Color is a deep blackened brown, with no hints of red. It gives really good definition as its very pigmented, and because it has NO red hints it is really flattering on my eyes. Tugs a bit, and sets really so it isn’t easy to blend into a smoky smudgey look. I have to add eyeshadow over the top to smoke it out. Stays put if I don’t rub it. Stays on the waterline – this does mean you actually have to remove it with a cotton bud/qtip at the end of the day. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. Difficult to sharpen as the wood is so hard and the pencil soft. Doesn’t sharpen to a fine point, so I’m stuck with only wide lines, which I don’t prefer.

I didn’t have much success with this eyeliner. It’s very pigmented, easy to use and it doesn’t irritate my eyes, but it still smudged on me. I only tightlined, yet it still transferred a bit to my the lower half of my eyes despite wearing a primer, allowing it to set, and use a powder shadow over it. If you have really sensitive eyes that water, this isn’t the product for you. I really wanted to like this, but my search for the true waterproof pencil eyeliner continues.

I have three of these eyeliners: Mahogany, Jet, and Black Navy. To be honest, all of them basically read “dark.” Mahogany does go on a bit softer than Jet but they are all so densely pigmented, just like her gel eyeliner, that the difference in shades is pretty minimal. I love these pencils for their color intensity and tenacity. You put this on and it stays in place all day. It does not fade at all throughout the day, so the look you had when you put it on in the morning is the same at the end of the day. No need to touch-up. I’ve tried using Bobbi’s gel eyeliner but application can be tricky. I have small eyes and need to get a very thin line or I look like Joan Jett circa 1980. These pencils give me all the benefits of gel eyeliner with ease of application. I’ve tried many pencils, Urban Decay, Tarte, Clinique- you name it. These are my favorite. A great investment. You do have to sharpen them but the sharpener is included with the purchase of the pencil. Try them.
