This is great, one of my all time favourite liner – very sad it’s been discontinued. As a result, I’m saving what’s left of mine preciously – it’s dried out a little but I find I can reactivate it with water and it applies just as well.
Oil Slick is literally as the name describes – a metallic, dark grey which looks almost-black-but-not-quite. It looks softer than a regular black liner and makes for an interesting colour which doesn’t compare to anything I’ve found before or since.

One of my fav eyeliners. Long lasting, water/smudge proof, great color, wonderful quality, although the price is high.

I found out about this when I went to a Macy store for my lunch break.
My Estee Lauder kohl eyeliner wore off and I wanted to put on some eyeliner. This liquid eye liner in Oil Slick looked interesting to me and so I tried it. I was afraid it would be a bit too harsh since it is a liquid eye liner, but because it is black with a bit of shimmer it was not harsh looking at all. It looks great and soft on the eyes. I very much like the application. It is so easy, they really made a great little brush on this one. Another thing I like about it is that it lasts all day long. You don’t have to reapply it.
I must say this is a great product for those who don’t want the harsh black eye liner but rather a soft black with shimmer.
Actually the shimmer doesn’t even show, it just makes the black less harsh.
Thank you UD!

The Sephora store I purchased this at was tore up from the floor up, literarily!
The UD eyeliners where strewn all over the shelf, none of them where close to the description cards on the front of the display. I wanted the solid black liner but I couldn’t remember the name of it, so I picked up the Oil Slick. When I was checking out I asked the cashier if that was the black one. She said yes. However, it was the “shimmering black” one, not the plain black one.
That aside, this is a good liner. But there are cheaper liners that are just as good. That is why I would not purchase again in a color such as black or brown. If I wanted the colored one, like a purple or a green, I would probably try them in the UD.
I am not crazy about the packaging. I don’t know about the brush that came with it, I don’t use it. I use a SK bent eyeliner brush that works well with liquid eyeliner.

I thought this was just “OK”. Not that wonderful, but not cheapy either. I wasn’t impressed with the brush- I was hoping it was more like the bristle brushes of my beloved Linear from Loreal, but it was sort of a stiff felt tip brush. I wanted to go with a color other than black, hence why I picked up this color. The color is really pretty- sort of a gun metal grey with sparkles. I put this on top of my normal black liner for an added effect when i want to feel pretty 🙂 I don’t mind the packaging- I almost like the ink well sort of look- reminds me of the old ink well from the 18th century. I wouldn’t repurchase it only because of the applicator. I would prefer the soft bristle tip over this. Overall,, again, an OK product.

I went to the Urban Decay display for the flat black one but they were sold out so I settled for “Oil Slick”. When I got home and tried it on I absolutely fell in love. Its not black but almost a dark grey with a hint of shimmer…its noticeably different from just a flat black and not as harsh so if you’re looking for a sort of black liner for every day wear you should get this!
I LOVE the applicator…its like a felt tip and a brush tip had a baby! Its stiff and easy to maneuver across your eye and you only need 1 swipe to get a good clean opaque line. The tip is great for making a wing and and I can make the thinnest, most flawless line with it as well. The formula lasts all day without transferring to my lower lashes or flaking/drying out. I will definitely repurchase…I actually want to go back and collect all the colours they have!
Highly recommended…I have no complaints so this is getting 5 lipsticks!

This is a terrific liquid liner in a fabulous color that’s not quite black, with a hint of shimmer (like a really dark gunmetal), not at all garrish. A true black liquid liner would not really work for me – but this does. Goes on wet, give it a minute to dry completely, and has excellent staying power. As others mentioned, there’s a concern about being able all the liner out of the oddly shaped bottle. I haven’t used liquid liner in a quite a while, but am really liking this one!

I love love love love it!
I’ve had the product for a year and there is still liner inside the bottle. The color goes on well; I like how the color has these little sparkles in it and its not quiet black but has a brown kind of tinge.
It’s great. Really a great product!

Overall, UD liquid liners are the best I have ever used. I love the tiny little brushes that replace the felt-tip pens found in so many other liquid liners. The product goes on smoothly and stays EXACTLY where you put it (which could be a problem if and when you mess up your application!). It’s long-wearing, and most of the colors contain a bit of sparkle. Plus, the packaging shows you just how much color you have left, so you know when to re-stock!
Oil Slick is my top pick, my go-to liner. I have the liner in several other colors, but OS is a perfect black. I have really fair skin and green eyes and red hair, so you’d think a black liquid liner would wash me out. This one doesn’t because it has a bit of added shine to it, and it tends to lean a bit on the grey side just a bit. I only use it on my top lids because using it on the bottom would be too bold and WOULD wash me out. The sparkle in this particular black somehow brings out the green in my eyes, making them appear even greener. I have NO idea how that happens, but it does. I don’t plan on ceasing to use this product any time in the near future. UD hit the gold mine when it came up with this one! BTW: If you want your eyes to look extra-sparkly and wide-awake with a good deal of black, try this color as your eyeliner and YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils as your mascara. The mascara is a bit shiny, too (and gives you va-va-va-VOOM lashes!), and together, these products make your eyes take center stage!

I absolutely love this eyeliner: before, for during the day, I’d either just wear mascara and a little eyeliner on the waterline, or smudge a coloured eyeliner pencil over my upper lid. This was the product that converted me to wearing black liquid liner every day (I’m a student in my 20s – if I can’t go for winged eyeliner every day now, I never will!). I’ve just bought my second one of these – it may be expensive, but it’s well worth it. It lasts a long time both in terms of the product life and how well it stays on during the day. I’ve accidentally slept in this eyeliner, and it was still mostly intact in the morning!
I actually prefer the brush applicator for eyeliner I’m not doing anything fancy with (I use ones with a pointed, spongy applicator for actual designs). It’s long and flexible enough that I just need one sweep across my lid, and I’m done! It dries pretty quickly, but I try and avoid fully opening my eyes for a few minutes, just to make sure. The slight sparkle in it stops the black looking too harsh, although it does make it a bit more tricky to completely remove! The liquid looks almost brown in the bottle, and sometimes looks sparkly black, sometimes almost pewter on me, but I’ve probably just not shaken it up enough!
The product design, while pretty, does make accessing the last of the liner a bit tricky. I usually end up screwing the lid down and shaking the bottle between each eye to make sure I get an even amount of product on the brush.
Overall, if you want a good quality, long lasting liner, and don’t mind spending a bit more money, Oil Slick is definitely one to consider!
