I got this eyeliner as a gift and I have to throw it away. I only use kohl eyeliner for my waterline and I can barely get any pigment from this product on the back of my hand. I tried it on Friday; it’s Monday and my eyes still feel puffy from going over my waterline so many times – and this is even after softening it with heat. I have been applying eyeliner to my waterline for years and I don’t have sensitive eyes. I feel like I haven’t slept in days even though I have actually slept a lot. I regret ever using this eyeliner. It is worse than not having eyeliner at all.

Probably the worst eyeliner i have EVER used!I bought the dark brown one so that i could use it on my waterline but it FAILED to appear on my waterline after several applications.Added to that it was so waxy that i could not apply it on my lids, along with that horrible cone-ish structure which ensured that i stabbed myself in the eye or got eyeliner all over me.The pigmentation is the WORST,last but not the least.Overall its a BAD BAD eyeliner which i threw away after a couple of uses.

Lots of mainstream western beauty brands have been launching kajal style kohl eyeliners lately, and one of the newest editions is Avon’s. Avon claims that their new eyeliner makes “smokey eyes even smokier with ultra versatile kohl eyeliner. With intense, easy to smudge pigments, this velvety soft cream liner can be used along the inside rim of the eye.” Avon offers six shades of Kohl Eyeliner, I chose Brown Black. I bought my eyeliner for the introductory price for $3.50, it now sells for $7, full price. This eyeliner contains 1g (.035oz) of product. Avon does not test on animals, except in the East Asian market. This product was made in America.
Like most Avon products, this Kohl Eyeliner came packaged in a black cardboard box. This little box provides plenty of product information, directions, and a full ingredient list. The product is housed in a black plastic casing that’s quite thin at the bottom and widens out near the top. The name of the product is written on the tube in white lettering. A clear plastic cap snaps on firmly, protecting the product from drying out. This eyeliner is quite pointed, like most kajals, but there’s no way to sharpen it, so it’ll get blunt pretty quickly. More product twists up, but I have a feeling that there isn’t very much unexposed product.
Avon’s Kohl Eyeliner has a disappointing texture. When I think of kohl and kajal eyeliners, I think of rich, soft, super creamy, super pigmented eyeliner. Avon’s kohl isn’t awful, it’s just awfully average. It feels just like their Glimmerstick eyeliners. It’s kinda dry for a creamy product, and pulls only a little bit along the lash line. This eyeliner is smudgable, but once again, no more so than any other Avon eyeliner. You need to press hard for significant color payoff. Avon says that you can use this product on the waterline and yes, it applies comfortably, but the color payoff on the inner rim is minimal at best. Avon’s Kohl Eyeliner doesn’t last all day. I usually get about 5-6 hours of wear from Avon’s Brown Black Kohl before it starts to fade away. Brown Black is a nice, flattering, every day shade. I would definitely recommend it over the five other shades. Brown Black is a pretty apt name for this color, it’s a deep brown with a dark grey undertone.
Avon’s Kohl Eyeliner in Brown Black is just ok. I generally really like Avon eyeliners, but this one was a miss for me. That being said, I reach for it fairly often because I like the color. The texture isn’t anything like a kohl should be, it’s borderline wax, really. To me it seems like Avon’s Kohl is a rehashing of their Glimmersticks eyeliner, just in a larger form. I don’t recommend this product, especially not for full price. I won’t be repurchasing this product either. Avon makes much better eyeliners than this one.

Purchased on sale in the plum color. The eyeliner was hard and already dried out when I opened the seal on it. Hard, waxy with very little color payoff.

This is a very nice liner which smudges well and has just the right amount of pigmentation. I use the shade ‘Smoke’ for my under-eye line, and it’s a great charcoal colour that doesn’t look too heavy, yet still gives nice definition.

I have the black pencil as well as highlighting pearl. The black is the best drugstore pencil you can buy, and is cheaper then sephora’s house brand. After application keep your eyes open for 20 seconds or more to let the product set on the waterline. I’m undecided if I like the Pearl one yet as it give me trouble with application. But I’m unsure if it’s just my watery sensitive eyes. If you can buy it at shoppers drug mart for an awesome points deal do it!
I love that it’s a Canadian company

I have this is the brown and it’s awesome, I use it alone to smudge and make that lived in look, sometimes layering the black too, this stays but it’s crazy waterproof I also like that it’s super gentle and recognized by the Canadian skin foundation. Marcel is great line . Only 11.50 for these too, not bad. They are soft and not goopy either, love them!

Holy grail for kohls. I have this in smoke (charcoalish) and it stays on my water line all day without smudging all over the place. Doesn’t bother my eyes, the ‘lead’ stays somewhat firm (not too mushy) and hardly any pressure is need to apply as a regular eye liner. I don’t find this make my eyes ‘sticky’ (looking at you Rimmel kohls…). I will definitely repurchase.

This review is for the Marcelle Kohl/Kajal pencil. It’s a different product from the slim kohl pencil–this one is fat. I have a pic of it in my profile pictures. I have used this for almost a year or so. Not EVERY day but a lot. It still looks brand new except blunter (i use essence sharpener for it which is PERFECT–don’t buy the expensive marcelle or L’oreal kajal sharpener!!). I decided to review it today as I am using it for a black smokey eye base with sparkly taupe and matte taupe shadows on top and to blend. i wondered why i haven’t reviewed it here as it is one of my fave makeup items.

It is just gloriously perfect for the following reasons: doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. perfect for waterline if you have sensitive eyes. i checked the ingredients (i read that the slim kohl pencil has irritating ingredients, so i didn’t buy that) and it is totally fine–elizabeth arden smokey pencil gives the same look for a LOT more, and it has BHT which KILLS my eyes!!! You can use it as a base on lids, and blending is easy. If you use MAC Smolder you will definitely have issues with MAJOR smudging, if you’re not careful– with this, no. For precision work you can rub your angled liner brush and use that, that’s what I do. (or use a separate liquid liner)
.
It is true that you need to reapply (in waterline) a couple of times a day if you want to maintain a very perfectly BLACK waterline–but so what?
better to have a gentle, deep black eye pencil that you need to reapply once or twice, than a black pencil that lasts but! irritates your eyes or has harsh ingredients which can damage your eyes long term. gel liner for waterline or the new gel liner pencils have a tendency to hurt my eyes. gel liner also tends to crust in the eyes–gross.
i actually prefer the look when the waterline has slightly softened than a perfectly black, harsh one. you can also set with a black kohl powder like Sheida kohl or Guerlain (guerlain irritates my eyes a TON sadly) or black eyeshadow if u want the blackest black.

I absolutely loved the colour and smell. The product is a bit sticky but once you’ve warn it for a minute the stickiness goes away.

The Marcelle Kohl Eyeliner isn’t an eyeliner that I would use everyday. It is, however, the most PERFECT eyeliner to use when you are creating a smokey eye. You need a soft kohl eyeliner to create the smokey eye, and this is the perfect one to do it. If you use a primer on your lid, it makes the liner last longer. Overall, I think it is a great eyeliner to create smokey eyes.

I got this pencil in a holiday package of black kohl pencil/black liquid/navy liquid & it works well in conjunction w the black liquid. I line my top wing w the liquid then tight line waterline w the pencil & I am shocked how well it stays on for non WP liners. The liner is soft & smudgy perf for those Rockstar brooding nihilistic looks. Would make a perf guyliner too. Cap contains a sharpener, nice!! #winning

This liner smudges well, but I can’t get it to stay on my lash lines. It smears around my eyes, even when I wear primer & set it with black powder. I have oily eyelids & watery eyes though, so it might just be me.

A portion of my morning is putting my face on. But being a broke college student, I cannot afford $30 Chanel eyeliners. So when E.L.F (Eyes, Lips, Face), came out with a one dollar eyeliner it was like an angel to me…if the angel broke its wings and plummeted down to earth. The tip of the pencil is huge and scratchy. Like rubbing a block of cement on your eyes. When you finally scrubbed enough on, it ends up under your eyes after half a day. If you want to look like a bruised panda, this liner is for you.

I don’t wear eyeliner, but I love the brown/coffee-ish color in this particular eyeliner. I use it to accentuate my freckles that fade over winter. I simply shade small dots on my face and tap lightly to blend. I always get comments of how cute my freckles look! I know this look isn’t for everyone, but it’s a fun thing to try! And the staying power is only ok.

I bought this product in a gold color. Total waste of money. The color is so pretty, but the eyeliner just didn’t work for me. I wanted a nice color to put in my waterline, but that was impossible with this product. I tried everything, and at the end I had to give up, because my eyes was sore. The eyeliner is so hard – not creamy at all. I have to say that this product made me take a break from E.L.F for a while.

Formula: Unlike some of the other reviewers, I actually didn’t have a huge problem with the product being too hard. (On the other hand, I can’t say I am surprised; the quality of ELF products tends to be inconsistent.) Mine went on smoothly and not painfully. The application was actually quite nice.
However like the other reviewers were saying, it did not have much staying power. Even with some primer, it transferred from my lash line to just above my eyes. It was such a complete transfer, that it looked like someone just tried to circle my eyes. Not what I want out of an eyeliner.
Packaging: I think the packaging for this has a mix of weak and strong points. Overall I think the packaging looks sleek, like most of their other Studio products. I like that the cap is a pencil sharpener, but I have some trouble keeping it from falling off. I like that there is a smudger, but I think it is too big.
Overall I think this product has potential, and with a few tweaks to the formula and packaging, I might have been willing to make this an everyday go-to.

I’ve been loving E.L.F. tools lately so I decided to see if my love transferred to a product… but I really wish I hadn’t started with this liner. I dislike the consistency, the way it applies, the difficulty in smudging, and the cap with the sharpener won’t even stay on. There’s really no redeeming quality in this. It WAS super cheap, so I guess if you’re strapped & in desperate need of black liner… no. Just get wet n wild, you’ll be better off.

I have this pencil in dark brown, use it daily and love the way it goes on and shows up. It’s lasted me for almost 6 months already and it’s not even 2/3 of the way gone so you get a lot for your money. The only problem is that I have oily skin and it does smudge on the lower lash, I have to touch it up or I end up with raccoon eyes. Don’t be too hard on Marcell though, I have this problem with all kohl liners I’ve ever tried and only use them because liquid liners look too harsh on the lower lid.
I have contact lenses and this does not bother my eyes at ALL.

This didnt stay on my water line at all and it smudged alot for me, but i loved how black it was.

The best eyeliner I’ve ever used. Out of all the liners I tried ( e.g revlon, urban decay 24/7) marcell eyeliner stays on the waterline for long hours without any smudging. Soft black is a creamy liner that is easy to apply, gives a very natural look, glides on smoothly and easy to take off. Also some black eyeshadow applied on top of the liner helps it stay on waterline even longer. Other liners usually start smudging in the inner corners of my eyes but that is never a problem for me with marcelle khol eyeliner.

K this eyeliner sucks. Like there are literally no good points to it in the slightest. In fact, I’m almost convinced that this thing got mixed up with a shipment of pencils or something. Like it’s so incredibly hard, I think I would have an easier time getting a legit pencil to rub off on me. It hurts swatching it on the back of my hand, let alone on my eyeballs. I wouldn’t know how the staying power is because I’ve never actually been able to get any on my eyes. The smudger on the other end is large and awkward and smells like an eraser, actually, which supports my pencil theory even more, huh!?
grumpyVenison6
My eyes get really watery because of allergies. This was a mistake. I tried to line the bottom lash line and water line, but I had to keep going over it multiple times to try to get some color (with black), and when I finally did, it didn’t last very long.

I was happy when i purchase this product. I love the pencil looks very sleek and i kinda like the size. I like the texture of the pencil and the intensity of the black.
but i was disappointed with this product. I thought it might work on the waterline since its a kohl liner. I wore it out and it smudges like crazy after 2 hours! Good thing it’s cheap so i cant really go wrong.
