slightly shimmery purple. The color does not resemble a dark black but actually looks more brown on me after a few hours of wearing it. Will not repurchase because there are other more purple liners on the market. Prunella is best if you want just the slightest hint of purple. To make the color stay though it is best to add some powder over it to set it.
