This is one of those products where I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. But as with anything shiny/metallic, my first instinct is *I WANT* and nothing else really registers until after I obtain said object. Now don’t get me wrong, these liners are gorgeous, but in order to achieve the best results (a.k.a. results that won’t have you throwing them in the trash from frustration), you need to apply it with some sort of mixing medium. Without, the product goes on streaky at best, so the only thing you can really do is smudge it over the lid. The Maginificent Metals eyeshadows all have a small bottle of fixing base with them, so I don’t understand why the liners don’t as well – and after several attempts at trying to make them work on their own, I decided to use the MAC medium I have in my stash (HG).
That did work. BUT… the rating of 3 lippies for this liner is based entirely on how pretty it is. With the MM the staying power is OK, but you will struggle to get even distribution of the color because it applies patchy. When smudging, they will definitely crease after a couple hours, but they’re so gorgeous and I am just a sucker for all things glittery so I couldn’t bring myself to give them a 1 lippie rating. They come in 4 colors: Metallic Black Gold, Metallic Navy, Metallic Gunmetal and Metallic Black Tanzanite (violet), the violet and gold colors being the darkest of the 4 and the only ones with blackened bases. All in all I would say they’re very pretty, very frustrating and for $25USD a pop, the execution was poor. The finished result is not unique enough to justify the price tag, nor the effort it requires. I would not purchase again unless they were heavily discounted.
